Whenever I read any article on TVU I get surprizes. Why people are blaming to Indians for this scam, instead of US Govt. and their authorities who issued license to Susan and she had papers to enrol the candidates. None of Indian student came to US without paper, they came here with a valid visa which were issued from the Embassy of US in India. If US officers did mistake to check the documents or issueing the visa, then why studnets are blamed for this all. It is like a job opportunity, when you work somewhere and get another offer with better salary and packages. Students took the admission in the same condition when University offered compatative rates and flexible timings for the classes. They were not enrolled free, they have paid a good amount of money to study in the USA and with proper documents, and worked on authorized work permit. Indian studnets are not guilty, they became a victim of this scam.
No one raise fingure on US officers for those...why they issued license to Susan and why have they issued visas on such papers????

I do take offense that people come into this country to enjoy the freedom and benefits, yet are not subject to Selective service status or the draft. It's my understanding these folks, their kids, and other illegal immigrants would be exempt from a draft if we had one. Does anyone have a better understanding of this.

These indians knew exactly what they were doing and should be treated like any other illegals. indians are crying for no reason and accept US laws

Indians are crying for justice, they did not do any blast on Times Sqare and shot anyone like other immigrants. They believe in higher education and serving top posts in big firms. All IT sector is covered by an Indian as a result of their hard work and knowledge. However they are competing in Businesses as well. Susan Su is walking free on the street and resting in her casstle but innocent students became a victim of her greed. Everyone cries when he/she is such situation and not involved in any activity, here is the matter of justice not to cry or laugh!!

@ sillygirl
You are aptly named.
"people come into this country to enjoy the freedom and benefits, yet are not subject to Selective service status or the draft"
These foreign nationals who come here as foreign students do not enjoy the same benefits as you and I do. Heck, their rights are not even protected by our Constitution nor do they have the right to come and go whenever they want. They are, afterall, foreign nationals. No country in the world that I'm aware of require foreigners to join their military.
"these folks, their kids, and other illegal immigrants would be exempt from a draft if we had one"
Unless they become LEGAL permanent residents or citizens of this country, they are foreigners. If you were to live in Canada as an American citizen, they cannot require you to join their military either.
Where did you goto school again?

@ monika:
"...innocent students became a victim of her greed."
These students must not be very smart if they cannot see that this school is a scam. According to this article, one of the conditions of the student visa REQUIRES that they attend classes. Instead, they violated the condition of their visa by attending "classes" online. Are you to tell me that they are not smart enough to see through that? Wow!

US citizen should voice their concerns about fraudulent Immigration.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials [email protected]
Students were knowing participants in fraud against US citizens.
The US Indian community says the "students knowingly committed fraud."
The Times of India news Web Link
"Students in Tri-Valley University apparently got a 20% cut from the sham varsity for every admission they facilitated: The commission was lucrative as it was calculated on the tuition fee.
Moreover, many from Andhra Pradesh had taken a circuitous route to Tri-Valley — first joining another varsity and then landing up at the fake varsity, lured probably by its offer of instant employment.
Indian students ignored red flags
Web Link
“Hundreds of Indian students who have gotten scammed by a dodgy California-based university had it coming. Tri-Valley University (TVU) had a reputation as a "Diploma Mill" that offered a spurious route to employment and immigration in the US. Inquiring students and professionals knew about it, discussed it in immigration forums, and warned others about it. “
“as long as students can pay thousands of dollars up front in the form of various 'fees.' More pertinently, these colleges dubiously facilitate Optional Practical Training(OPT) and Curricular Practical Training (CPT), the two routes to employment at the end of the college degree, from the first day of enrollment.“
“Under current US law, students cannot take only online courses while on an F-1 status, a scam TVU managed to perpetrate.”
"Has any one got any experience with Tri-Valley University?" inquired one person on an immigration forum. He had heard they offer "hassle free admission, gre, gmat not mandatory, tofel (sic) is pretty much the only requirement low semester fee, OPT, CPT from the day the course starts. no tests, no mandatory online classes, a perfect way to bypass the visa process!"
“The growing sense among officials and even the Indian community is that many students knew what they were getting into but still risked it. "They know what the rules are - problem is, some of them work within the Indian mentality that the rules are made to be avoided and that the government is a nuisance, not a power to be reckoned with," Nandita Ruchandani, a New York-area immigration attorney who has dealt with such cases.”

