An elderly man was taken to a hospital Thursday morning after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a street in Pleasanton, according to police.
The accident occurred at 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Main and St. Mary’s streets, police said.
A pickup truck that was headed south on Main Street struck the man as he was walking in the crosswalk, according to police.
The victim suffered abrasions to his leg, police said.
The driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
The driver told police he did not see the man and tried to brake, but it was too late, according to police.
Police said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Distracted driving, far too many hot women dressed in sexy clothes on main street. Come on downtown association I think it’s far too distracting and offensive. Time for a dress code. Pretty soon Livermore will be the only fun place to go and Pleasanton main street will be one giant bank/coffee shop/lunch restaurant with no parking. How about addressing the current inconsiderate, impolite, and arrogant driving habits of the resent demographics moving in, or was that the cause of the pedestrian being hit in perfectly good cross walk. Like what happened at Hearst Elementry this year. Crossing Guards wanted.
Anybody that spends any time downtown knows that crossing Main Street in a crosswalk any time of the day or night will get you pretty bad odds of making it across that crosswalk without having to dodge that stop sign running driver, or sidestepping to keep from getting hit by the local high end SUV’s. Maybe PPD can now put somebody downtown before somebody gets killed and the city gets another lawsuit. And to all those illegal u-turners on main €%~<Â¥%}$/;@!!!
