Old story, this has been discussed. Yes people hate it, yes they are trying to get you angry and to respond, no there is very little someone (including police) can do, no they don't know what they are talking about. They film and put it on you tube. You might be an internet sensation already and not know it! Wild West days we ride them out on a rail. Today we just take it in fear of being sued or even jailed. Online they post where they will be yelling so you can avoid them if you want to. I know not fair. I don't know the website off the top of my head but someone on the forum does. I think Cholo has it.

It is CryToGod.com
And if you happen to pass by with your kids, they too shall be on the internet video's for all to see, all over the world.
Confront them, and you just may be on some sort of Christian Radical HIT list of sorts?

Very sad comments! These people are doing gods work in the purest form.
More Christians should be spreading the word of God and Christ. Time is limited and YOU MUST REPENT your SINS!
You have NO choice, or you will go to Hell.

To Patty and Jane - The "Loving People" this display on saturday morning was anything but loving....They don't have a clue as to who has been through what (including me) in their lives, who has given their hearts to Christ (including me), who helps other people (including me) and when I tried to confront the woman that said "your God is crap" she would not turn to look at me.....This is not spreading love......

Who's more reasonable the people out yelling on the street to get attention or the ones replying and giving them attention? Unless I planed on placing a fist in their face I wouldn't approach them. I like my freedom so I don't do that and I allow their freedom to scream anything. I would recomend pointing and laughing if you want to give them attention or join them in yelling at people on the street mockingly. Best advice is to ignore though.

These judgemental hypocrites don't know the meaning of either love
or God's tolerance ! Patty, this Grandma won't be doing any repenting to anybody. Nobody in America has the right to spread
the word to anybody who DOES..NOT..WANT..TO..HEAR..! We not
only have the right of freedom of religion, we also have the right
of freedom...FROM..religion !! The NOISE from these judgemental hypocrites is "DISTURBING .. MY .. PEACE " !
These people do not understand the meaning of God's LOVE...they are
too judgemental to carry his message. Judge not lest ye be judged!

I don't believe that the street preachers are harming anybody. How has anybody been harmed? It's not like they're speeding around hitting pedestrians or kids while under the influence!
So many posters on the blog pretend constantly to be holier than thou and say stuff life bless you, Jesus love you, etc. I find that offensive. All the psychological violence that gets posted about various minority status groups is not very nice, but it still gets posted.
Lighten up mes petites, your version of Christianity is not cool with the street preachers but they still haven't harmed you or anybody else. I say live and let live! VIVA STREET PREACHERS! VIVA! It seems to me that alot of you FAKE CHRISTIANS are not for real and finally your number has been called.

We're free to ignore or listen to whoever we want to. Thank goodness that is the case in this country. If you want them to go away~~ ignore them. They're looking for a reaction-- that gives them energy and hope. I know it's easier said than done, but ignore them and they will move on.

Thank GOD these folks only come once in a while!
They are very angry and aggressive. Their rant is NOT fit for children, let alone adults. I have seen these people single out people eating on the patio and insinuate that these people are gay, love their money, worship false gods and are going to hell.
It is quite shocking for little kids to see their parents verbally assaulted out of the blue.
Pleasanton SHOUL do EXACTLY what they talked about last year. That is to DESIGNATE a FREE SPEECH area. This is LEGAL and can be anywhere, to include where people do NOT gather.

Are you serious? That is what we have become as a nation and a community??? Dan, what if you have a negative comment about the mayor, should you be arrested if it is "outside" the "free speech area"?
Your defense is that it is legal, that is only because our rights are being taken away everyday. Is freedom of speech really a freedom if you can only do it in certain spots? How about only on Tuesday between 2am and 3am? When do we stop?

The street preachers go all over the US. They seem to be having a good time. Clearly they love to point a finger and holler sometimes. Like I say, I don't enjoy lots of what I read on this blog but some of it I ignore. Problem solved...take the HIGH ROAD!
Yup...besides, you could go swimming, knit, get your hair styled, tell people Jesus love you, have a double bacon cheese at you know where! or just meditate on the beauty around you.
Are my tips cool or what? I hand out tips from time to time. It is after all, about FREE SPEECH! I do try to be a good role model.

