Hopefully there will be some positive resolutions formed and committed to. The city has devoted so much to other areas for the public. It is only right that our cemetery reflects the same pride for those who have served and lived Pleasanton and made it what it is today.

I hope they do not mess with it. The cemetery is a pioneer cemetery and looks very well for the type of cemetery it is. Those who have paid for plots there have paid an amount that does not pay for maintenance like other cemeteries have. If we enhance this cemetery, we have given a gift to a small amount of people. If those people want to enhance the cemetery they paid very little for to buy a plot, they should start an improvement district and pay for the enhancements.

I would hope that "Hope" who made the comments above would take the opportunity to visit our "Pioneer" cemetery as I have on numerous occasions. Even the pioneers would have been embarrassed with what we call our Pleasanton cemetery. The grounds are all dirt which becomes mud during the rainy season. Money was not a factor with many who selected this cemetery. Keeping a loved one close to us here in Pleasanton was much more important. Hopefully, we will make this final resting place one that Pleasanton can be proud of. I hope that "Hope" will reconsider and join us in this effort!

The cemetary is our HISTORY, and deserves some care. We take care of "Heritage" trees, and "Heritage" buildings, and I truly 'hope' the council includes our pioneer cemetary into the "Heritage' mix.

I have visited the cemetery many times. I saw it when it was owned by the Odd Fellows and have seen the great improvements to it since then, mostly by local service groups and I am now proud of the cemetery. It does not have manicured lawns like somebody paying 20x the cost in other cemeteries but it looks great for a pioneer cemetery and certainly much better than the catholic cemetery next door. The cemetery is our history and part of our history is our cemetery is a pioneer cemetery.
As for the people 'asking' the city to upgrade the cemetery, almost all of them have plots that they paid almost nothing for. Most purchased them when the Odd Fellows were in control of the cemetery and they knew what they were paying for. Just look at the difference in price from a plot here and a plot in another cemetery that has manicured lawns. The manicured cemeteries collect enough money when they sell the plot to have an annuity to maintain the plot. The pioneers here have not paid it. Them asking for the city to upgrade their final resting place at taxpayer expense is no different than an public employee union demanding a pension at no cost to them. It is all the taking of money for their personal gain.

Just because I'm curious, 'hope', how much do you think those plots cost? Do you even have a clue or are you just spouting nonsense? Because I know precisely how much they cost, and it's in the five-figure range. Not exactly nothing.
