Who is Fred Watson and why is he running for City Council?

Original post made by Lillian, Downtown, on Aug 16, 2010

I think everyone should be very aware of all the candidates running for city council.

I am particularly alarmed at one candidate. Fred Watson. I found comments he has posted on Websites to be racist.

Copy and past this link into your Web browser location field and
you will see who the real Fred Watson is. His handle is fcwatson.
resistnet.com/profile/FCWATSON?xg_source=activity

One comment he posted regarding President Obama I will quote. "He is nothing more than a punk and a street corner hood, and all the psycho babble that goes along with it.

I knew this the minute I heard him talk. I use to arrest his kind for a living, and you soon learn the thug talk; shuck and jive, and nothing good is going to come out of it."

At one time he had a link on his Facebook page to another Facebook page that was wishing for Obama's death. You can become a friend of his and see what else he has said unless he removed comments that would not be in the his best interest as a city council candidate.
So now he is trying to hide what kind of person he really is.
On the Pleasanton Tea Party Website he is on the board of directors
and at one time had the title of 'Director of Security'. That was changed recently to 'Lead Volunteer'. So what is the Pleasanton Tea Party trying to cover up?

Fred Watson's handle is fcwatson. Google that and see what you get.
Can't hide past posted comments from Google's memory cache.

Three words come to my mind when I read what Fred Watson has to say.
Racist, radical and extremist.

I'm opening this up for everyone to comment who would like to.

Sounds like some liberals are getting a tad worried. I remember the line, "How could he have won, I don't know any of my friends that voted for him!"

Just a reminder. Anyone can post anonymously using any "handle" they chose if they aren't a registered user. I'll bet at least 15 to 20 people have used the handle "Cholo" on this site.

I do find it very interesting that geller would immediately go to calling someone he's probably never met a "racist bigot" right out of the gate. Unfortunately President Obama has double talked frequently including his most recent episode of saying he supported a mosque at ground zero, and the yesterday saying that support was in no way his consent to put it there. It is near impossible to get a straight answer of any type out of the man. And don't even start talking about changing position on issues.

Geller,

You are a typical left-wing loon that tries to affix the racist label on anyone and everyone that doesn't agree with your political thinking. Right out of the Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid playbook. Pelosi's other favorite label for her adversaries is Nazi, even though she is the closest thing I have seen to a Nazi in America.

Remember the charges of racist taunts at the Tea Party rally in DC? It was totally fabrication by left-wing loons. There were thousands of video cameras at the event, and the $100,000 reward offered for ANY footage of racist taunts was never claimed.

So, please quit trying to incite racial strife just to get left-wing loons elected.

Wow Lillian, thanks for the good info! Imagine the audacity of this Fred Watson fellow having the nerve to call our fearless leader "nothing more than a punk and a street corner hood" when he (BHO) has clearly shown his service to the community, state & nation by his unyielding efforts as a community activist/organizer, believer in free speech & religious practices (aka supporting Jerimiah Wright) his dedication to the rights of "misunderstood" political ideologists (i.e. William Ayers, the weather underground et. al.) & just because he has never held a job of any note within the private sector his sheer genius & economic aptitude should more than qualify him to assume control of such major industries as the banking, automotive manufacturing & energy production in the country.

Please, Lillian if [portion removed due to overt use of sarcasm, liberal bashing & just plain silly nonsensical blabbering] would have never stepped into the race.

Oh by the way Fred, you just won my vote & perhaps the election. Good luck!

I don't know the political side of Fred Watson, but I know another side of him. He's not a very organized or focused person. I feel that the other candidates would serve the city much better.

Good Luck Fred Watson...we the people need your type of thinking, but if you are just full of hot air and become one of those self serving officials...then we the people will vote you out as quickly as we voted you in, so remember you work the the good of the people and not yourself.

I shouldn't be, but I am very surprised about the comment made by the editing person for the PW.. all those choice words. It really appears you enjoy controlling what we the people read and don't read...[overt use of sarcasm, liberal bashing & just plain silly nonsensical blabbering]

I'm starting to believe the PW is on the same crash course as the Danville Weekly. Your days are limited.

