Pleasanton Council gives thumbs up to new $2.45 million firefighters contract

With the clock approaching 10 p.m. and only two men -- both firemen -- left in the room, the Pleasanton City Council last night tentatively approved a new 3-1/2-year contract with unionized firefighters in the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department that provides 3% pay increases each year over the next four years.
