I imagine cut-through traffic going to the new outlet mall has also brought Stoneridge Drive to a standstill, and parents picking their children up at Mohr Elementary School have resorted to winding their way through the small sidestreets of the nearby neighborhood....oh wait, nevermind, we haven't connected Stoneridge to El Charro, at least not yet

I NEVER want to see Stoneridge Dr. Opened up, because that is exactly what will happen. This is just more proof that Stoneridge will be a parking lot and lot's of car's and more accident's, too close to housing and schools. IT MUST NEVER OPEN UP TO EL CHARRO!

I just want to thank Livermore for making a terrible traffic problem even worse. Very poorly thought out.

Stoneridge needs to go through as planned and give some relief to the other neighborhoods that have to put up with the results of the Stoneridge NIMBY's efforts to block it.

Stoneridge Rd @ East Pleasanton should extend to Livermore as planned, but should be passthru for new Wheels buses created with frequent trips from Bart to Paragon outlets, Costco, Las Positas College, airport, Livermore Valleycare, and Greyhound station.

The freeway exit ramps at El Charro should be expanded, and access from Skyway Blvd should be completed to accommodate the traffic.

Isnt just awful, new jobs, people spending money, more people being drawn to our Valley who are eating in our restaurants and adding to our local economy? Since when did good news become bad news?

Could it be possible that the Stoneridge extension and the outlets will be a benefit to many for years to come and that is a good thing? Or is our community better off to keep with the "only about me mentality"?

It sounds like Pleasanton paying for and tolerating hoards of additional traffic from the Stoneridge extension to Paragon, just so Livermore can reap the sales tax benefits.

By the Way, those new jobs are mostly minimum wage, and you can live on that in the Tri-Valley.

We continue to see the results of Livermore and Dublin turning this area into a mini Los Angeles. You thought 580 was a parking lot before? Think of what folks commuting on 580 will encounter in a few weeks when the Chirstmas shopping starts.

Why can we have that brick wall at Kolln and Valley to block traffic (resident request years ago) and then open Stoneridge despite resident objections now? Why the double standard?

Might not have been so bad if CalTrans had not used their traffic information signs to ADVERTISE the opening. Every single commuter was informed of the mall opening via our TAX dollars.

Stoneridge Drive extension was approved as part of the Staples Ranch development (new Stoneridge Creek retirement community). The extension was originally penned in the General Plan back in 1989. It took this long for it to finally be built as planned. It is now underconstruction and completion is expected in fall of 2013. It will help distribute/balance traffic more evenly throughout Pleasanton and relieve some of the bottle-necks in key intersections that have been a problem for the past 20 years.

Open the Stoneridge extension would mean that both the Fairlands and Mohr neighborhoods won't have to put up with lost drivers trying to find shortcuts away from I-580 and Stanley Blvd.

Not only should Pleasanton continue to follow through on the Stoneridge extension and therefore keep commute cars far away from neighborhoods, but Dublin on the other side should extend Croak Road to Livermore's North Canyons Parkway. Why? It's simple. I-580 traffic will never decrease and will only increase. Better infrastructure would actually mean fewer expenses for all us long-term. It's either outshout NIMBYs or all of our neighborhoods will suffer fiscally and environmentally. Complete main thoroughfares with enough direction signs means less neighborhood cut-throughs.

I commute every day on 580. The paragon outlets was a huge mistake! They are turning our nice valley into Los Angeles. I'm already looking to move out of this area. The city of Livermore has completely ruined our small town feel. It took me an hour to get from 1st street to Pleasanton today. Thanks alot Livermore! Way to look out for your long time residents! We don't need Prada and Coach. This isn't Beverly hills!!

Paragon outlet was not in master plan 20 years ago! Is Livermore going to share the burden of Pleasanton? No where near that outlet has any Livermore residential houses.

This traffic gridlock affects 580 and our Pleasanton main east cut through roads such as Stoneridge and Santa Rita to Valley. Alternate routes need to be opened, the Stoneridge Extension, and both parallel roads north and south of interstate 580. The outlet mall is not going away, so mitigating traffic by opening up all available alternates in necessary. The currently closed alternate that parallels 580 E but ends at private property near the driving range - must be opened to traffic to help ease.

The El Charro / Fallon exit has only one lane for all these huge outlet mall traffic? No wonder the traffic is so backed up, where was the planning from City of Livermore? This is the only big outlet mall in the whole Bay Area. Gilroy and Vacaville are too far away for many outlet mall fan.

As a taxpayer, I am truly upset that I had to triple my driving and sit in traffic to get there, when It's a stone's throw from me. Most of the shoppers are coming from the East...tracy and stockton. i CAN'T WAIT for us to have access....it's been a long wait.