Thanks for listening, Julia from Alamo

Lillian,
Ironically, I met Mr. Watson Saturday morning after attending a Men's christian breakfast. I found him to be a likable person. So after reading your account of him, and being the skeptic that I am, I did a little research on Mr. Watson myself. I was saddened to find out just what this man's tainted views are, and some of the language that he uses doesn't sit well with me. However, I encourage everyone to do the same. Go to his site and read the mans own words. If you agree with him, vote for him. Heck, I'm an independent voter. I vote for the person who I think most closely reflects my positions with humility and intelligence. His words and attitude most certainly do NOT coincide with mine. One person, one vote. I hope the PW readers educate themselves on ALL the candidates before they cast their ballot. Then again, ignorance is bliss....

Conservatism, at least in its Tea Party incarnation, is ideological and abstract, not pragmatic and concrete. Air-fairy ideas about “freedom” are considered much more important than a working knowledge of local issues, so I'm not sure Mr. Watson would be a good fit for city council.

Hal,
After living with the dysfunctional Council we've had, how can you question Mr. Watson's interpretation of freedom? I've had enough of the current City Council -- I'm ready for a change.

Hal you leave me no choice...but to quote Ayn Rand.

..."Intellectual freedom cannot exist without political freedom; political freedom cannot exist without economic freedom; a free mind and a free market are corollaries."

I know that probably made you break out in a nasty case of hives, sorry (he, he, he!) but YOU just showed your prejudicial & elitist political bias in the best possible way. Thanks!

It isn't his definition of freedom that bothers me, it is some of the words he chooses. Go back and look at that read the full text of what he wrote. I agree with what Merlin said above. It seems to me that Watson needs to clean up his message before he runs for public office.

Fred Watson has started to hide all his comments. They are no longer
available to the public at the Website.

So now the question is what is he hiding and why is he hiding it?

I challenge Fred Watson to open his comments on resistnet.com for the
public to view. The people have a right to know who you are.

His Facebook page still shows him as a fan of the Facebook page that
wishes for Obama's death.

Fred - I know who you are. I've met you. You are a man of integrity, honesty & courage. The city needs *many* more like you. You have my vote.

Lillian - The "race card" is the last thing a liberal uses when they can't find anything of real substance to argue about. Thanks for confirming you couldn't find anything relevant against Fred. The fact that you won't even meet with Fred shows that you are just afraid of finding out the truth. Yes, much better to make wild assumptions based on things like speculations over why links have been deleted from various websites. Solid strategy there, my friend.

Fred Watson has not made any statements on Pleasanton issues.
All he does is talk national issues in the way an extremist would.

The bigger question is why would he hide the comments he has
posted in the past all over the Web?

Is that the kind of local representative you want? One who tries
to hide how he really feels.

I've been reading the other thread where Rae asks Fred some reasonable questions about his positions on Pleasanton issues and to explain his description of Pleasanton as a cesspool of moral filth as well as his claim that all Muslims are terrorists. It's fascinating to watch how quickly he disappeared from the conversation once people were aware of his extremist statements. Do we need a Jan Brewer on our City Council here? Looks like the same thing with Lillian: "let's get coffee" so he can close down the conversation going on publicly.

Lillian, Rae: keep pursuing the truth! We need to shed some light in the dark corners of this town.

--------

LOL!!! More changes on your campaign website, Mr. Watson? You’re really caught up in that good old politician’s spin cycle trying to wash the dirt out of your laundry! Web Link

During the last revision of your “about” page (LOL!! Was that only a week ago??) you said that "Pleasanton has a lot to offer” and is “special to us all”. That was, of course, a much different view from your June 22, 2009, comment on “resistnet.com” where you said: “I live in one part of the moral filth pit of California, known as the S.F. East Bay.” Or your Sept 24, 2009, comment on the same site where you said: “I live in the east bay area of Sin city biblically referred to as Sodom and Ghomora [sic].” Web Link Web Link

In the current version of who you are trying to convince Pleasanton voters you are, you have removed the phrases "Pleasanton has a lot to offer” and is “special to us all”. (I guess we’re not so “special” after all, but hey, we already got that message!) You now say that “the people of Pleasanton have only tapped into a small part of the greater potential we all share with each other to make Pleasanton the family community we all value.” So, we’re still a “moral filth pit”, a “Sin city” which can be “referred to as Sodom and Ghomora [sic]”, but you’re going to clean us up so we can “make” Pleasanton a “family community we all value”????

