Sal- Slime balls? I think you mean real business men with real experience and not career worthless politicians. Harmer is a hard working family man who wants to help stop the march toward socialism our country is taking. I would wager to say he would actually show up to town hall meetings…unlike McNerney who crawled under a rock last summer.

Don’t believe the smears, Harmer is a San Ramon resident, he lives about a mile up the road from the 11th CD, and his business and kids school take him in to CD-11 every day.

David Harmer will be the best representative for the area and for all of CD-11. He has proven conservative cred and he will fight Pelosi and the progressives agenda in DC.

There is no clearer choice in any US House race in this nation this year. Harmer is literally a parody the typical Republican. It’s almost like he is robot that came off the assembly line at the GOP factory. He has almost no unique views that different from the typical right-wing platform and merely regurgitates Fox News talking points. On top that, he is a career politician (ran for office in Utah in 1996) who is simply shopping for a new district to impose his right-wing agenda.

You also gotta love Harmer’s fixation on Ronald Reagan. He mentions him so much you would think he wears Reagan pajamas.

Mr. Harmer also thought it was a valid point when he accused Garamendi, his opponent in the 2009 CD10 runoff race, of being “a career politician in search of a place to serve” because Garamendi didn’t live in the 10th District. Now, Mr. Harmer’s own words aptly apply to his own candidacy in CD11. Is it still a “smear” when the words are the candidate’s own?

I say that’s exactly why we cannot afford to elect a politician to represent CD11 who has absolutely no vested interest in our District. Not only does he not live in CD11, but there is nothing on his campaign website about CD11 at the local level. In addition, Mr. Harmer’s financing so far, as reported by the Federal Election Commission reflects that he is funded almost entirely by out-of-state and out-of-district politicians, PACs, lobbyists and individuals. Rep. McNerney lives in Pleasanton, so even if our gerrymandered district is re-drawn and we’re lucky enough to, at least, have a whole Pleasanton if not the Tri-Valley as our CD, he has a vested interest in our continued well-being geographically. I don’t know about you, but I certainly didn’t feel represented by Mr. Pombo who made it very clear that his interest, investments, and representation was east of the Altamont.

As far as how Rep. McNerney’s campaign was funded, a comparison of individuals, committees, PACs and lobbyists between his campaign and Mr. Harmer’s current funding shows an abundance of funding from those individuals who actually lived and worked in our district, as well as from businesses that have a presence here like Roche/Genentech and Oracle in Pleasanton, Calpine in Dublin, and AT&T and Chevron in San Ramon. By his own words or lack thereof, if we elect Mr. Harmer we will have a politician who settled on CD11 in his “search of a place to serve”, is not invested in CD11 giving us *no* real local representation at the national level, and says being an American is second to his faith putting in question his ability to separate church from state in decisions that affect all of us.

I’d rather have someone representing me from outside the District, who lives in San Ramon, than someone inside the District who lives in the Central Valley.

You seem to feel that Rep McNerney should be representing only “the majority Republican district population of CD-11” during his tenure in Congress. Thank goodness he has taken it on to represent the interests of CD11 as a whole! For example, as a member of the “House Committee on Energy and Commerce” and the “House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs”, committees that definitely impact CD11, Rep. McNerney has sponsored the following bills:

HR4015 – Family Farm & Small Business Tax Relief Act – To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to extend certain estate tax provisions and restore and increase the estate tax deduction for certain family-owned business interests.

HR700 – Healthy Communities Water Supply Act – To amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to extend the pilot program for alternative water source projects.

HR1546 – Caring for Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury Act – To amend title 38, United States Code, to direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish the Committee on Care of Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury.

From what you posted previously in this thread “jimf01”, Mr. Harmer evidently feels the policies laid out by Wisconsin Rep. Ryan are what we should be looking forward to in CD11. Let me see, Wisconsin . . . CD11 . . . Wisconsin . . . CD11. Nope, I’ll stick with someone who will represent CD11 locally at the national level, rather than vote for someone whose plan for CD11 is limited in scope by the Wisconsin/RNC/Tea Party “Roadmap for America”.
