I cannot understand why it talks about the firearm and downplays the description of the perp and only addresses it later in the article.
Title should be Arby's held up by 20 something Hispanic wearing a red sweatshirt and black baseball call driving a ......
The idea should be to identify and arrest the perp.

Pleasanton has a lot of soft targets. Criminals prefer locations near freeways. Perhaps a CHP cruiser can park outside one of the several off ramps and trap the next thief?
He/she can also ticket idiot drivers who illegally merge and or need a lesson in turn signal use.
This btw is the 2nd holdup in a few days- 1st was Valero station.

Crime rates are not up in Pleasanton. They have been going down for years. Look at the actual numbers and stop panicking.

Tiburon has done rather well with their camera license plate detection on the towns entrances. The system helped solve numerous crimes in the city and have been a great deterrent to criminals. The system did not cost an arm and a leg, their maintenance is low, monitoring costs are low, the information is there when you need it, records are deleted after 30 days. The ACLU opposes it because criminals deserve to have more rights than victims.

The ACLU does not oppose license plate readers. They just want limits on who is allowed to view the data, how long it can be retained and how the public will be kept informed about how the data is being used. I think the concern of the ACLU is that there are currently no rules or regulations on this. Presently, anyone can operate a license plate reader system, store the data for as long as they want and even sell the data to private parties with absolutely no oversight.

The reason for the crime spike. Two fold, first off, the crime is ALWAYS HERE, just don't hear about it regularly. Second Pleasanton is thought of as a LIBERAL LOSER town where no one likes guns, so need to worry about being confronted. Everyone is just a tattle tale little girl, and thinks their better than everyone else. And their RIGHT ! BEST INFORMATION i can give you is, concealed weapons permits are easier than ever to get thanks to a few resent court rulings in the past year or so. FLEX YOUR RIGHTS TO CARRY A GUN.

Simple facts, thanks for writing, I happen to agree with your stance on gun rights, but please don't write again. All you're doing is driving the gun control advocates further into their corners by calling them names.