Obama referred to a "Sputnik moment" for America due an educational challenge from China and India. But hundreds of thousands of Chinese and Indians make a beeline to American universities every year for higher education and India's education minister has been trying hard to bring American universities to India and was stopped only by me. India may produce more than half a million engineering graduates a year versus seventy thousand for the United States but four hundred thousand of these Indian engineering graduates will be hired just this year to work as software coolies for the United States. This is the problem with having a person of color as president; white Americans know Indians and Chinese are their slaves but not this president; a person of color cannot be the Americans' legitimate president.
Indians' slavery to whites is seen most starkly in this: I am India's expert in strategic defence and the father of India's strategic program, including the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program. In my blog titled 'Nuclear Supremacy For India Over U.S.', which can be found by a Yahoo search with the title, I have described how the C.I.A. keeps India poor, weak and enslaved: "India's greatest scientist and greatest living Indian publicly tortured in Harvard seminar, systematically and totally starved for up to 3 weeks at a time, made semi-starved and homeless and even blind for years, kept under 24-hour audio and video surveillance as well as surveillance of communications and electrical typewriter and computer use, document creation and photocopying, etc., by satellite for more than past 3 decades, systematically harassed and in poverty and neutralised and robbed of his work at the cost of hundreds of millions of dollars per year, robbed of crores in his money and property in India by C.I.A.-RAW, forced back into exile in the U.S., all with full cooperation and participation of India's RAW and India's C.I.A.-RAW-controlled prime ministers, politicians and media -- to keep India poor, weak and enslaved" and how this means the nuclear destruction of New Delhi and then the coast-to-coast destruction of the United States.
As I said in letters to the press at the time, Army Chief Gen. B. C. Joshi was killed by RAW for showing my influence in his comments about Indians going abroad for higher education. In a published letter to the press dated March 1, 2001, I had said "India's lazy and stupid generals spend their time saluting Criminal Blackie Slaves such as India's prime ministers & each other ... ." After that India's Army Chief had stopped saluting Vajpayee and used to send lower-rank officers to shake hands with him at the airport when he went on foreign trips as prime minister while Vajpayee saluted the officers. Before that in a letter to the press I had said that India's service chiefs should declare allegiance to me. They can still do that.

Dishonest people and lack of Homeland Security is to blame. We will be paying for this through the healthcare reform bill as these people will not have healthcare insurance. We will be paying for their kids to go to school with school funds which are limited. Then when they are all educated, the jobs will go back to their country.

Oye, Oye,
These caste-banging Indians knew what they were doing. They are slick, very slick people. They pretend to be dumb when it serves them.
AS for these caste-banging Indians calling the US immigration corrupt; it is like the pot calling the kettle black. There no government on earth that is more corrupt than the Indian government.
As for the braggadocio, caste-banging, Indian boasting about inventing everything in the high-tech companies, that is a blatant lie. Every group in the US has contributed in one shape or another towards the technological advancement of the US. If it is true that they invented everything in the high tech companies, why didn’t they stay in India and invent stuff. They should bless America for saving them from the backward, poverty stricken, caste-banging; banana republic called Hindustan.
The most educated minority group in the US is Nigerians. Check the department of labor statistics. So enough boasting about Indians believing in higher education.
We Caucasians are good at giving poor people the opportunity to beat us academically.

Ummm...have we forgot the one glaring issue here that this "college" (if you can call it that) was a total scam from it's very inception? There was never any intent on providing any education, training or vocational assistance aside from how to cheat the US government into obtaining a student visa. Clearly these "poor yet highly educated Indians" were cognizant as to the true nature of TVU & gladly accepted the consequences when they "enrolled" at said institution.
As is the case in any incident where foreign nationals are being granted access to this country in the age of drug trafficking, slavery & of course terrorism it is ever more so important to keep close tabs on just who is coming & going. TVU acted as a conduit for a flood of illegal's to gain access to this country & when compounded with the fact that they bilked these poor folks for their life savings in some instances should be the main reason for your anger.

