School board expected to issue approval for search firm, hear union agreement Tuesday

The Pleasanton Unified school board will meet Tuesday night to decide whether to approve a contract with an Omaha-based superintendent search firm, and the board will hear public comments on a possible agreement with the district's classified union, among other business.

I think the number one thing our board needs to work on is reducing the amount of litigation in our district. Every month when I read the warrants there are huge amounts paid out either in legal settlements or in attorney fees. When I look at the amounts I feel it's bleeding the district dry. I just think the money could be so much better spent on the education of our children.

The other thing I can't ever figure out is where the money comes from to pay the litigation? The general fund? How much is budgeted for legal fees? Are we consistently over the budget? It's just not very transparent.