Dan you are a hater you hate anything or anyone that doesn't agree with you. How sad for you. This is what you have become. In the name of diversity you have attempted to steal others rights to freedom of speech... Your version of tolerance and freedom of speech is NOT what was fought for in the 60's. Your version of freedom of speech and tolerance is that it's fine for anyone to say and do what they want, so long as it's not disagreeing with what YOU believe or what YOU want to hear...

Freedom of Speech does not mean....IN MY FACE....Nor does it give
ANYBODY the right to..INITIATE.. a ..VERBAL ASSULT ON ME !! Somebody BEING ASSULTED should ask for their card or personal info then take them to small claims court and collect $7,000, when they don't show. THey do have a right to stand ON a street corner, they do NOT have a right to INITIATE a verbal assult IN your face, out of the blue.....to the corner ! Get a water gun.....in their face...it'll slow them down for sure.

Second, let us honor their freedom of religion.
Third, we can ignore them and go on to enjoy all the beauty of Pleasanton!
Let us each choose to worship, or not, in our own personal way, and be uplifting to others.

1760s, no he really did mean the 60s, starting with the HUAC protests in San Francisco in 1960 and as in 1964 with the Free Speech Movmement in Berkeley, and later on in the 60s with the Stop the War movement. (Vietnam not Irag/Afghanistan!)

Listen,
When your sitting with young children and some guy comes right up to you screaming in your face about homosexuals etc. and going to Hell, that’s NOT cool at all.
I ALMOST punched the jerk out. When I FINALLY was able to get one of the other preachers to talk to me, he said that my god was a false prophet. I asked how he knew anything about ME or MY GOD! He replied that Jesus spoke to him and told him I was going to Hell.
People like this need to really examine their motives and actions.
Finally, I spoke with the man that got in my face. It did get a bit heated and he said “if you touch me, I will have you arrested”. I GENTLY put my hand on his shoulder” while continuing to speak to this guy. He had their cameras crew close in to video me and started yelling about me being the devil and that I would be arrested and burn in Hell. I am a Born Again Christian!
The Police came and interviewed several people who saw the man get right up in my face while we were eating our food. The Police TOLD this guy that if I had felt threatened and “defended” myself, there was NOTHING they would have done, based upon what witnesses said happened.
Their actions are way beyond free speech and more a provocation and verbal assaults in a threatening manner.
I will tell you as a Christian Man, these particular street preachers are PATHETIC!

"Me Too"...I always thought that was Voltaire but apparently it's a woman named Beatrice Hall in the early 1900's speaking in reference to Voltaire's general attitude. Still relevant nonetheless.

This whole discussion sparked my interest in whether the hateful nature of this demonstrtion was a violation of the constitutional right of free speech. I guess that would be open to interpretation, but in simple terms the right to freedom of speech is subject to limitations such as 'hate speech'. I would interpret some of the actions of the demonstrators as clearly hateful.
Here is the official definition of Freedom of Speech under the First Ammendment of the Constitution.
"Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship or limitation. The synonymous term freedom of expression is sometimes used to indicate not only freedom of verbal speech but any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. Freedom of speech and freedom of expression are closely related to, yet distinct from, the concept of freedom of thought. In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on "hate speech".
The right to freedom of speech is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). The ICCPR recognizes the right to freedom of speech as "the right to hold opinions without interference. Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression". Furthermore freedom of speech is recognized in European, inter-American and African regional human rights law"

Right to free speech..absolutely! I have close relatives that are in the military defending these idiots right to speech.. What happened to "disturbing the peace"? Are these people disturbing the peace? Absolutely! Certainly when I take a stroll down to the farmers market and sit on the corner and have a coffee enjoying the day in my town, I have the right as well to not hear to a bunch of people screaming at each other. Where are our finest police officers? These people could care less about religion. They want media coverage and they are getting it. There are too many other things in the world going on right now...people losing houses, jobs, insurance and these people have nothing better to do but to create havic.. get a life!

I was downtown Saturday morning, at the Farmer's market, and I had an incident with them. I called the police, and already knew that this is freedom of speech. The dispatcher said someone else had reported them, and the police were on there way. I think this whole
thing stinks, they should not be allowed to get away with this. They should be escorted
out of town for good.

