Wow... happened at 1am yet 3 tow trucks were still trying to deal with it when I crawled by at 8:10am. And they had been there since at least 6:30am when my husband crawled by. Solo accident... does that mean the driver fell asleep at the wheel? Really made a mess of the morning commute.

To make the turn from Calaveras Road to the i680 southbound on-ramp requires that this big rig either stop or come to almost a complete stop. How do you go from a stopped position to rolling down an embankment in less then 150 yards? on road that is straight as an arrow?

Maybe at 2am this wasn't affecting traffic, but by 8:00am traffic was bumper to bumper all the way to Alcosta Blvd.

This accident and others like it makes you wonder whether truck drivers take a special "stupid" pill before they make the trek over the Sunol grade.

the driver didnt fall asleep. it was a case of loss of traction and going into a spin off the side of the highway. but keep driving cars and you to will meet the fate of that professional driver. the accident happened at 0518 am.
