An open letter from actor Jon Voight to President Obama:
(Published in Washington Times, June 22, 2010 Web Link )

June 22, 2010

President Obama:

You will be the first American president that lied to the Jewish people, and the American people as well, when you said that you would defend Israel, the only Democratic state in the Middle East, against all their enemies. You have done just the opposite. You have propagandized Israel, until they look like they are everyone's enemy — and it has resonated throughout the world. You are putting Israel in harm's way, and you have promoted anti-Semitism throughout the world.

You have brought this to a people who have given the world the Ten Commandments and most laws we live by today. The Jewish people have given the world our greatest scientists and philosophers, and the cures for many diseases, and now you play a very dangerous game so you can look like a true martyr to what you see and say are the underdogs. But the underdogs you defend are murderers and criminals who want Israel eradicated.

You have brought to Arizona a civil war, once again defending the criminals and illegals, creating a meltdown for good, loyal, law-abiding citizens. Your destruction of this country may never be remedied, and we may never recover. I pray to God you stop, and I hope the people in this great country realize your agenda is not for the betterment of mankind, but for the betterment of your politics.

With heartfelt and deep concern for America and Israel,

Jon Voight

What civil war are you talking about?

It makes good sense to support the victims of traffickers, what's the problem with that?

Why is it that conservative “celebrities” are always washed-up or on the downside of their career? Who cares what this old blowhard actor has to say. I thought you conservatives hated Hollywood.I find it laughable that racist conservatives are all of the sudden the “friends of Israel” when it serves their purpose, like bashing Muslims. Nice try!

My favorite celebrity is Clive Owen because he is cute. I also like American Idol. I watch Tosh 2.0 but he uses bad words. I think John Trovolta is cute, but I think Conan Obrian is funny.

Note: 2012 IS AROUND THE CORNER!

There has been increasing tension between the US and Israel.

It boils down to this: making it appear as if Israel is holding up peace talks; a thrust by the US government to divide Jerusalem; a policy of pushing Israel to give up the West Bank and the Jordan Valley; trying to convince Israel to dismantle defensive nuclear weapons.

It is the Palestinians that will not negotiate.
It makes no sense to dismantle defensive nuclear weapons when you're surrounded by genocidal neighbors.

American Jews are taking a serious look at supporting President Obama with their money and their votes.

The game of Politics is very confusing. Shifts happen quickly. I don't believe that President Obama has lost the support of the American Jewish vote. Time will tell.

Voight is an alarmist but keep in mind that the elections are just around the corner. And, just because he supports the annual telethon from LA does not mean that he speaks for ALL American Jews.

Correction: Jon Voight does not speak for even 1 American Jew.

He is shabbat goy...his job is to turn off the refrigerator light on Friday if somebody forgets. That's all...he's a nobody, a bum, to me he looks like a shaggy dog...

I support Israel but I cannot support this "letter" from John Voight. And, adding "You have brought to Arizona a civil war" in the same letter is strange.

I think he has gone the way of Charlton Heston, an actor I admired but go so wrapped up with his legend too.

who cares---washed up celebrities with politicals agendas? You mean like Jane Fonda, Alec Baldwin, Rosie O'Donnell, Jon Stewart, Babs Streisand...........and many more. Pretty weak attempt at a generalization, though....you could've just said you don't agree with the letter or just stake your claim as an anti-Semite.
