Opportunities bring responsibilities, say this year's grads

Original post made on Jun 13, 2010

They stand on the bridge, with one foot in Pleasanton and the other poised to step into the future. College and careers await some of the 2010 graduates; others will likely head off to work or into military service. Some may roam the world, while others stay close to the comforts of family and home.

I don't know a lot of the kids at Amador, but I can say that the Class of 2010 is one of the finest senior classes to graduate from Foothill. I am really going to miss the seniors we had at Foothill this year--overall, a GREAT bunch of kids and many of them are going to go on to do great things.

As teachers, we work for the moment when our birds can fly from the nest, but it's hard to let them go.

Congratulations to the parents, the teachers, and most of all the students at both Amador and Foothill, who kept trying their best even in these difficult times. Pleasanton parents do a good job making sure that their kids come to school ready to learn, and the kids and teachers take it from there.

Excelsior!

My 2.5 children graduated from Amador (lol) ... it was a great high school in every sense of the word. My oldest is going to University of Arizona graduating in Business & Philosophy and will be going to law school and joining the Marines. My second is graduating from the same school as a computer engineer and mathematics major (working his way through school programming solar refrigeration for a local company). My youngest is staying close to home, but is intelligent with a great head on her shoulders. You know I owe most it to Amador High School and its great teachers and environment. If the students graduating this year are any indication of the past greatness of the school, then you have a great life in front of you ... Go Amador Dons!

I am a Mom of a 2009 graduate and soon to be 2011 graduate. I had the opportunity to work Grad Night at Club Sport. I was so impressed by how polite each and everyone of the kids were. They said "please, thank you, thanks for working, this is amazing, Wow, we are having so much fun," etc...
If you have never worked a Grad Night, please consider it. I will be happy to volunteer for years to come. It is an amazing experience. I can't remember when I was able to stay awake from 10pm - 4am, it was so easy.

It's hard to imagine that PUSD schools can produce any IV League type of students. Most of the kids in my neighborhood are either not going to college or moving onto one of those crappy state U. Nevertheless, congrats to all the grads.

Hey HaHa - Your comment is one of the more hateful that I've seen in these forums for a while. You must really have some issues needing to be worked out. I'm sitting here trying to decide whether or not you're serious: you mention "IV League". Are you trying to be clever in some overly subtle way, or are you so poorly educated that you don't realize it is "Ivy League"?

Where did you go to school?

Congrats especially to the girls from Horizon High for taking on such extra responsibility and, rather than giving up when faced with a challenge, prospering to fulfill any/all obligations that they have accepted by keeping their precious children. You should all be extremely proud of yourself and remember that your age doesn't determine what kind of parent you are, your love and dedication does.
