The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.3 struck this morning in Danville.
According to the USGS, the earthquake struck shortly after 6 a.m. and had a depth of 4.4 miles.
The quake was centered one mile north-northeast of central Danville and 10 miles south-southeast of Concord, according to the USGS.
This area seems to have had an above normal amount of small quakes recently. I wonder if these are considered “cluster quakes” which I believe sometimes occur before a larger event. If anyone has info on the recent quakes, if the are abnormal, or what they could be suggesting please let me know.
