Original post made by Amy, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Jul 5, 2010

This is a 10 minute video that is provides a helpful summary of the Declaration of Independence.

After you've seen this, you'll be more informed than the majority of the American population.

Nice informative video, but what's this "Biblical Worldview Training" organization? I suggest that citizens read the document themselves rather than digesting soundbites by an organization that has an agenda. The creators of the video want viewers to take away their interpretation, but readers should formulate their own interpretation and study contemporaneous interpretations.

Thanks Stacy for the link... a little more reliable source.

But, I do agree with Amy that we are more informed than the general American public. 9% of those interviewed during a poll thought we rebelled from China, Japan, France, and more, rather than from the British.

dublinmike,

Yea, we, as a country, are pretty woefully ignorant of our founding documents. The National Constitution Center has a poll you could check out. Web Link

Cholo, do you know if Amy is from Oakland? And, if she is, what does it matter? She can be from Timbuktu for all it matters, in this case.

The point that Stacy and I were making (please correct me Stacy if I you disagree) is that Amy (and others) rely on right wing websites and blogs thereby limiting themselves to a narrow bandwidth.

Yea, sort of. Amy is free to limit her worldview as she sees fit. I'm more interested in passing on better sources from which readers can come to their own conclusions than just digesting what has been packaged up for them. It may take longer to read the actual Declaration of Independence and understand it and the environment it was written in than watching a 10 minute video with soundbites, but the reward is greater.
