2. Mary Hayashi, the convicted shoplifter, running for State Senate in District 10, received a respectable tally of 14,000 votes. She's not advancing to the general election either, but again, you have to wonder about those 14,000 people that voted for her.
3. Closer to home, and here on Thursday, the first day of the week that the Muni employees in San Fransisco aren't all calling in sick, Steve Glazer lost out to Tim Sbranti and Catharine Baker. Steve was our best shot at elevating public transit employees up to the same "essential service" status as police and firefighters by preventing strikes and forcing arbitration. Sbranti will never follow that path; perhaps Baker, a Republican, will.