How do you think the city pays for services and maintains the infrastructure. The irony is the taxpayers of Pleasanton pay for a road that facilitates our loss of revenue. We from Pleasanton just stay in the far right access lane, But, the A hole smart As in lane two waits until THE ramp, then try to crowd in causing inevitable pileups. Guy in lane 2 is a jerk, BUT, he THINKS it's going to be like most OTHER freeway ramps, with 2 off-lanes. Livermore doesn't give a rat's a** about Pleasanton. They are only interested in themselves and actually conspire to give Pleasanton the shaft. Remember how Livermore, Alameda County and BART conspired to have BART run through part of Pleasanton to downtown Livermore, and Pleasanton was purposely kept in the dark. Remember how Livermore, Dublin and Alameda County shafted Pleasanton to open Stoneridge for Livermore and Dublin's benefit? Remember how they tried to snatch Ruby Hills? Now Pleasanton's streets are clogged with Livermore commuters and will be a lot more clogged once Stoneridge Drive opens to Livermore. The Pleasanton City Council needs to wake up and Pleasantonians need to be in their face at Council meetings.

A couple of years ago when the stoneridge extension was being considered, the city did a long range study of the effect of opening up stoneridge. The study showed that stoneridge would become another valley almost immediately and that we would then have two backed up congested roads instead of one. So, with that good reasoning, they decided to approve the extension.

Please remember that Mohr School and surrounding homes would not exist with Stoneridge Drive. Completing Stoneridge Dr. to El Charro replaces building W. Las Positas thru Pl.Meadows to El Charro and on to Livermore. Every major freeway needs parallel surface streets because there will be occassional accidents.
How many of you remember when W. Las Positas did NOT exist between Santa Rita and Hopyard and local residents drove thru Birdland to get across town. They were welcomed not ctiticised.
Before Las Positas overpass or Stoneridge overpass- Pl. Meadows students got to Foothill High School via I - 580 or thru downtown.

In this case, circulation does not reduce congestion. As stated above, the city's own traffic studies confirm this. The existing Council knew this was going to be a problem. The only reason they approved it was to kowtow to the Chamber for their money and to Scott Haggerty and the other Valley Mayors so they could appear team players. Only problem is that they sacrificed their constituency to further their own political careers. Didn't work too well for Cook-Kallio who championed this and then was thrown under the bus by the Chamber by supporting Thorne for Mayor!

Circulation just means more cars in town - and those in the Chamber bubble think that those cars will stop and spend money. Btw, Brad, don't you own that strip mall on WLP next to the DMV and isn't that why you have advocated all these years for the I-680 off-ramp to be built (at taxpayer expense to improve your bottom line)?

Be careful if you go to the outlets: there are NO CROSSWALKS from the parking lot to the stores. You are at the mercy of the cars/drivers. (also not so well thought out).

While this new outlet development has created new min wage jobs for Livermore, my son almost lost his job because he was almost an hour late to his own job due to traffic. I guess the attitude is to screw Pleasanton kids in favor or revenue for Livermore. This doesnt even take into consideration the extra money he has to now spend on gas for his hour long seven mile commute through Los Angeles, I mean Pleasanton and Livermore. I did see the caltrans signs for the outlets and didn't stop to think that my taxes were being used to promote this development that is clearly so I'll suited for the traffic.

One thing that I think is being forgotten here in all of the vitriol is that the Stoneridge Drive extension was a small piece in a very large Tri-Valley agreement.

For Pleasanton to annex the Staples Ranch property and to build the car dealerships and retirement communities that its community needed, it was required by Supervisor Scott Haggerty. It made the most sense to extend Stoneridge, rather than leaving an isolated community, accessible only via 580 and El Charro. Remember, too, that Haggerty had reminded Pleasanton that, if they did not become a positive member of the Tri-Valley community, then the Staples Ranch property could have been annexed into Livermore (I recall that Dublin staff had stated they would annex the property, should Livermore decline).

It was important to Livermore's then-Mayor Kamena that Stoneridge be extended to provide another route for residents of Livermore to reach the hospital in Pleasanton (which makes sense, if you agree that a city of 80,000+ people doesn't need its own hospital).

Livermore also would only agree to funding improvements on SR-84 if Stoneridge was extended, thereby making sure that if Livermore was going to take on a greater amount of traffic through their city on 84 and connecting streets, that Pleasanton was willing to put a little bit of skin in the game (and, at the very least, provide some relief for the residents who live along Valley). Livermore also agreed to extend W. Jack London on the condition that Pleasanton extend Stoneridge. Traffic studies also found that a piece of the alternative to extension was to create a third left-turn lane from Santa Rita onto Valley.

Additionally, it was my understanding that Dublin Blvd. would be extended to N. Canyons Parkway by the city of Dublin as part of the overall agreement, providing a parallel north of 580 and reducing the burden on Pleasanton residents along the Stoneridge corridor.

That's all that I think is relevant to this thread. I'm sure someone will tear into everything I have typed almost immediately, but the extension of Stoneridge eases access to the Outlets (and future Staples Ranch development and El Charro on ramp)for Pleasanton residents. The project is only partly complete, and I would hold determinations of success and failure until at least the new year.

