I am not a Christian or Islamic extremist. However, if I pass by a Christian group demonstrating I am not in fear of my life. Christian's do not believe in getting into "heaven" by killing others and Islamic extremists do. Thus comes the suicide bombings. Of course the poor people in the mall were afraid.
This Islamic extremist was only in this country for a few months, yet he sees fit to behave this way! When is our government going to start protecting us by keeping people like this outside our boarders!
Americans tolerate way too much from foreigners. I believe more Americans need to travel to a foreign country where our behaviors are expected to fall in line with that particular country. I have experienced this numerous times and in numerous countries. Why do Americans not demand the same respect!!!

"Why do Americans not demand the same respect!!!" Because America is in the grip of PC-Political Correctness and it is a joke beyond all logical human understanding. The Fort Hood massacre would never have happened if not for PC.

give it a rest...he has a right to plead his case without hate from the extreme right...let the US justice system do its work without comments from the peanut gallery...incidentally, personal computers had nothing to do with what hamid did...got it?

Why was this jihadist-wannabe let out on bail? How is he any less of a threat than the Fort Hood terrorist?
Why is Lt. Elerick making excuses for this guy? "The big differences, however, is that Hamid was on private property and had physical contact with someone."....wrong; the big difference is that Hamid apparently subscribes to an ideology that espouses the murder of non-believers.
Hopefully his family and all their connections are being checked out as well. This ridiculous sensitivity to people's feelings is going to result in more terrorist attacks from bozos like Abdul Hamid and Nidal Hasan.

Uh-oh; two different Joes living downtown but at least we seem to have similar thoughts. I'll be "Joseph" from here on.

Terrorists are sent here to work on their own plan. Have we forgotten so soon. They are suppose to establish themselves can create the own attack...alone or in SMALL numbers. He never thought he'd have to go shoot against his own.
First he went out and BOUGHT the gun to do the job...it had a LASER...he was serious. It was about killing others, NOT himself.

Nan - Don't you think anybody would assume they would be killed trying something like, especially on a military base? Maybe not by his own hand but I think we were all shocked to hear he was still alive.

"he has the right to plead his case without hate"... that is just the problem. Any Joe Blow that steps off a plane into this country has the right to have my tax dollars defend him or her in our court system???
I say nooooo. Constitutional rights do not apply to those who show up for a "visit" and break our laws. Put them back on a plane and send them back to their own country. Its better than locking them up and throwing away the key, which is what would happen to an American in the reverse circumstances.
Court hearings? In case you haven't heard, the U.S. is a little strapped for cash.
You are exactly right Joe, America is becoming rediculously PC. It isn't logical at all.

Is there anybody who has ever posted or commented here that "cholo" has not attacked personally ? I don't think so. He, she, or they always attack the messenger and never the message, and constantly try to hijack the post and lead the topic in another direction. I think "cholo" might be a drinker or a group of high school students? At any rate anything with a "cholo" tag will now be ignored by STUPID ME.

True Joe but he thrives on negative attention like most unloved people that drift aimlessly through life. He loves that I'm typing this, but I just wanted to say I agree with Joe. Could anybody else not understand what I said in my first post? I promiss to never again dignify a responce from him or even read a post authored by anyone using the screen name cholo.

He could have gotten allittle more sympathy if he changed his little chant to "Allah is Love" but the religion hasn't evolved to that point yet.

Just another example, as was the Ft. Hood terrorist massacre, that the PC insanity that has engulfed this country is very dangerous indeed. It's really time to wake up and address this problem before the Jihadists nuke one of our cities. Its also time for the "good Muslims" to quit giving their silent support and refuge to the Jihadists.

What about PC caused this mall disturbance and prosecution of the man? Do you mean that hiring a Muslim is being overly PC? Should Muslims be barred from employment? Should we ask people what religion they are before hiring and make that grounds for not employing them? Should we just assume middle eastern decent = Muslim? Since India has one of the largest Muslim populations we need to watch all them too? Mall guy = Fort Hood guy is not just a huge leap it insults what happened to the victims of Fort Hood by saying it's like a dumb kid yelling in a mall after breaking someones necklace with a pen that bothered and scared people. Star of David, Cross whatever it was it was jewlry not several lives. I'd be willing to sacrafice all my possesions to get those soldiers lives back including my bibles and crosses. as I hope all of you would.

I have to wonder why this story continues to get so much attention here in Ptown. I agree with tyu that "Mall Guy" does not equal "Fort Hood Guy", but that message seems lost on a number of those posting here. Get some perspective, people. This case is insignificant in the scope of things.