News flash, Mr. Watson . . . Pleasanton is *already* a “family community we all value”! That's one of the reasons we get so passionate about who we elect to run our City government.

You’ve also completely removed your pledge to integrate "projects involving multicultural and varying social economic entities." Was it too much to think that you might have to work with those Pleasanton residents and business owners of our Muslim community you’ve call “terrorists” because of their choice of religion? What about the other residents in Pleasanton you don’t respect. Those who may have a different political view from yours, those not of a “1st century biblically defined New Testament Christian” faith, or those like the families in Fremont you said were “scary” because “they have the power to breed and reproduce”, or “worse”, as you said, “vote”? Web Link Web Link

It seems you also no longer want to “inspire” Pleasanton voters since that line is gone as well, but perhaps that’s because you’re now trying to “Frazzle and Dazzle” the Chamber of Commerce into an endorsement of your candidacy by showing your support for all things business. You used the terms “business” or “businesses” in almost every paragraph – 8 times in all on just your “about” page. I guess you’d better hope that no one from our Muslim community, or someone you consider morally bankrupt, or one of those “scary” people that “have the power to breed and reproduce” has a vote on a CofC endorsement.

Mr. Watson, while I am fascinated by the evolution of your campaign website as you continually spin it to change your image, we in Pleasanton still don’t know where you stand on the issues specific to our community.

So, one more time I ask: What is your opinion on the removal of the housing cap? Where do you stand on the Oak Grove issue? Who are you endorsing in the Mayoral and Council races? Where do you stand on a school Parcel Tax? Are you endorsing anyone in the School Board election? What would you do to re-energize our downtown? Are you in favor of building out similar to Dublin’s east side? Where do you stand on the proposed BART routes going east towards Livermore that affect Pleasanton? How much have you received in campaign financing from the Tri-Valley Patriots, the Pleasanton Tea Party and the Alameda County Republican Party, organizations that are endorsing your campaign? What other organizations or special interests have funded your campaign?

I will continue to look for your responses, in this thread as well as in Lillian's thread, "Who is Fred Watson and why is he running for City Council?".

Ps. Can’t wait to see how you spin yourself on the next revision of your campaign website!!

His Words:

Reggie:

What I/m going to say may sound cruel, none the less as a former officer you know the facts all to well what has and is going on in the homes of America today. A reality most people would not believe.

I’m also a former Northern California P.D. Officer. When I used to leave a family dispute or some other related matter and the officers had their aftermath huddle, I would tell the guys two things.

I would tell them you know what’s scary about this family? ... They have the power to breed and reproduce. They would all laugh. A scary thought as you well know.

I would then say you know what’s worse? They would say what could be worse. I said they can vote. The guys didn’t get it.

Before I got into the political scene, I could see the writing on the wall so to speak.

We fight against the ignorant, misinformed and gullible voter. The politicians count on this and us forgetting their mistakes every four years. It unfortunately works all to well.

Mr. Watson,

We are a community of diversity and tolerance. We have Indian, Asian, Hispanic, African American and other ethnic BUSINESS owners, doctors, dentists, cooks, teachers and SCHOOL CHILDREN.

YOU WROTE IN A BLOG RESPONCE THE FOLLOWING:

You are CLEARLY NOT making reference in your statement to Middle Eastern family's when you say you were a former Police Officer and were a responding POLICE officer, as that would be a community with the LEAST amount of domestic problems, but rather Hispanics and I have a hunch more specifically African Americans.

THANK GOD YOU DON'T REPRESENT ANY COMMUNMITY AS A POLICE OFFICER AND YOU WON'T BE REPRESENTING PLEASANTON IN ANY CAPACITY, GUARANTEED!!

We are NOT a community of bigotry and hate, intolerance and ignorance!

To those who SUPPORT Mr. Watson,

Pleasanton Tea Party endorses Fred Watson. Heavily involved with the fringe radical movement that represents a tiny fraction of Pleasanton radicals. His Web page on Resist.net is a branch off a bigger fringe radical organization. Grassfire.org.

We DON'T need someone with this radical agenda representing us and working towards turning Pleasanton into Tea Party ville!