A guy coming out of a bar is arrested for drunk AND DISORDERLY. Disturbing the peace can be beautiful music coming from a neighbor at 6:30 AM . A theater owner would take a patron by the arm & escort out of the theater if they in mid-level conversation tone, said all the things these people said....they would be ""CAUSING A
DISTURBANCE "". Loud PIPES disturbing my curb side dinner would be
DISTURBING the PEACE. These people are DISTURBING the PEACE and it should NOT be tolerated. If it is NOT SUITABLE to the setting, they should be DETAINED....IF they bus in, excort them back to their bus & all wave bye-bye...or whatever you want to wave. They have the right to Freedom(s), they also have a right to seek mental help, they also have a right to be chewed out as Bible Abusers, they also have a right to be told by all of our Pleasanton chaplains that their attempted actions are beyond disgraceful, and they have a right to be ignored, treated indifferently.
Is it any wonder why we are so cynical about religion in general?
I believe the Lord is No. 1, but also respect the existence of David, Buddha, Allah, etc, as their positives in the lives of billions far outweigh their negatives. I also believe that most church-related people are good people. But every time any of us try to improve the public perception of religion as a whole, someone else or group always sticks out like bad weeds and produces hateful words or actions. Right now, whenever we need to critically address our health and education, there is always someone who isn't really debating but is only interested in starting or perpetuating a cultural war. Sadly, too many of these people have the big money and media resources to continue this most divisive tactic at our societal expense. We have to embolden ourselves as a community to stand up to this menacing stain and expose them for what they really are, shameless disgraceful insults to mamkind. We must prove we prefer to have people who want to solve problems, innovate, and create a closer-knit community, team, and in some cases, family.
Until we find a way to weed out these poisonous vines, we - here, County, State, Nation, World - will remain stuck in a recessionary rut, both financially and socially. The screamers that distracted what is usually a beautiful day at the Farmers Market are among these poisonous vines, regardless of their free speech rights. Let's hold these knuckleheaded people like them more accountable for their abusive words and actions. Stand up for a more peaceful way of debating, agreeing, and disagreeing from both sides of the aisle.
Thank you, Chris, for bringing up this often overlooked issue.

Oh, and more problem-solving, less hype-fests. Why have attention-grabbing? Why not just have composed creativity from any facet of life from religion to health to education to environment to consensus building? Pity the fools who prefer confrontation instead of communication and commemoration. Who needs them? (Yeah, I know, too many do, but do they deserve attention? Nope.)

Where do they park their vehicles? Why are the vehicles still in running order when it is time for them to crawl back under the rocks they call home?
Free speech does not include offensive shouting around kids, or adults for that matter. These people are "disturbing the peace" and "attempting to incite a riot". Get some balls PD and get them out of our faces.

Exactly.
It seems that they drive all over Gods Creation to these events to PREACH, but they shout that we are all sinning because WE worship our vehicles!
They go to a LOT of concerts, so I can only assume that in their view, going to concerts is a sin. BUT, THEY are AT the same concert!
These fools have something to say about our cars, our motorcycles, our music, our restraints AS WELL as OUR GOD.
It’s ALL wrong to THEM, because Jesus “speaks to them” as cited by those that have TRIED to talk to them, including Christians!
They are a MENACE to civil society and belong on an Island.

