D-Day honor for Pleasanton veteran

French Consul General Romain Serman has honored Pleasanton veteran Robert L. Vannatter with the French Legion of Honor medal for his part in the liberation of France during World War II. The award was presented at the consul general's office in San Francisco.

Thank you Robert for your service and heroism during the second world war. Also, I thank you for documenting your time in the Army so that future generations can know and appreciate the sacrifices made by so many good men and women in our military. Because of you and others like you, America is free, and truly the Home of The Brave.
You helped to change the world. I am forever grateful to you.
