Ponderosa breaks ground on 55-plus Ironwood community

Ponderosa Homes broke ground Tuesday on a new 110-unit gated senior home community in the Ironwood neighborhood off of Valley Avenue and Busch Road--the first new home development in Pleasanton this year.

From $1.4M to $1.6M, this over 55 year old is priced out.

I may have the wrong Ponderosa home web site listed above.

I think the over 55 age development is called the Village at Ironwood. Not sure what that will cost out at. I think it is actually where you buy in at quite a hefty sum...but then are guaranteed a home and meals and services for life?

Maybe someone else will know better.

I've been looking for something for my mom so she can be close to me but have her independence that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.... I'm hoping that HUD will be a part of this new development as well. How do we get on a waiting list for this new development?

In response to the comments above, The Village at Ironwood will be an active adult community for those 55+, there will be 4 floorplans, ranging in size from approximately 1900 - 2700 sq. ft. Pricing is expected to start in the low 700's, although this information is preliminary at this time and subject to change due to ever changing market conditions. This will be a gated community of 110 single family, detached homes. Rick, the houses you mentioned earlier are the new Ponderosa homes in the Mohr/Martin Area on Mohr Avenue selling in the $1.4M range. They are also in Ironwood, but are different from the Village which are the 55+ homes. The other senior development mentioned with the "buy in" for meals and services for life is the planned Stoneridge Creek retirement community on Stoneridge Drive. Stoneridge Creek has a sales office I believe on Stoneridge Drive near Hacienda.
