A California Highway Patrol helicopter crew assisted yesterday in the rescue of a dirt biker who fell off his vehicle on a steep dirt trail in the Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area southeast of Livermore, according to the CHP.
The helicopter crew was requested by the Alameda County Fire Department at about 3:25 p.m. for a rescue at the park.
The helicopter arrived at the park at about 3:50 p.m. Fire crews had repelled down the steep hill and placed the male victim on a backboard, according to the CHP.
An officer in the helicopter crew was dropped off to repel down the hill and assist the fire crew as they got the victim ready for transport.
The victim was then lifted to the aircraft and taken to John Muir Medical Center, according to the CHP.
CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said he did not know the victim’s condition or if his injuries were believed to be life threatening.
