Skyrocketing gas prices & 0bama

Original post made by jimf01, another community, on Feb 24, 2012

The 0bama admin "can't have it both ways, as not-so-stupid Americans intuitively understand when they buy groceries or gas."
Since the media refused to vet 0bama in 2008, most voters did not know that his desire before entering office was for 'energy prices to skyrocket' via a plan of cap-and-trade. Web Link

When gas prices do jump and consumers are hurting, 0bama offers no sympathy to the average joe, only saying he hoped for a 'gradual adjustment' in gas prices. Web Link He supported higher gas prices for all before he was elected, he still supports them, and he will support them in the future.

I know I cannot put algae in my gas tank, but that was offered by 0bama yesterday as an alternative fuel.
As the author of the WSJ op-ed says: 0bama has also spent three years blaming George W. Bush for every economic ill. If Mr. 0bama now feels frustrated by economic events beyond his control, perhaps he should call Mr. Bush for consolation.

I don't think it much matters to him what gas costs.
He doesn't have to buy gas! We all buy it for him.

If Obama had nuked Iran already instead of imposing pansy sanctions, Iran wouldn't be withholding oil from Europe and causing world oil prices to go up like they are. A nuked Iran would be a much friendlier trade partner with Europe.

lf not nuking Iran, then he should at least have ordered an invasion by now. Like Iraq. Look how good that worked for us in getting all the oil we wanted from Iraq. Iraqi oil paid entirely for the cost of our invasion, just like Bush said it would.

Drilling on domestic soil has increased fourfold under Obama, but he continues to want to subsidize solar and wind companies. Sheeesh! Wouldn't you think they could compete against the subsidized oil industry on their own without help?

Finally, Jim, you're so right that Obama has planned to raise oil prices all along. He thinks it will help the muslim population in his own country of Kenya. At least, Jim, you, me and the rest of the not-so-stupid Americans have this noncitizen poser figured out.

Ah, I see, nevermind, your claim represents the soros funded thinkprogress talking point from a WSJ article that stated, in part, "1,069: The number of rigs drilling for oil in the U.S. this week."

Which of course has no direct correlation to the amount of oil being produced, the amount of oil production the oil companies would like to do on federal land closed off, or a change in dependence on foreign oil.

In fact, TP cited this statistic in an article meant to argue against further oil production domestically, they are algae suckers, just like 0bama.

This columns shoots down your silly assertion, and actually cites a source for the information Web Link

And finally, as for subsidizing solar and wind companies, I would settle for simply vetting the viability of the technology, so we subsidize technology that actually has a chance of working, and has a chance of being able to provide more than a tiny fraction of our energy needs.
0bama has been adept at directing funding to failures and political cronies. If we just stop doing that, we will make progress.

We could easily supply all our energy needs right here in our continent and mostly within our own 49 states on this continent....if only Obama and Pelosi would allow us to get off foreign oil !
We could start with a tiny step forward by saying yes to the pipeline immediately.
Meanwhile, back home in CA a jolt on today's prices...Colorado's gas this morning was reported exactly a full $1.00 LESS than California's ! ! That is astonishing and truly an assult on the people of CA.....MUCH of that difference is because
Ca radicals make us create uniquely different gas than the reat of our country...a very costly special blend the greens among us and our politicians require Californians to use. Each time you fill up, remember we tolerate this from the people we put in Sacramento.

The current oil drilling in North Dakota is on private lands.
Under no circumstances can Obama receive credit for this production.
If it were on public land, Obama would likely shut this production off.

He is the most dangerous President in U.S. history.

Obama is by far the most worst president in the history of the world. He puts sanctions on Iran when he should invade it, just like we did in Iraq. Because sanctions are really bad. And now the world demand for oil has increased, Obama twiddles his thumbs, while we should have American troops in Iran dodging IED's like happened in Iraq.

Write congress a letter to demand that they give US oil companies more than the 4 Billion in taxpayer subsidies it gave them this past year. Yes, they're making record earning profits, but they should. Because they care about us. And we should care about them by doubling subsidies and then converting all domestic Little League fields into lucrative oil drilling sites.

I agree, Johnny, it doesn't take a whole lot of thought to add on to what Jimbo has presented. It doesn't take any at all. But as fellow Republicans, who needs it? When rightness is on our side, we'll let the little minds like Former Student worry about facts.

Yeah, anybody can make up a graph like that. Another wisenhimer was saying earlier that domestic drilling has increased fourfold under the kool-aid guy Obambi. I could look these claims up easily enough. But why should I? I trust my own beliefs better than facts that are decimated through the lamestream media and elitist "scientific" community. Steve, on the other hand, has systematically debunked the biased chart you pulled from Obama's website. Notice how he so keenly and analytically shows how it's the result of a drunken kool-aid drinking staffer? Obama is bad, really really bad. We need to say NOPE TO HOPE in 2012. Vote for any of the four anti-hope candidates who embrace the platform: "Hey, if working-class families aren't spiralling down the drain, then it isn't capitalism! Voters need to know that 0bama's cabinet appointee, energy secretary Steven Chu, came out today and gave the direction of the 0bama energy policy for his 2nd term.

In 2008, in yet another statement prior to the election that most voters knew nothing about, because the mainstream media was refusing to vet 0bama and discuss his plans for the country, Steven Chu called for gradually ramping up gasoline taxes over 15 years to coax consumers into buying more-efficient cars and living in neighborhoods closer to work.

"Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe," Chu told the WSJ. Web Link

President 0bama apparently agreed with him, and gave him the highest office in the country dealing with energy policy.

Chu testified this week, and said that the Energy Dept was working to reduce the use of oil in the country, and promote biofuels and electric vehicles.
Rep. Alan Nunnelee asked Chu, "is the overall goal to get our price of gasoline down?"