What if people don't own a Bible or a cross? duh...
Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail. The Department of Homeland Security is capable of investigating the Ft. Hood massacre without all the assistance from the known PC hotheads.
A few of you need to cool your jets and accept that it's up to the folks with calmer minds to investigate.
Any references to dumb kids, stars, broken necklaces are violent fantasies and serve no purpose other than as a cry for help! Please, just calm down and try to get along with the rest of us. thank you...

Thanks Kay. Do you think bigotry, fear, religious diffrences, and hate might be bubbling to the surface because of this? Do you think if the guy would have ripped off someones necklace that wasn't a cross but instead a symbol of Taoism their would be the same outcry? Do you think if the same thing happened but a Christian ripped a (fill in the blank) off someone and started yelling the lyrics to "Our god is an awesome god" their would be the same anger? I grew up here and know all the bigotry that lies burried in this town until their is an excuse to express it. This guy seems to peoples scape goat for 9-11, Fort Hood, etc.

When the Department of Homeland Security completes its investigation we will all have a better understanding of the facts. It serves no purpose to speculate unless of course, it's a cry for help.
Be patient my friends, the truth will be revealed. I am happy that the killer survived because he will be questioned for years and more and more details will trickle out.
When the economy is bad, there is a tendency to scapegoat, an increase in anti-semitism and rampant racism.
For those with no patience and you can't live and you can't die, make coffee (or tea)!

Makes me think of a fear I had instilled in me as a child many many years ago....."THE RUSSIANS WERE GOING TO GET US FROM WITHIN". I was told that was their mantra back then. If you think this with logic, makes a lot of sense.....and I believe it's working.....but not regarding the Russians....or is it?

My main objection in all of this is the comment by Lt. Elrick. The reporter never mentioned whether or not Mr. Hamid was a Muslim, yet Elrick felt it neccesary to compare him to the "Christian Activist" exercising their constitutional right to assemble. If that isn't PC, I don't know what is. I'm ashamed of the Pleasanton police department. If a Christian had done the same thing in Saudi Arabia, what do you think would happen. And who is footing the bill for his psych evaluation at John George. Look at the way this has been handled and you realize how Ft. Hood was allowed to happen. Maybe Obama can phone Hamids family and apologize for America having all these Christians. PS. I'm not Christian or even religious--just sick and tired of PC running are lives. Community of CHARACTER. I don't think so anymore.

"Christian had done the same thing in Saudi Arabia" Do you want the U.S. as Saudi Arabia?
"this has been handled and you realize how Ft. Hood was allowed to happen" Another comparison to Ft. Hood, sick.
Bringing Obama into this as if he his relevant to this in anyway? What has the Community done wrong in this case, or his behavior the reflection on you and everyone in the community?

Oh , I see, he was yelling out anti - Christian comments and his hand just happened to slip down and tear off someone's crucifix?
And he was holding a pen in his fist over his head, then gently put his hand on a man's shoulder?
And the men who flew the planes into the World Trade Center, they thought they were on a ride in Disneyland.
I hope the courts are notifying the U.S. Justice Department. This is a Domestic Terrorist Attack.
I will not label all Muslims this way.
But here is a red flag folks. With our blood all over it.
By the way "40-year resident" shouting "Islam is great" does make you a muslim.

I agree with Lisa.... Remember September 11th.... These people will attack again, and they will continue attacking until they have completely bombed everyone whom are not muslim...traitors and terrioists should be sent to back to their own country. Not all Muslims are evil, but any suspicion should be taken seriously.[Portion removed due to disrespectful comment or offensive language]

Have been watching WWII in high def this week. It dawned on me that our grandfathers' fought and many died in this war to avoid facist or Nazi oppression. The ideas behind America, the freedom, the ideals that were inked in the bill of rights, required struggle and time to actualize. Call it PC, call it what you want, I call it freedom of expression as outlined in the bill of rights. There is a need for tolerance, it makes America a better place, a place to be proud of! The Nazis were not tolerant!
Those saying that an accussed foreigner should not have due process of law or also out of line. It is due process and the free press that keep our government from being our oppressors.
The Taliban does not have due process or a free press.
In a insideous way, our victory over those oppressive movements becomes their victory when we emulate thier behavior to achieve our goals. We become them, which is their intent!
When we look at the wars across the world blamed on religion, a closer look almost always points to underlying economics. Land, food, resources, power or money. It was the main driver for the Cristian crusades against the Muslims, the Protestant (Nazi) movement against the Jews etc.. and it is the main driver the Muslim extremism comming out of the middle east where a strong middle class does not exist. Build the middle class and the incident of terrorism will decrease dramatically.
Don't hate!