"Resisting is just the first step. That is why we propose a three-phased recovery for conservatives: Resist, Rebuild, and Restore. We believe that resisting will create newfound unity among conservatives. Out of this, we must then Rebuild our structures. New, invigorating models must be developed that inform, equip and bring together conservatives and prepare us to return our ideas to political prominence. The Internet will be a key battleground The Left has moved far ahead in its embrace of and usage of new 2.0 technologies. The Rebuild process will leave Americans with a clear ideological and practical choice between the Left’s statist model and our model based on God-given individual liberties.

Having rebuilt, we can then Restore conservative ideas to leadership by winning elections. Ultimately, a movement’s ideas must result in electoral victories because that is the basis for legitimate authority and ultimately for implementing one’s ideas. Grassfire.org will soon be announcing a breakthrough effort that will allow our members to get engaged directly in the election process. Stay tuned.

Resist. Rebuild. Restore. It’s not an easy path for grassroots conservatives, but it is a clear path. We know what we must do. And it begins with resisting rightly — respecting the new President but never backing away from the God-given ideals of freedom and liberty upon which this nation was founded."

I agree Stacy!

Being that Pleasanton has a large radical conservative base that stands willing to back anyone that even remotely subscribes to their ideals, WE need to get his message of hate and intolerance out in PUBLIC and make clear to the public that this guy is a fringe radical and bigot and that he is not in our communities best interest.

This forum has a SMALL readership base as related to the 67,000 voters in Pleasanton.

I think it is imparative that we band together and organize flyer's and signs and start getting the truth about this man out in the community. Farmers market is the ideal forum going into election time.

Well, well, well . . .

Mr. Watson, at least I know you're still reading the forum, even if you won't respond to any questions regarding your candidacy.

Was the baggage of your candid commentary that reflected your contempt for Pleasanton, its residents, our Muslim community, and "scary" voters, too much to carry? We sure didn't have to wait long for your latest attempt to whitewash your image.

Imagine my surprise when I accessed the "resistnet.com" weblinks that . . . until recently . . . linked to your original comments and instead got the message: "Reply Deleted - This reply has been deleted." You've been busy!

So, are we now to pretend now that you never said any of the comments that had, until the last day or so, been documented on your favorite websites? Will you now deny that you ever made those comments? Or, will you just lie by omission???

You state on the "home" page of your campaign website that ACCOUNTABILITY, TRANSPARENCY, RESPONSIBILITY are the "three words that describe my approach to government and public service." Web Link

I have to tell you that so far, Mr. Watson, you certainly have *not* taken ACCOUNTABILITY or RESPONSIBILITY for the commentary that told the voters of Pleasanton exactly what you thought of us, nor, have you shown one iota of TRANSPARENCY in your campaign about who you really are, who is endorsing you, and who, or what groups are funding your campaign.

And we're the ones who are morally bankrupt???

Disgusted,
I'm glad to hear that . . . because every single one of the 'Web Links' I had embedded in my posts that linked to Mr. Watson's original commentary on "resistnet.com" are now coming up with the "Reply Deleted - This reply has been deleted" error message. On both threads. Web Link

I think we have a clear picture of, as Mr. Watson says on his campaign website, his "approach to government and public service." Combine that with his candid comments of disgust for Pleasanton, our Muslim community, and any voter he views with contempt, including those who do not lean his way politically, we can see where he generally stands regarding Pleasanton.

Unfortunately, what we continue *not* to have from Mr. Watson are his specific positions on Pleasanton issues, as well as his campaign financing. So I’ll ask the questions I've been asking since Mr. Watson announced his candidacy (with the exception of Staples Ranch since he missed the boat for comments on that one).

Mr. Watson,
What is your opinion on the removal of the housing cap? Where do you stand on the Oak Grove issue? Are you endorsing anyone in the Mayoral and Council races? Where do you stand on a school Parcel Tax? Are you endorsing anyone in the School Board election? What would you do to re-energize our downtown? Are you in favor of building out similar to Dublin’s east side? Where do you stand on the proposed BART routes going east towards Livermore that affect Pleasanton? How much have you received in campaign financing from the Tri-Valley Patriots, the Pleasanton Tea Party and the Alameda County Republican Party, organizations that, according to your campaign website, are endorsing your campaign? What other organizations or special interests have funded your campaign?
