Pastas.....ick :(

Original post made by Janie, Charter Oaks, on May 28, 2010

We ate at Pasta's in downtown last night - giving it a second chance after the slow service we received about a month ago. Well, nothing's changed. It took us almost 45 minutes to have our dinners served last night and my husband ordered the Veal Parmesan which was nothing but three flat pieces (of the same exact shape) from a frozen box. My meatballs on my spaghetti were also from a frozen box which is not acceptable when you are eating out. It also took us almost a half hour to receive our final check (as we saw the server going to several different tables). Needless to say we are never going back.

Unfortunately the downtown restaurants aren't that appealing anymore. I prefer to go to Danville even if they are more expensive...The people who own these restaurants should pay even more attention to their service, food selection etc since not many people eat out as much and would be willing to spend money on something they can buy at the store and heat up in their microwave.

The other disaster is the Japanese restaurant next to where the Maholo use to be. It is the worst service on Main. I sat there with two people in the restaurant (not two table, two people, I went through two tall beers and never received my order. I agree with Eating Out. Go to Danville.

What's good in Danville?

I have never really cared for Pasta's. I feel it is overpriced for what you get. However, we love eating at Fontina and Cafe Main. I always have good food and service at Fontina. I also really like the food at Cafe Main, very fresh and nice people work there. Eating out is a personal preference, but before you give up on Pleasanton's downtown, give these a try!!

I had the worst ravioli of my life at Gay Nineties pizza. I could've picked up frozen ravioli at Safeway and it would have been far superior. To sit down, wait for a waitress and then wait around for the check to eat something that tasteless was almost comical.

I have always had great food at Oasis Grill. I am not assoc. with the restaurant at all, it is just good food. They are friendly and the service was very good.

I love Fontinas - great prices and good, consistent food. Pastas is disgusting. I don't blame you for not wanting to go back. These owners need to understand that we will not tolerate being ripped off.

Restaurants can get away with frozen foods because not too many people cook anymore. And by cooking I mean from scratch, not reheating something from a box or a can.

Therefore, most people do not know the difference in taste between fresh and processed foods anymore.

There are very few restaurants I go to anymore. The idea of paying 10 times or more for something I can make at home better from scratch keeps me away from these places. But unfortunately they have a market, so the trend will likely continue.

Most restaurants now a days should be called fast food joints because they do not really cook from scratch anymore...it is pre prepared and out of the box etc. so sad.. I would pay twice as much for a place that can really tell me they cook everything from scratch....hint.. when a place says you cant substitute something or have something taken out of a specific dish you nkow its not made from scratch...

Who in the jolly hell goes to Gay 90's and orders ravioli?

Gay 90s has great pizza!! Love it. And really good salads. My kids are now 20-somethings and live in nearby towns so we meet there quite a lot because it fits their budgets and the pizza and salads are really good. I haven't tried the ravioli - not sure I would think of ordering ravioli there.

I agree with people around here not appreciating good food. Unless you cook often with fresh ingredients, that dinner you had at Pastas is probably "gourmet" for most. I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience. I had something similar like that at Pasta's about a month ago and I will never go back as well. Us foodies need to stick together and not tolerate sub-par dishes! Pleasanton, WAKE UP! There's more to life than frozen food.