I don't think anyone is bilking these students. They know very well that they were taking a risk. They know right from wrong. They are just good at making people feel sorry for them (poor little indian boys and girls just trying to better themselves....ha).
The largest illegal immigrant group, after latinos, to cross the southern border is Indians. These people are paying up to $20,000 for travel to Cental and South American countries and for payment to "guides" so they can make their way across the Mexican-US border.
The DHS does not know why all of a sudden there is such a huge influx of indians from the southern border. (how about trained technical cheap labor? duh)

This immigration loophole needs to be tightened up all over the U.S. we don't need unskilled foreigners taking jobs in our country, period. A lot of these so called students are trying to work here, or trying to get pregnant and increase the entitlement debt. American born college graduates are having enough competition for jobs without having foreigners with BOGUS visas competing for the same jobs. Try being an American student looking for work in this economy! Send them packing please. And take that woman's fraudulent earned house away and deport her if possible too. Can't they revoke her citizenship if she is a felon?
We need to get rid of the pregnant tourist visa loopholes too. Citizenship should not be given to the best bribing foreigner... we should only let people become citizens if their parent is a citizen or they have a unique and rare skill that we need (like doctors or computer scientists) with a specific job that they can prove cannot be filled by an American
Everyone else should get in line and we need to strengthen the law so that anchor babies born after the date of the clarified law cannot be citizens automatically. The tourists that are pregnant, and illegals that get pregnant are just after your social security money via their kids because they do not have it in their countries.

1) how did this woman get this university going for so long? why isn't there an agency watching who is coming into the country? (really looking at visas, reason for being here, etc).
2) now that they found out, why not deport all the "students" asap? For those "students" who claim they did not know it was a fraud, come on, all you have to do is read the website, it is full of grammatical errors. In India, most people are fairly proficient in English, so I do not buy that nonsense about the "students" not knowing this was not legitimate - they should have questioned it.
3) UC Berkeley needs to be looked at. How can they issue a degree to someone with such poor English skills? UC Berkeley and all US universities should have an English proficiency requirement in order to obtain a degree. High school students must pass the exit exam (sure it is easy but better than nothing); colleges should require proficiency in English, especially if the graduate intends to stay in the US permanently. UC Berkely: I thought you were a top university, I guess not!

First of all, Monika must have graduated from the same school that Susan did, hence they both spell very much the same and she is totally sticking up for the poor, innocent students, yeah right! They are poor, innocent students my rear! They knew exactly what they were doing and just tried to pull one over until they finally got caught!!
Bill, N and Hmmmmm, you are ALL right on! I couldn't have said it any better.
Hmmmmm, I also questioned Berkeley, however, how do we know that Susan didn't come up with a fake diploma like she did everything else fake?

Every student of this "college" knew they were gaming the American system. So I don't have any sympathy. None. Even if they paid a lot of money for their classes...If it's wrong...it's wrong. And they knew it.
The one thing I came away with is that I've been pleasantly surprised that ICE was on top of this. I've lived in Ruby Hill for 11 years and I had no idea this was going on. Nooo idea...I drove by the house the day it happened and the house was crawling with ICE agents, taking their jobs seriously. Kudos to them.

I doubt that the owner was the one who set up the webpage, if she went to Berkeley. All accredited universities require an English proficiency test. If they come from a "non-English" country (or Quebec) they need to take TOFEL Even as a post-baccalaurette at a reputable California university, with a degree from an out-of-country English university, I was required to take the English proficiency test. So IF Su does have a Berkeley degree, she had to take the test to enter (or transfer) to Berkeley.

India can provide all the students going abroad for postgraduate studies with comparable or better education within India in just a matter of one year. The content of all the courses -- mostly in engineering and science -- that Indians take in U.S. and other universities is available in books that can be purchased in tens of thousands of copies each. Thousands of Indians who teach engineering and science courses in the U.S. can be hired at comparable salaries to teach in India -- hired through private institutions if government rules don't allow giving them such high salaries. Laboratory equipment can be purchased and laboratories set up in a matter of months and a year is plenty of time to build the necessary class rooms and hostels. All this will cost a fraction of the approximately ten billion dollars per year Indians spend on higher education abroad. The reason Indians go abroad for higher education is the cachet attached to foreign degrees and the prospect of a job abroad at Western salary levels -- but these exist due to the same reason for which India wastes billions upon billions of dollars on worthless fighter aircraft and other equipment and does not build thousands of nuclear-armed missiles capable of reaching the United States: both are expressions of slavery to the white man. I am India's expert in strategic defence, the father of India's strategic program including the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program and the world's greatest scientist with forty four years of experience -- including ten years of postgraduate studies -- in the United States and elaborations on the above are in my blog titled 'Nuclear Supremacy For India Over U.S.' which can be found by a Yahoo search with the title.
