Buchanan talks budget to voters

While Joan Buchanan (D., Alamo) focused on the overall state budget situation and Gov. Brown's combination of budget cuts and tax extensions, many attending her open house Saturday were more concerned about his plan to end local redevelopment funds.

I believe there were over 50 people for the talk and it was very educational for me. She explained why this extension is needed. It is just like credit card debt. Not charging card (reducing our budget) is good, but maintaining our income (taxes for the state) is essential to reduce the debt. She also pointed out that we are paying lower taxes than her parents. She told us that she is willing to pay more tax to support education. I agree with her. Our governor has to work on numerous number of issues. Let him start working.
