Tree Massacre at Bernal Corporate Park

Original post made by Curious, Del Prado, on Dec 21, 2015

Does anyone know why the Bernal Corporate Park is chopping down so many trees? The trees being cut down all appear to be the same type, but do not appear to be sick. What was once a nice shaded stroll along the Arroyo is now a walk through a Mad Max wasteland of sad stumps, homeless squirrels, and barren landscape.

Did the City approve the removal of so many mature trees?

Hello Curious,

Your post is to be believed the arroyo is a barren wasteland. This is not case as there are many, many other trees the squirrels can habitat to.

Sadly there are some incompetent city and HO Associations that have allowed some evergreens to die from lack of water. It should be a crime to kill 30 year old evergreens with 30 ft deep roots..

The trees that have been taken down are sick cottonwoods. A few have fallen and pose a danger. They will all be replaced by trees with a longer life span.

I was speaking of my HOA that had intentionally killed evergreens in the past, and are now killing more again by not watering. Idiots.
