Seeing as my answer to Former P\Towner's question was removed for whatever reason...

To answer your question there was in fact a suicide, according to the Pleasanton Patch. It happened around 2pm Tuesday in the creek. The police stated they will not be releasing any information regarding the subject except that "it was not a teen or youth".

I honestly to understand the need to delete perfectly reasonable and on topic comments. Is it the fact I mentioned the Patch? I wouldn't have to if the weekly had anything on this story, and I only do so as to cite my source of information. I wonder if the PW will feel the need to delete this again?

I've lived in Pleasanton for going on 20 years. I know the police hushups are intended to protect someone, but it never seems to be me. I walk down in the Arroyo all the time - I was down there one day several years ago when several men with t-shirts that said "police" were swarming around under the railroad bridge. They asked me if I'd seen anyone - particularly a man with a head scarf. I said no, and went on my way - that didn't seem to bother them. (I had 2 rather large dogs, a whistle, and a cell phone, so I personally wasn't worried). However, the next man I encountered (in a suit) very gruffly told me to quickly exit the area. As one can see, I got mixed messages on whether it was safe to be there or not - it all seemed to be in the interest of not letting me know what was going on, to protect who?

No - they shouldn't divulge the identity of the person, whether it be a suicide, suspected criminal, victim - but it sure seems that the police go beyond that to keep any noteworthy "incident" from seeing the light of day. So we all go on wondering. Although this suicide is very disturbing, and terribly sad, I would rather know. If for no other reason than to send up a prayer for peace and comfort for his/her grieving family.

What would you like to know and why? Is this person's death a threat to you in any way? There are times when the need to know is important. This is not one of them. In other words, it is none of your business.