“No, the overall goal is to decrease our dependency on oil.

So there you have it, the Obama administration is working only on alternative fuels and batteries, and not to lower gasoline prices.

The 0bama administration plan from the beginning of his term has been to increase the price of gasoline and other fossil fuels via regulation, first by cap & trade, which failed to pass, and now via inaction by the energy dept to do anything on gas prices, and by EPA actions which are making it more costly to generate electricity by burning coal.

GenOn Energy Inc. plans to close five of its older coal-fired power plants in Pennsylvania over the next four years.

The company, based in Houston, said Wednesday that tough new environmental rules make it unprofitable to operate the plants Web Link

Not-so-stupid indeed!, Steve, Kaye, jimf01....

I don't know where you guys have been for the past 12 years, but I assume under a rock. g.w. bush took office with a surplus from President Clinton. However, being a bush, he ended up spending more money in 8 years than ALL US Presidents combined! Make sure you thank him for that in this year's x-mas card!

As for the Obama Administration, why would they waist their time and our money trying to lower gas prices and control something the US has little control over? Why not find a cheaper source in which we're not dependent on middle-eastern countries? Could it be the conservatives don't what alternative means of gas because they and their cronies have a vested interest in gas prices? OPEN YOUR EYES, YOU SECOND CLASS BIGOTS!

You wonder why our county is so messed up...read the following accomplishments of our previous president:

g.w. bush's Accomplishments As President:

Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history (the 'poorest' multimillionaire, Condoleezza Rice, has an Exxon oil tanker named after her).
First president in U.S. history to have all 50 states of the Union simultaneously go bankrupt.
Presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market in any country in the history of the world.
First president in U.S. history to order a U.S. attack and military occupation of a sovereign nation.
Created the largest government department bureaucracy in the history of the United States.

First president in U.S. history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 U.S. elections).
All-time U.S. (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations.
My biggest lifetime campaign contributor presided over one of the largest corporate bankruptcy frauds in world history (Kenneth Lay, former CEO of Enron Corporation).
Spent more money on polls and focus groups than any president in U.S. history.
First president in U.S. history to unilaterally attack a sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community.
First president to run and hide when the U.S. came under attack (and then lied saying the enemy had the code to Air Force 1)
First U.S. president to establish a secret shadow government.
Took the biggest world sympathy for the U.S. after 9/11, and in less than a year made the U.S. the most resented country in the world (possibly the biggest diplomatic failure in U.S. and world history).
With a policy of 'disengagement' created the most hostile Israeli-Palestine relations in at least 30 years.
Fist U.S. president in history to have a majority of the people of Europe (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability.
First U.S. president in history to have the people of South Korea more threatened by the U.S. than their immediate neighbor, North Korea.
Changed US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts.
Set all-time record for number of administration appointees who violated U.S. law by not selling huge investments in corporations bidding for government contracts.
Failed to fulfill my pledge to get Osama Bin Laden 'dead or alive.'
Failed to capture the anthrax killer who tried to murder the leaders of our country at the United States Capital building. After 18 months I have no leads and zero suspects.
In the 18 months following the 9/11 attacks I have successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States.
Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in U.S. history.
In a little over two years created the most divided country in decades, possibly the most divided the U.S. has ever been since the Civil War.
Entered office with the strongest economy in U.S. history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down.

I actually liked the first Bush.Thought he was a smart and reasonable man.I think his son was a decent guy that cared about people but he was in a little over his head and was manipulated by the neoconservatives. He wound up being a disaster but he was certainly not evil as the far left liked to paint him.Obama is actually a moderate democrat regardless of all the silliness you guys love to label him with.I am sure you all know that Ronald Reagan raised taxes 17 times and the individual mandate in healthcare was actually a conservative idea.I am sure you also know that we have the lowest tax rate in history for the wealthiest Americans right now.I am sure you also know that job creation since the Bush tax rates went into effect has been a disaster as has our economy.

C'mon Hoopster, let's set the record straight. The second Bush was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and pretended he was a common guy who cared about common people. Of course, like all good rich kids, he didn't give two hoots about the common people. And face it, why should he have? They never did anything for him. And yes, he wasn't evil; his policies of torture and rendition of prisoners to countries that tortured better than us was indication enough of him being a decent guy. He could've just chopped off their heads! Score one for decency.

As if we haven't suffered enough, we are going to continue taking hard hits for decades, because we haven't been allowed to provide for ourselves ! China and India are sucking up resources faster than we can generate for ourselves.. We must do everything. We have WASTED valuable TIME. We need lead TIME to wise up and gear up. Do everything..now! Drill, drill, drill. Commission and start ASAP many new nuclear plants the ONLY VOLUME, CARBON-FREE power, which those electric cars rolling off the assembly line NEED to plug into ! ! Of course lead time is required. Our country will be shut down beacuse all the road-blocks STANDING in our way are making us WAIT while being brought to out knees!! We can't manufacture TIME, which we are frittering away. Solar is great...but miniscule, impossible to provide adequate supply for decades. There should be solar supply mounted on every electric car sold. Every government vehicle, at every level should be fueled with our US natural gas...which could happen in a reasonable time, while we're updated our nuclear supply. So sad all Pelosi ever did was TALK about not using FOREIGN oil, but did NOTHING to move Americans toward being self-sufficient.(except funding solyndara, got no solar). Canada is beating us bigtime in providing for themselves. All on this continent should be working together.

Why isn't gasoline a public utility?

Exxon made 42 billion in profit last year, 9.2 billion in the last quarter alone, even as it was boosting prices to all time highs.

If Obama even hinted he was exploring the idea of nationalizing big oil I guarantee prices would plummet.
