While I would hesitate to stand up for the TSA, you should consider the fact that this man apparently got on the plane with nothing that would have set off the alarms. It seems that he planned to combine ingredients, as the shoe bomber did, to produce an explosion, which did not work. The only way to stop the insanity of worrying about what is carried on is to stop allowing people to carry on anything. In this age of entitlement that will never happen. It is nearly impossible to limit the carried baggage to what is legally allowed and reasonable to take onboard. Have you watched people on planes these days? There is little, if any, common courtesy. It is a mad scramble to push and shove people aside to place over sized bags throughout the plane. People allow their kids to run in the aisles and scream endlessly during the flight. Grown men threaten to become violent when they do not get their choice of meals. Now these same people want cell phones to be allowed for use in flight. Right! Flight attendants have already been turned into virtual cops, how much worse will it be when cell screamers annoy everyone around them? How easy might it be to coordinate an inflight attack if all of the attackers were able to communicate on the plane via cell phone? That one should get your blood boiling. Mine is.

Sorry "take it easy". I totally disagree. My point is that the suspect's father had informed the U.S. government and it was probably ignored. I am quite worried about how the new administration is taking these threats. We seems to be more tolerate to them by appeasing them. So, I cannot take it easy.

I am a safety fanatic and it makes me mad to see a lot of people are too carefree. We here in America take freedom for granted and once we lose it, it will take a lot more bloodshed to get it back.

Some congressional investigation would be needed to make sure no government agency or agencies didn't overlook these clues. This is what us as citizens of this country would expect from our government. So, where is the cry for investigation?

You know, right, that it's a Republican senator (Jim DeMint of South Carolina) who has been blocking Obama's nominee to head the Transportation Security Administration? DeMint has complained that Democrats are trying to rush a vote on the nominee (former FBI agent and police detective Erroll Southers) without adequate debate, and has placed a hold on the nomination. DeMint's big concern (as he stated on "The Early Show") is that Southers would let TSA screeners join a labor union.

Let me see . . . union . . . timely TSA leadership. Nope, no comparison! The threat of a TSA union definitely outweighs having someone in place to address safety threats!
