McNerney's (and Obama's) War on the Young

Original post made by Steve, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Oct 3, 2010

I wholeheartedly agree with the article linked below. As an excerpt,

"...the debt we are amassing will have to be shouldered by the young throughout their working lives. President Obama has added nearly $3 trillion to that debt in his first two years in office (after his predecessor had added more than $4 trillion in his eight years). And Obama’s budget would add a total of more than $11 trillion over just the next decade. By the time today’s young workers are at the peak of their working lives, America’s national debt will equal more than 200 percent of our GDP (up from roughly 60 percent today), according to the Congressional Budget Office. Today’s young voters will be left with the bill, but without many of the benefits of that spending."

Here is the article >>> Web Link

The author calls it a "war" however a strong argument could also be made that it is "child abuse" that Obama and the Congressional Democrats are inflicting on our defenseless and innocent children...and generations beyond.

I guess you must have thought the same when Bush took an economy that was paying off the National Debt and projected surpluses and turned it into record deficits.

Didn't you know Steve is based in Bangladesh (Sorry Bangladeshis for this embarrassment). He gets about $12/mo from Harmer.

What is that old adage? "Two wrongs don't make a right."

Bush was terrible regarding fiscal responsibility, but I'm getting tired of the typical progressive response that essentially justifies the current spending binge because Bush did it. Will it be O.K. for the post-Obama president to use the same line of logic?

Both administration eras are bankrupting this country.

And Harmer's war on the young? He has stated that he wants to dismantle the public education system and do away with public schools.
Please explain to me how that will help our young people.

If you only read that headline "dismantle public education" one might wonder what the alternative is.

However, before you rush to judgment, do you remember the recent issue about the many black students who were formerly attending a failing DC public school ... who were given vouchers to attend a charter school (or a private one...I forget the details). Anyway they were performing in their new school much much better. (Then Obama and Sen. Dick Durbin decided to pull the plug on letting any other public schoolers attend this better quality school.)

David Harmer is a fighter for childrens' overall education...and like many many people believe the public school system needs to have competitors.

That is what he is for...and I can assure you that he believes teachers unions do not have kid's education as their top priority.

If you care about this issue, I would encourage you to read about David's work published by the highly regarded CATO Institute. Web Link

We have a fantastic public school system in the area and the election of Harmer would not help them to continue to improve. We need to keep Jerry McNerney as our rep to protect and support our schools. Harmer does not even live in District 11 and has shown he does not support public education.

That's right, "Eliminate free-market choice in America" is the Democrat's mantra...including Jerry (Socialist, Pelosi-lapdog) McNerney.

In case you hadn't heard, public schools in Calif are nearly the worst in the America...despite the PUSD schools better than average Calif schools.

If PUSD schools are so great...then why are you and McNerney afraid of increasing educational choice?

Eliminating the free-market is what totalitarian governments do.

Chet...move to Chavez's Venezuela or North Korea. Go to where people of your socialist mindset and values live.

Chet, you are deceiving yourself, Bush couldn't have done anything 3 abd 4 years ago....without approval the ALL DEM CONGRESS his last 2 years...Pelosi was running roughshod over the lame-duck president.
Congress is charged with money matters (debts passes on to our children today). Dem Congress then, just like DEM now ! Bush barely opened his mouth during that code pink and Kusenich were always causing riots in the streets and Olberman was shouting liar, liar every day... Media standards were SO, SO different then than now. Now the WHINER-in-chief just SILENCES any reporters he doesn't want reporting....really low, cowardly, and UNpresidential.
