The old Santa Rita Nob Hill location is just about a mile from the location of the current Walmart. Two Walmarts within about a mile of each other? Just can't see that happening.

From what I have heard it is going to be a Walmart Grocery store only, instead of expanding the current walmart to add a Larger Grocery section they are going to build it where Nob Hill was.

Does this mean we will be seeing motor homes and travel trailers spending a few days/weeks in the parking lot? I guess it doesn't matter, the place will be come a dump just like every other Walmart I have ever seen.

If they build a Walmart supermarket it can also serve as the local headquarters for the Pleasanton Tea Party. They'll be able to support America by buying cheap products from China and produce from Mexico. I guess buying America products is now anti-America for all you "patriots".

Sal, what is it you have against 50- and 60-something Americans on their hands and knees stocking shelves with Chinese products and doing so for minimum wage with no benefits or pension? Isn't this part of the American dream? Sometimes I wish I hadn't inherited my 1/2 billion for Daddy so that I could get down on all fours like that. Say, you haven't ever cited Max Weber have you?

I must comment since Leland and Sal try to trash anything that might be thought by some to be center or center right. Their narrow-mindedness should not stop normal PW discussions among locals.
I'm all for a WalMart grocery center. (after all the 1,000 whatever LOW-income housing units we will be building, will have to shop somewhere). Right now I am so thrilled with the new Sprouts, I haven't been to Safeway since. Freash & Easy is OK for certain items, and Trader Joes is still the best for in & out and known quality, But I found myself going back to Sprouts for a second time for major shopping.

I agree Sal. Maybe the Walmart can also serve as a high school once the Tea Party/conservatives defund our public schools. Conservatives would rather give their money to Walmart and the Chinese economy, than support our schools. Figures!

i live in the fairlands area....think it s a great idea....some of the comments here show why this state and country are in the shape it is in.......bashing and labeling people in the poorest of light....over a food store....pleazzzzze

If you in Cal don't want the Wal-Mart, we in Texas'll take it. My goal is to have a Wal-Mart in every population area having over 150 people.