All you have to do is review this blog re: people are always in your face! Also, if you check out what's happenings at Town Hall meetings nationwide, you will observer many citizens screaming and acting crazy as if somebody is harming them.
The preachers may shout out but that is what the BIBLE tells them to do. The preachers are not obliged to conform to your distortions re: FREE SPEECH. I always find it truly interesting, especially on the topics about the (loud) street preachers, how many posters, who profess Christian values, think that resorting to angry confrontation, or even violence, is an appropriate response to this situation. Some examples, just from this thread:
"God", who notes that "Jesus is rolling in his grave" (and here I'd always heard that he'd risen . . .) says that street preachers should be "stined in the town center", or as "UG" pointed out and agreed with, "God" really meant "stoned". Maybe I misunderstood this one; maybe it's weed, not rocks they want to throw at the street preachers.
"Karen" states that the street preachers are "hypocrites (that) don't know the meaning of either love or God's tolerance." She further states that "These people do not understand the meaning of God's LOVE...they are too judgemental to carry his message. Judge not lest ye be judged." Hmmmmmm, I'm feeling a lot of "judgement" and not much "tolerance" or "love" from Karen.
"Dan" says Pleasanton should "DESIGNATE a FREE SPEECH area" to segregate the street preachers. "Cher" says they "should be escorted out of town for good". "Exactly!" thinks they "belong on an Island". Who/what's next? Today street preachers, tomorrow . . . everyone who disagrees with them politically, like say on health care reform? Oh wait, that's already been suggested.
"Bev", while shouting (netspeak) about being verbally assaulted, recommends to "Get a water gun.....in their face...it'll slow them down for sure." Unless you’re a cop, I'm wondering why would a gun, in any form, be an appropriate response to someone shouting on a street corner?
"Jarhead", who doesn’t "condone violence", says that we should "pick the biggest one and beat the "devil" out of them." That’s because he’d have no choice if someone "verbally assault(ed)" him. Let me think . . . words . . . fists . . . Oh I know, how about walk away? There’s a choice for you.
"My Experience" says his first inclination was that he "ALMOST punched the jerk out". Instead, he confronted the street preacher and "GENTLY" put his hand on the other's shoulder during a "heated" confrontation. But "ME" is a "Christian Man" and finds "these particular street preachers are PATHETIC", saying that they need to "examine their motives and actions". Myself, I question any parent's "motives and actions" who, when encountering "verbal assaults in a threatening manner", does not immediately remove himself and his YOUNG CHILDREN from the situation, thus protecting his children as well as defusing the situation.
Unless you're looking for a fight or trying to escalate the situation, there is absolutely no reason to get into a confrontation with these people, no matter how loud they are. Remember the children's rhyme "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but WORDS CAN NEVER HURT ME"?
As adults, we can control these situations as well as our actions. We need to be the example we want our children to follow. If you feel physically threatened, remove yourself, and your children, from the situation and call 911. Otherwise, smile and move on. Or don't smile, just move on.

Mohr Rae, Apparently you accept living in an UNCIVIL environment, otherwise I can think of ...NO REASON for parents to remove themselves from a table setting with their children in a peaceful, beautiful, tranquil family setting because a mob of RUDE, OBNOXIOUS, THREATENING INTRUDERS, who intrude, invade, and INITIATE a VERBAL ASSULT. WHY would THEY be the ones to leave. The police should remove the assulting invaders. The key word...... INITIATE !!
IF you would read CORRECTLY you would see I said they SHOULD BE ON a street corner...that's where they DO belong...NOT intruding on families sitting peacefully !!!!
You twist meaning that Dan & Cher might disagree politically and might want them remnoved because of disagreement. NO, they should be removed for DISTURBING the PEACE in an UNcivil manner....it was verbal assult not loud music.
Get a grip and find some sense of DECENCY.

Rae!
"I always find it truly interesting, especially on the topics about the (loud) street preachers, how many posters, who profess Christian values, think that resorting to angry confrontation, or even violence, is an appropriate response to this situation."
I read the first sentence and almost puked! MANY people who profess to be born again Christians have been found guilty in the court of Law for:
Child Abuse
Molestation
Rape
Child Rape
Internet Porn
Travel for the purpose of have sex with minors
Spousal Abuse
Drug Trafficking
Manslaughter
Fraud
AND the list goes on!
Professing to be Christian means NOTHING, as MAN continues to sin and commit crimes every waking second.
Really though, MOST people will commit whole hardily to GOD and Jesus when they are in Prison, facing a Parole Board hearing!!!
This is NOT at all to say that there are not a TON of Good and Morally Centered People, both Christian and NON Christian.
I laugh when I hear people say “oh but so and so is a Christian” so they are honest and I can trust them etc.

NOT one citizen has been harmed by the Street Preachers. NOT ONE!
The Constitution protects FREE SPEECH, not just those that are Holier Than Thou!
The are NOT PREACHING HATE!
In care some of you christies have forgotten, the BIBLE asks that believers SHOUT OUT!
There is a very long history of violence by Christians.
Instead of violence, have you considered the Power of Prayer?
If anything, the nasty Christians on this thread are of the BEAST!!!
Incidentally, they also have a right to congregate and own guns!
go in peace...

I agree. I wish the town or the local merchants could do something about it. I had family in town and we experienced the same thing. It's pretty embarassing.