But, it is laughable that LVMR a Menace thinks Livermore "tried to snatch Ruby Hills." Does not add to the conversation, only tries to distract. I'm pretty sure Pleasanton ended up with better end of that deal: Livermore got the traffic from the residents, Pleasanton got the property tax $$. Food for thought.

Mary, that's the point of stoneridge, so your son and others, can traverse between Livermore and Pleasanton, without regard to what is happening on 580. Circulation, the ability to traverse shorter distances, means cars are using our streets shorter periods of time, to conduct our lives inside the tri-valley.

I do remember when Santa Rita did not connect to Hopyard, I had to drive that loop to get to Lucky's. But, even more, I remember when I lived in the Vineyard/Bernal area, I had to go DOWNTOWN to get to Lucky's, because there was NO train tressle underpass. The Valley connection was only 20 years ago. The Livermore - Stonerige Drive extension was suppose to happen before Valley. Consider yourself lucky you had a temp repreive. Both Valley and Stoneridge should have opened at the same time....but, anyday it will get evened out.
Little Vervalis should not have been cut off either, it contributes to Valley's jam. There will be no more blockages allowed ever again...enough damage has been done with blockages. Those arteries may have to be opened soon, we're ready to burst.

Yes, this was a complete mess this weekend. You would have thought a huge concert was taking place in Livermore. I couldn't believe cars lined up on 580, just to go shopping.

I still hope that as people are making decisions in other communities, they look at this as an example. I have mentioned this a few days ago on another thread, but I continue to hope that Tracy does not approve the race track, theme park, concert hall, water fun, hotels, etc that a group is trying to pass. If that goes through, it will also impact our daily travels in the valley as people travel from far and wide to visit.

Pleasanton is well known for its poor roadway infrastructure. Drive through either Livermore or Dublin and you will find cities that planned for the development by providing major boulevards that connect all the areas of the city. Pleasanton let the developers have their way and cram all kinds of houses and businesses into our city without adequate roads to get around the place. The Pleasanton Business Park is probably one of the few exceptions to this overall poor planning process. Remember how Hostermann fought against making Vineyard Ave. four lanes as part of building Ruby Hill? Further back is the history of those portions of Bernal (S.E. Pls.) that narrow to one lane in either direction. And why was the access to Vintage Hills Elementary School such an after thought? Recently, we have that mess they created for Bernal Safeway--the intersection and roads were already overloaded before Safeway and little new was added.

Maybe we should fix this East Coast style and request an "Infrastructure" handout?

It wouldn't be such a traffic nightmare if there was more than one way in and one way out. That is true for the entire strip of the Tri-Valley along 580. Paragon and BART plus commuting from Tracy etc. its just too much for what is there now. Our family had no problems getting in and out of Pleasanton via Stanley. Which btw instead of spending money on infrastructure for 130 new stores… on Stanley Blvd you can now sit on a bench to look at cars whizzing by, run down train cars and a gravel pit. Come on people who doesn’t want to walk to Shadow Cliffs now!?

I moved to the Tri-Valley about a year and a half ago. I choose to live in Livermore, for one, because I felt I could drive around with less stress than in Pleasanton and Dublin. However, I need to travel between Pleasanton, Dublin, and Livermore a few times a week at various unpredictable times. I dread getting on 580 because you never know what it is going to be like. Now with the Outlet Malls it is a nightmare! This sucks. It is currently 11:40 Thanksgiving Day (20 minutes before Black Friday) and I am out of town. I am looking at a Caltrans Live Traffic camera that is looking east on 580 right at the El Charro Offramp to the outlet malls. Unfreaking believable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An absolute traffic nightmare. Traffic isn't even moving and it is extending out onto 580 outside of even the camera view. I am out of town on Thanksgiving giving thanks that I am out of town. Who the hell thought this one out? Obviously a bunch of absolute morons. Back to what I want to say. Locals of the Tri Valley need more side routes away from the 580 to be able to get around without having to give a rats ass about what is happening on the 580. I think the Stoneridge extension is a must. I also feel that Dublin Blvd should join North Canyons. I think this would give us all a way to more easily get around in between Livermore, Dublin, and Pleasanton. I shouldn't have to plan my day around 580 traffic.

Sorry Joe, we have a really backward team that like the Berkeley model of just one snake thru town, and their deadend minds, only visualize deadend streets thruout town. Selfish and small thinking to be fought. There would be no more 'dropping off the kids" anywhere. Take you hours, burning up fuel,attempting to carry out your life in Pleasanton, no more shortest route thinking, just deadends, and the snake from city limit to city lime divides the town, since it, also, becomes impossible...just another deadend to be added to all the other deadend streets, the small thinkers create with their narrow, selfish, backward thinking.

REpainting some line on the ramp would solve the problem. Go to Livermore council and demand they be repainted during some night next week...flow would ease the xmas insanity.... all will settle down. relax!
