Vote for Exner, McGrail, Morrison, Palmer for Zone 7 directors

Original post made on May 30, 2014

Although there's not much excitement in Tuesday's primary, the Tri-Valley's ongoing water crisis has widespread concern, which is why we urge voters to focus especially on who they will choose to serve on the Zone 7 Water Agency Board of Directors.

I concur with the Weekly's recommendation of Alfred Exner for Zone 7 Water Board. I have known Al for 40 years and have seen his commitment to faith, family, and community. All can expect diligent effort and thoughtful communication from Al, resulting in solutions based conversation for the benefit of the community.

Your endorsement of Palmer state her priorities include "looking at the quality and quantity of local water, which include a sustainability". In addition, "she said she wants to work with the valleys other water agencies and create programs that keep the public interests at the forefront".

Who are the other water agencies in the valley she speaks about?

What does she propose to do about the aging transmission systems of
Zone 7 that are currently transmitting salty water into the Pleasanton drinking water storage system. The Pleasanton storage system, that is fighting with a nitrification problem that makes it necessary to drain off 2.7 million gallons of Zone 7 drinking water during 2013 and continuing into 2014?

This seems like a smaller position, but with the water crisis is becoming much more high profile. If you're interested in seeing what the candidates think, please check out this 30 minute Zone 7 candidate forum at the Livermore City Council Chambers.

The video shows 6 of the 7 candidates so you get a great idea of who you are voting for. I'm supporting Alfred Exner for some much needed financial experience when it comes to tough and sustainable water choices.
