College crunch time

Original post made on Nov 15, 2015

If you see Pleasanton teenagers who look like they haven't slept in three days, they're likely seniors who are going through the gauntlet of college applications.

What a joke. Colleges should be writing essays to students on why they should attend and give them their money. How did we end up in a situation where the customer has to bend over backwards for the right to pay for a service? College is over-rated and unnecessary in most cases. It is a corrupted, bloated institution which, in the information age, is stuggling for relevance. Hopefully sooner than later kids will be able to get their education from the best in their fields via online classes. Just a few teaches in every subject are all that would be needed; not thousands of "professors" who never end up teaching who then let other kids (graduate sudents) teach our kids. Videotape the lessons from the best and the rest of the bloat becomes irrelevant. Now that it is all electronic you would no longer need the large campuses and the football teams that so much of the tuition goes to.

Anyway, none of these are new ideas. They are coming st come point; its just a matter of time. Unfortunately too late for today's high school kids....

"...College is over-rated and unnecessary in most cases."
