Oh come on Joe of Sienna -- none of your insightful comments from your insider's perspective of how the police screwed this up? Maybe they should have waited a few more days to be certain they had the right guys. Or maybe they should have said "mother may I" before making the arrest. Since you know so much and have so much to criticize about the PPD let's hear it from Joe the expert.
The rest of us will just say thanks to the PPD for another job well done.

Thanks, Pleasanton PD, for tracking and apprehending the latest scum from the east bay that have come here to victimize the hard working residents of our city. Hopefully, the word gets out to the boys in the hood, that the tri valley is not the easy pickins their homies told them it was........

Plain clothes officers were ultimately deployed in an effort to apprehend the suspects involved in these cases while detectives followed up on various leads."
And the investigative effort paid off big dividends when. . .
"on Dec. 19, witnesses saw two men burglarizing a vehicle at Stoneridge Mall and called police."

You've got to hand it to the Pleasanton police. I've never heard of another police department investigating, much-less solving a vehicle burglary.

Michaelfox has it right! Many other PDs will not take the time to investigate, and have no interest in solving "property" crimes like this.
That's one reason these scum do it so often.
If the PD will catch these guys they'd solve many crimes. If they lock 'em up, they'd prevent more.
Once in SF on a Saturday morning I found a parking place, right where my car had been. Long story short: SF PD had almost no interest in investigating, did everything wrong, including failing to tell me when it was found (minus valuables, and parts) so I had to pay for 14 days "storage". They also failed to "Recover" the car, a CHP form, which meant I was driving a car that was still officially listed as stolen.
And if anything Oakland PD is as bad...
