A driver was killed when her SUV crashed into a tree and went down an embankment yesterday off Interstate Highway 680 in Pleasanton, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The gold SUV left the freeway at about 5:30 p.m. near the Bernal Avenue offramp of I-680, the CHP said.

The driver, the SUV’s only occupant, was killed after the vehicle hit a tree and rolled down an embankment on the right side of the freeway.

One lane of I-680 was closed temporarily as the CHP investigated.

The driver as yet to be identified.

  1. Let’s hope this was not caused by distracted driving…..no one should pay the ultimate price for using a cell phone and driving.

  2. It is logical that there will be car crashes due to distracted driving. It is logical that there will be consequences to acts. You’re saying, “No one should suffer the consequences of their actions”. Okay, well, sometimes reality intervenes with that sentiment.
