A 75-year-old Pleasanton man was killed in a crash in Alameda County on Saturday, according to the coroner’s office.

William Evans was killed when his car left the roadway and struck a tree along Niles Canyon Road, a deputy with the Alameda County Coroner’s Office said.

No other vehicles appeared to have been involved in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.

  2. Too bad the locals value trees more than human lives. This is an extremely dangerous road that is badly in need of improvement, but the Sunolians were able to stop the improvements dead in its tracks. They should do some soul searching about how their actions may have contributed to this gentleman’s and others deaths.

  3. The poor gentleman died from a medical emergency. If you check your facts,Sunol citizens are not the only people trying to modify the improvements on Niles Canyon..

  4. Very sad to hear about this today… Bill was a cousin, and one of the nicest, good-hearted people you’d ever meet…

    As an ironic twist, I was invloved with the Niles Canyon improvements… From what I understood, the main issue was a fear of increased traffic and speeding, with “safeguarding the trees” used mainly as an excuse to halt the project…