Though the world join hand in hand God will still judge the world in
righteousness. Jesus said that my people perish for lack of knowledge
Jesus said woe to you that call good evil and evil good.
It matters not what people think i don't come out to please the people of pleasanton i come to serve the Lord with fear and trembling. If everyone was happy with what i said then i would worry
Jesus said woe to you when all men speak well of you.
We come to pleasanton to tell our neighbors the truth about God's love . God says says if you love me you will follow my command's
you will worship in spirit and in truth you will put away your idols.
Today is the day of salvation if you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and beleive in your heart that God the father has raised him from the dead you will be saved.
God is waiting with his hand streched out for antone that would confess and forsake their sins to give them everlasting life
we care about all the people that we preach to we don't want anyone to parish but all to come to repentance.
Do not harden your hearts Pleasanton.

He is not a fool, far from it! Clearly the DEVIL RULES in Pleasanton. Just today their was an Amber Alert! As for some CHRISTIANS who think that they can control FREE SPEECH, take a spin.
Steve has a right to SHOUT OUT...he is only doing what the BIBLE asks of him.

It should be obvious that this is not a group sanctioned by any religious organization since their words and their actions, against our children as well, establish childish negative posturing and selfish need to include making every event a publishable Media moment on only their behalf. None of this could ever produce the sum of any truth, responsible religious undertaking, or mature meaning for anyone. We flame their misguided fire by even recognizing their existence. If you look into their personal backgrounds which is being done we will all soon and clearly find a truth about each of them that once revealed for public need and safety will quickly dismiss this sad misdirected need for attention.

I talked to the young black man that was standing at the edge of the crowd and he was very polite and we spoke for several minutes. However I thought what a shame that the screaming man with the large sign was giving religion and God a bad name by shouting at people and possibly scaring the young children. I wish to think of God as a kind and loving God and I don't believe these people were swaying anyone but instead of turning people to God they were turning people away from God. What a opportunity they missed by being annoying when they could have done some real good by being caring and compassionate.

Sometimes I wonder what happens to all logic in people. Anyway Kevin Farrer, the ring leader of this misguided "Religious Group" IS NOT a preacher of any professional elk nor type but in fact a ROOFER from Freemont. He has a most interesting background (not that good) and I think if anyone were to simply ask them, and Kevin as a poor example of any leader, to leave us all alone because he can not possibly become credible and thus represents nothing we need from him, then all his past work would not need to become future folly on YOU Tube. Truth is not media attention, truth is positive encouragement and wholesome respect for each other on this planet. We are not judged by anyone on earth. Kevin-please go home, take you weak followers with you, leave our families and children alone, become a deeper thinker on your own time and grow up.

Ran across the "people preaching" downtown at the Farmer's Market this moring. They are not preaching anything....they are YELLING. I believe in freedom of speach but it doesn't say anything about yelling. It frightened the heck out of me and my 5 year old granddaughter. Do it fine but we have a choice of being able to sit and enjoy the morning without having some radical YELLING. What happened to my freedom.

Bikers and smokers are not preachers!! Common courtesy for your neighbor is lacking in all these folks activitites. If you ride, don't be a jerk on the throttle. If you smoke step away from the folks eating, doorways and despose of the butt! If you are preaching - well then keep it down so people who want peace and quite can have that too. I don't see a "group" of bikers reving the throttle for 1/2 to 1 hour at a time, or do I see a "group" of smokers puffing in the face of diners for up to an hour. SO, I think the preachers have an agenda, hummm
BTW, I suspect the preachers are exceeding the 70 dBA - I have a meter and will test. AND the Pleasanton PD does enforce noise ordinance on loud car stereo's and loud pipes on bikes!

The Cry for God group and their out of work lead Roofer from Freemont, Kevin Ferrer has a list of citations and court proceedings against him already. This should preclude him (Ban if you must) not from disturbing our peace but more importantly from inciting hatred, a crime that the FBI would love to dive into. My belief is , as soon as we dive into this NON-preacher, non-religion affiliated person, who is more self centered attention grasping, because he lost his roofing company by starting brawls with union people. He lost everything he worked for and everyone left him. Now alone, he seeks attention the only way he knows how, by media attention in hopes of a payoff he can not achieve otherwise because of his previous bad behavior. He reaches and falsely preaches for salvation by inciting the hatred he harbors inside of him. What a sad man. He needs a daddy.
