There are two that come to mind in Pleasanton - Early Years is a great after school program and they provide pick-up at the schools so you might want to check there. Also, Walnut Grove has EDCC (Early Development Childcare Center I think???) -- have you moved yet? I would suggest moving to Pleasanton Valley, Birdland or Del Prado areas or anywhere closer to the center of town....Mohr is a bit out there.

My son is in Kindergarten at Mohr and he attends Centerpointe. They pick him up every day. He has been attending Centerpointe's preschool since he was 3 and they have an amazing staff. Your child will feel comfortable and loved there. Good luck and welcome to Pleasanton!

We were faced with the same problem a number of years ago when our son was attending Mohr (he is now going to be a junior in college, so it was some time ago). We tried Kindercare, and did not like it for various reasons. We switched to the Quarry Lane after school program, and he loved it. Very reliable and nice. They also had a great summer program. An alternative to day care is having a college-aged sitter pick up the kids from school, make them a healthy snack at home and then help with homework, drive them to music / playdates / park / sports activiteis, etc. That way the kids don't miss out on the activities the stay-at-home kids get to do. Also, it is a lot more flexible as you can arrange later times from time to time and it is not a $1 / minute emergency if you get stuck in traffic. www.Sittercity.com is a great place to look for someone. They screen their people ahead of time and you can see their background and the schedule they are available.

We ran into the same problem when my son was going to start at Mohr. That plus all the non-school days which makes it very difficult for working parents, made us decide to enroll him at the Hacienda School which is just down the street from Mohr School on Stoneridge. What a relief, it is a year round, full day program with no homework and allows us to take vacation anytime that works well for our schedules. The school is only closed on the same days that my work is closed. The staff is excellent and we found recently that he has already been introduced and is working in some subjects a year above public school grade level.
