Or, how about the PW probing McNerney on this and reporting this to the readers?
We'd like to know your opinion here, Mr. McNerney and your opinion should be broadly communicated!

I wonder if Obama and Jerry would be ok if the Aryan Brotherhood wanted to open up a church right next door the the hotel Martin Luther King was assasinated in? I bet he would say it is insensitive.
I hate to sound smug, but I think it's blatantly obvious where McNerney stands on the issue. He's a progressive, which means he just LOVES the idea of terrorists building a, ahem, "cultural center" next to hallowed ground. All I can say is, "BYE BYE McNernery. November is right around the corner, you obtuse jerk".
Sorry guys, I hate to say it, but politicians have it right in this case. Politically / legally this should be allowed - its not like this is the first or only Muslim center nearby either.
I'm more concerned about christian leaders who rape kids. I have NO OBJECTION to a mosque being built.
I think the TeaBaggers and those who just love to HATE any politician, other than a Republican, should just pipe down, take a chill pill and lay off the "herb." Write your Congressman and ask him what he thinks, instead of spewing off your hatefulness for all to see and tolerate. Deal with this: There are more registered Democrats in this district and you need to heed that. All the yelling and street corner antics won't change that fact. I support the Congressman -- many do. We just don't making fools of ourselves on the street corners.
To the above comment by "McNernery supporter",
You talk about Republicans needing to take a chill pill and spewing hatefulness, yet what do you say in the first sentence of your comments? You call the Tea Party Patriots, 'Tea Baggers'. What a double-standard you have. Ever heard of the pot calling the kettle black? And after all this time, you can't claim ignorance on knowing the definition of "tea bagging" by now. It would be like saying, "I didn't known that the "n" word was offensive!".
I take GREAT offense at being a Tea Party member, and being referred to as a "tea bagger".
Furthmore, I am sick and tired of you liberals preaching all of this "tolerance" BS and calling ANY opinion that opposite of yours, "hate". I *know* what the definition of liberal tolerance means, because I've dealt with you folks to have learned better by now. To you, "tolerance" means that we must agree with your opinion. If we don't agree with YOUR opinion, then we are not tolerant and we are "haters". Conservatives are SO onto you guys now (and it's about time). We know your tricks, your twisting of words, and modus operandi. We are a Representative Republic, and in November, McNernery will be OUT of here!
Is the "tea bagger" reference supposed to be offensive? I really don't see it as an "insult" as if it means what I remember it meaning (dragging one's testicles across another person's eyes) then it's not really a very good insult, as it carries a dominant position with it - it would be more offensive to be the tea-bagee than the tea-bager.
I don't know.
Joe - You know by now that this is the response that "McNerney supporter" wants to get. Trying to change the argument, divert and distort, divert and distort. That is the tactic.
They have to take this tactic because McNerney cannot walk in to a townhall meeting (if he would ever have one) and say, yeah, that hope and change, it is going just swimmingly! And what do y'all think of health care?
One crazy thing is, Democrats are running from him on this. And the crazier thing is, the libertarians among the TEA Party pretty much have to admit that, strictly speaking, the President is correct. When we go down the road of restricting where one religion is going to build a church, well, forget the slippery slope, we are way past that.

In my personal opinion it is insensitive to seek to place a mosque at that location. Either insensitive, or purposeful.
Either way, Mr Obama's MAJOR misstep was to comment on this at all.
1. We need to be clear that this is PRIVATE PROPERTY, and NOT the Ground Zero site. Check out a map.
2. Comparing faithful Muslims who follow the Koran to the terrorists is like comparing Christians to the "Christian-based" KKK.
3. This is a local issue. Why in the world should anyone outside NYC get involved?
There are more democrats registered in this area - period. How about them apples? I know that Fox News keeps you misinformed and you don't wish to KNOW the facts. No amount of yelling and theatrics on the street corners will change that statistic. I suggest those Tea [Party members] lay off the "herb" and stop the theatrics Tea [Party members] have branded themselves to be. You're just a bunch of rebels shopping for any cause and shouting on the rooftops or street corners hoping others will take you seriously. Essentially, you're just media whores looking for a photo op and staging one to occur. The GOP's new acronym should be: Greedy Ornery Pissants. Just because many of us don't subscribe to your coded bigotry on Obama, hatefulness towards McNerney while making public spectacles of yourselves within the country attempting to drown out your opposition, does not make you the majority. You're the minority in this district, the state and country. There are MORE democrats registered to vote and your country men identify with the Democratic party. Take them apples, and chomp or choke on that. Ha Ha
