The Pleasantonton school board may hire three principals at its meeting tonight, to replace two high school administrators and one at a middle school.

The board is set to hear recommendations in closed sessions and an announcement could be made at its open session.

Foothill Principal John Dwyer is leaving the district to tak a position at a school in San Jose, which is in the Peninsula’s Fremont school district. Both Jim Hansen, principal at Amador Valley High School, and John Whitney, principal at Pleasanton Middle School, are retiring.

The board could also hire assistant principals for elementary schools and vice principals for some middle schools as part of the additional positions it approved earlier in the year.

In addition, the board will make a decision on whether to continue staggered reading programs for elementary school students.

The board will also hear a brief update on state funding. Gov. Jerry Brown is set to release his revision of the state’s new fiscal yeaar budget, known as the May revise, at 10 a.m. today in Sacramento. Recent reports have shown the state is taking in more revenue than expected this year.

The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at the district’s board room, 4665 Bernal Avenue.

  1. Why no mention of Donlon Elementary’s Principal stepping down? Not to mention this is Donlon’s 4th Principal that has only lasted a year. Might be worth a discussion at tonight’s school board meeting. This has direct impact to the staff, kids, parents, and overall community.

  2. Donlon’s Principal is stepping down because she is moving to SoCal but she took the job there because she got moved out of Amador because the VP from Foothill got moved to AV because …. The DO really know whats they are doing hunh? Never happy at Donlon. And Amador’s principal wasn’t announced because they don’t know what they are doing again. Had a really two good candidates but couldn’t commit. Maybe parents should step up and start complaining a little??

  3. This is another example of district office ignoring the needs of Amador Valley High School. They had two great candidates make it to the final interview and now we have to start the process all over again. It is disrespectful of the interview panels. All they want is a “YES” man to Odie and Parvin.

  4. Ignored, it sounds as if you have sour grapes.

There have been some absolutely awful VPs at Amador in the past.

Hopefully the District will come up with an excellent candidate that has a proven track record of being respectful of students, respectful of parents, and who can impact the lives of students in a positive manner.

If they pick a candidate who is a train wreck, after all, Ahmadi and Douglas could lose their jobs over it.
