Terrorists winning in Pleasanton

Original post made by Patriot, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Aug 29, 2009

On September the eleventh, 2001, the worst terrorist attack in the history of mankind was inflicted on our proud United States of America. The terrorists goal was to destroy our country by frightening us and making us pull back within our shells. The right response to them is to not let them make us live in fear. Let's continue to believe in the strong American economy. Let's keep buying homes, taking out mortgages, and keep going to those malls we have around here. We need to let the terrorist know that we won't live in fear. Americans believe in home-ownership more than any other country in the world. Home-ownership levels will go right on up if we don't give in to fears.

Unfortunately, a number of Pleasanton voters (a minority) choose to vote against a very important community issue. Measure G. Measure G was a way to say no to the terrorists. It was a was to say that we believe in our community and we're willing to pay for the best. Just like we continue to go to the malls and continue to buy homes. Sadly, a small number of Pleasantonians gave in to the terrorists.

Soon we will have another chance to stand up and be counted among those who believe in freedom. Vote yes and say you believe in freedom and America.

So let me get this straight. People who voted no on G, are the same as terrorists because us 'No' people want to destroy PUSD, we want all the 'Yes' people to live in fear, and basically want our future citizens (the children) to be dumb and live off the government?

"Americans believe in home-ownership more than any other country in the world. Home-ownership levels will go right on up if we don't give in to fears." So basically you're saying for residents to pay towards a parcel tax and buy a home even though he/she may make $29,000 a year? Or better yet, have people that were laid off and living off their savings pay for a parcel tax and a new home.

Let's try to keep in civil here and stick to the facts. The evil doers want to divide our community and turn us against each other. Let's not let them win.

PToWN94566,

I'm only asking those who can afford it to do what they can. By continuing to live like we always did we are saying we will not live in fear. I didn't say everyone.

The budget of PUSD is $120,000,000 so i suggest they start cutting there first before anything else.

I didn't say people who voted against Measure G were terrorists.

Jaun, let's work together to support our schools. If we start pulling in to ourselves, stop growing our economy, and start living in fear, then we'll be doing exactly what Osama Bin Laden wants. Giving to the schools and supporting a parcel tax is a way to say no to the people who want to do us harm.

Patriot,

you are welcome to give all of your money to the teachers for raises if you choose and I am free not to and that is what makes this country great. Freedom.

Juan,

Yes, the country is still free and we can for the most part do as we choose, but the choices we make have consequences. Like I said on another thread, if you have suggestions for an improved parcel tax proposal please state them.

Let's work together, lets do this as a community. Lets keep our economy growing, and keep improving our system of education. If you have suggestions on how to improve outcomes of our schools, lets hear them. We can do this.
