Can you please stop closing comments on the Vranesh posts

Original post made by Shelly, Walnut Grove Elementary School, on May 7, 2015

Please. There are so many of us in this community that have watched all this happen and your web site has been a place where we can gather and discuss without having to worry that our children will be retaliated against. We feel hurt by what happened and wish to show our support to Mr. Vranesh. I think those that don't support Mr. Vranesh should also be able to post in the Town Square Forum.

I hope you will continue to update the story with the good, bad and ugly no matter which side it favors. I do appreciate that you all are definitely trying to be neutral and just report what is said. This is a very emotional issue and I imagine it's quite hard to write about it without including commentary no matter which side of the issue your reporter is on. I think it's great that I can say I have no idea if the PW supports one side or the other given the neutral reporting that has taken place.

Thank you again for covering the story. Please just let us vent.

Disagree.

But regardless, posts aren't closed. The most recent, titled "Vranesh: Pleasanton school district retaliated . . ." is still open for comments. Not sure why you think it is closed.

@Get the Facts

I think that she meant closed to non-registered posters. Since most of us don't wish to register, closing a thread to all but registered posters effectively closes the thread.

Get the Facts, Shelly raised a real concern. While they are not closed for comments, they require registered ID to comment. I understand the "anonymous is cowardly" argument, and I appreciate it. It would be wonderful if we could all state our beliefs without fear of retribution or retaliation. Sadly, though, that issue is at the core of the Vranesh case. A Principal who tried to increase accountability raised an issue regarding the daughter of the union president. The administration retaliated against him with all their might. So with that environment, why would any parent expose their identity? We are all in fear of this administration who has lied to us (calendar change options from 5 to 2?) and intimidated us (watch the NAACP show up to threaten a reporter and anyone who doesn't support the Superintendent on the TV30 replay). There is NO trust of the superintendent or her cadre of yes-men and yes-women.

This administration has obliterated any feeling of partnership with parents, so it is natural that they would not want their ID logged while commenting.
I hope that helps, "Get the Facts"

Get the Facts is a registered user.

Registering is not difficult, and prevents posters from repeatedly posting under different names. It's a good thing to limit posts to registered voters, but it doesn't go far enough, in my opinion.

The post I referred to, "Vranesh: Pleasanton school district . . ." is open to all, not just registered users. So I STILL do not know why anyone thinks it is closed to all but registered posters.

But the latest post, titled "Vranesh hearing ends" is closed. Why? look at the postings and you will see, "comment was removed and the thread was closed to anonymous posts because this post contained misleading or unverifiable information." Therefore, the Weekly closed the posting so people won't get slanderous. I can't blame them.

Like I said, closing to only registered posters doesn't go far enough. I think you should be registered and only post under your name. I will be the first to sign up when the Weekly moves in this direction.

@Get the Facts :"The post I referred to, "Vranesh: Pleasanton school district . . ." is open to all, not just registered users. So I STILL do not know why anyone thinks it is closed to all but registered posters."

The thread that you refer to shows as being closed to all but registered posters on my web browser. Surprised to hear that it appears differently on yours.

As for registering, the downside is that you can possibly have your email address as well as other personal information acquired by hackers if they manage to hack this web site, and I believe that that has happened at least once before.

Get the facts,

I do not believe that anything is stopping you from registering and using your own name. If you feel so strongly you should do it.

Reminds me of people who don't think taxes are high enough. Nothing stops them fr mailing in a donation to the IRS to true things up. Except of course hypocrisy.

Damon,

The thread I am referring is closed, you are correct. My device doesn't show that, as I am always logged in and my posts automatically use my registered name. I had to look at another device to see what you were saying, that is why it appears differently. I still disagree with the original posting, however, as registering discourages spewed vitriol.

Pete,

"I do not believe that anything is stopping you from registering . . ." Have you not noticed that I am a registered user? I see you have not registered. I will register ". . . using my own name" when it is required by all, as I wish it would be.

Registering is a nice idea until you remember that Jeb outed a poster who was registered, just not with her actual name. No action was taken against Jeb for that and I will, therefore, not register under any name.

Given the number of detailed negative posts about Jon Vranesh for the last 1 1/2 years that appeared to be someone with detailed knowledge about the investigators report, I first thought that Shon Davidsen was posting comments over and over again from the report of what was supposedly said.

Every week there seems to be some set of new and more outrageous allegation that comes out of left field and seems to be out of the National Enquirer (locked offices!???) so I doubt that any of these are actually factual.

Given that he died in late December 2014 in Mexico, I was wondering if the legal team from the law firm of Kingsley, the District's legal counsel, are the ones repeatedly making allegations, repeating allegations, and posting detailed new ridiculous and absurd allegations that just came out in the Office of Administrative Hearing proceedings.

Their motive for the legal firm to be posting over and over again would be in order to create more and more notoriety regarding this issue such that they would argue to the judge that notoriety that they (the legal firm) themselves have created would be a basis to revoke the teaching credential.

I would hope that the Pleasanton Weekly could examine some of the outrageous and absurd postings to determine if the source IP addresses come from the Central Valley/Folsom/Camino area, the location of the law firm and others associated with the law firm and report this.

To Resident:

Your reasons make it all the more valid that everyone that posts should be registered under their own name. Then the snafu with Jeb and the poster wouldn't happen, as we would know the real names of the posters.

I think it unlikely that I am the only registered poster who knows nothing of the 'outing' incident in question. "Resident", it would helpful if you, or someone else, would give a brief explanation of exactly what happened, or post a link to a relevant story or thread.
