Original post made on Sep 11, 2015

For 16 years, highlighting the exploits of prep athletes in the Tri-Valley was my life, and it was an incredibly rewarding experience.

In my house, Fall means Water Polo, not football. Water polo is a very exciting and physical sport, both the girls and the boys teams at Amador and Foothill are extremely competitive and belong to one of the toughest leagues in the nation. This makes it even more exciting when they make it to NCS.

The play is fast and furious and continuous. It is always exciting. There is strategy, set plays, passes, steals, long breakaways, skip shots, jump shots, backhanded and bullet shots. It does take a bit of time to learn the rules and see the plays, the fouls, and the off ball action, but it is very easy to get hooked. Most people are amazed that there is so much action and physical contact in the water. There is nothing that encourages the teams more than a crowded pool deck of cheering fans.

Dennis, I do appreciate what you are doing, and many years, my husband submitted the box scores to newspaper, I wrote the news articles for the Amador website; however, I do believe that Fall and football are not synonyms, and there are many more high school Fall sports that I would love to see covered.

I agree with Dennis, coverage has fallen off greatly. I thank him for trying to get something started, as I often want to know what is happening.

For the parent of the above post, please read the last paragraph, reprinted below for your convenience. The only way to get these updates is for parents and fans to post results, there are eight Fall sports (counting cheer, and boys AND girls water polo) Dennis can't be everywhere at once.

"Contribute each week!!

Please send 2-3 paragraphs of your team's results by noon Sundays to [email protected] I also encourage you to send any pictures from that week's contests to the same address, along with detailed caption information."

Thank you so much for covering local, high school sports. It is sad that the papers don't realize I open them looking for just this kind of coverage. I don't care about the Kardashians, I care about the local kids.

Hi Water Polo Mom!

I would love to get the water polo results each week and have been asking the coaches for them. One local coach said they are trying but can't get a parent to write something up. I in turn asked them to send me the scores and the top players and I will put the write up together! I think in my 16 years at the paper, we did a pretty good job of covering all sports and want that to happen here as well! Help me out and light a fire under the programs to get me the information!!

Thank you!

Dennis
