Mc Nerney you big fraidy-cat sissy boy you! Ha ha ha! Can't take a little well earned criticism from a group of angry, fed up, middle aged/class white folk? Dude, you have so lost my respect. I thought you actually had a spine at some time but apparently this is what Washington does to people.
See you (NOT) in 2010 Jerry baby!

I signed up to be on the call. They were supposed to call to link you in to the conference call. I was at my desk, and hence the phone, 15 minutes before the all began. The phone didn't ring until 7 minutes after the start time and what I received was a PRE-RECORDED message from Congressman McNerney saying he was sorry I was not available when they called to connect me in. I have since talked to some friends that were also wanting to be in on the call. Guess what - those that are registered Democrats and independents were connected in. Those that are registered Republicans or not register to vote did not get in. Since one had to give his/her name, address, phone number and e-mail address to sign-up for the call, it appears that they compared the sign-ups with the voter registration logs (that can all easily be done by computer) and excluded anyone they didn't want on the call. Much like Obama's recent kangaroo townhall or his kangaroo press conferences.
Isn't that just great in a supposed democratic society?
Congressman McNerney is a wimp, and a Pelosi pimp. Supposedly it was Pelosi's cohort in crime (and a coauthor of the ObamaCare legislation) George Miller that drempt up the whole town hall by phone scheme. These guys are evil, Queen Pelosi is evil, and the Obama Administration is evil.
People had better wake up, and wake up quickly, becuase this current government is taking your freedoms away with breakneck speed. We need to get them out of office before we become a socialist republic or a dictatorship.

He's a coward and afraid to meet with anyone who disagrees with him. He just does not have the answers so he hides. It will not matter, he will be re elected. One can only wonder how bad the economy will have to get before people start figuring out that our government is the problem not the solution. As they say, the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money. That is where Ca is, and our country is about to follow thanks to Reps like Mcnerney. The only irony is that the supporters are now starting to feel the pain. As the government runs out of money, they are losing their jobs and benefits.

If what you say has merit, there should be no surprise about your comments. Our goverment has a way to brain-wash good people and to confuse the true meaning of how to build a Republic and give the people representation.
Jerry like 80% of most politicians get over-whelmed by the strength of the system and either join the club or quit.
The 20% of quality representations hang in there, but to no evail.
It's tuff to critisize someone trying, but thier actions are not going to change things for a long time. The only stand we have is to be consistent on our demands and say NO, NO, NO with our votes until the system changes. The goverment system is set up only to protect us from foreign/domestic attack ( which is a good thing) not set up to make our lives more comfortable. We need to take the intitiative to provide for ourselves and pull together with our resources when it makes sense. Do not use the goverment system, it will cost triple and will never deliver the quality we expect. Just say NO, especiall to TAXES.

Our phone rang and we were connected mid-way through the meeting. Questions were screened in advance, no way to know if all were presented. Whether you are for or against this health care reform, I respect the representatives that have the courage to meet the public face to face and present their views and listen to the views of the people the represent. Some hide behind the skirts of a phone town hall.
Sad to say, McNerney is a coward!

Make the incumbent Jerry McNerney an "outcumbent" in the next election. If he doesn't have the courage and integrity to stand before those he was elected to represent, how can we expect him to have a spine when representing us in Washington, D.C. I'm sure he had a nice dinner and sip of wine following his sedated townhall sham. Shame on you Jerry. You have failed in your responsibility to represent all the people in your district.

Evil,
I am an elderly woman and I am so concerned for myself, my children, and especially for my grandchildren. Everything I see coming out of the current government in Washington is lies. They deny one thing after another. For instance, they denied that there were death panels in the healthcare reform, and now they say they'll take that provision out. So, they were caught up in a lie. One of many. Its just one lie after another. Some of the 40 czars he has appointed actually are actually Communists, some have track records filled with fraudulent activities, and none of them have been elected or had to have Senate confirmation.
You are right. This current government is evil, and I am very afraid. This United States that was the envy of the world is in grave danger.

McNerney, you are such a wiener. You are simply a stooge filling a seat and take your marching orders from Nancy Pelosie and George Miller. Even the clown Pete Stark had the guts to have town hall meetings. If he were still alive, Bosco the canine Mayor could run against you in 2010 and win. Heck, I may run against you. I'm not qualified, but that obviously doesn't matter.

Reply to Sally:
You should be concerned, Sally. Unfortunate that we have to be concerned over this, but the more we concerned citizens speak out and write/email/call our representatives the more they will know how wrong their direction is!
I passed an opinion in an earlier post that my disagreement with the healthcare reform initiative lies in the process by which the enacted law becomes implemented actions. The proposed reform is intentionally vague, as are many laws passed by our legislators. These vague outlines are then passed down to bureaucratic committees who "interpret" the intent of the law and create regulations that you and I have to abide by. For the Senate to pull back on the issue of end-of-life couseling says it all. They know darn well that some lower-level, non-elected, invisible bureaucrat could implement regulations that poorly interpreted the intent of what they passed. How many times have you heard in recent months the term "unintended consequences" used to describe the outcome of government programs (and this applies to both Republican and Democratic administrations). Stay firm in your opposition, and remain informed on the topics. Good for you.

As Obama has said, this is going to happen whether we like or not. The number of citizens who support his reform decline almost everyday with more people disapproving than approving. Web Link
Of course who really knows what the reform is suppose to be as there are currently 3 different proposals with a 4th one reportedly on its way.
Our elected officials are upset that the public is now actually expecting them to read the bills and know what's in them. (I think it would be a good idea for there to be a test about the bill prior to the vote and if you do not receive a 90% or higher, you can not vote on the bill.)

Surprisingly I got a call from the "honorable" Mr. McNerney Wednesday night to listen/"participate" in a tele-townhall "meeting". Me, an overfed, short haired, Republican! Well, the meeting was well underway by the time I plugged in. Nothing missed-- same old spiel that "the government is here to help" blather. Then the calls came in-- some positive others not so much...
Take away from the "exchange"/experience? We shouldn't fear a thing. Everything is going to be alright. It will pay for itself. If you like what you have, keep it. Sleep tight, you little malleable voters. We arrogant, know what is good for you, politicians will take care of everything just like the other plans that are "working". Never a mention of the impending crash of Medicare (sooner) or Social Security (later).
If anyone believed the script read Wednesday, I have a bridge between San Francisco and Marin that I can sell you for a good price... While it would have been definitely a "different" discussion were the good Congressman to meet with constituents face to face, that takes apparently more courage than our elected rep has. Remember this at the re-election polls next year. In the mean time rest easy, everything will be OK.

Who are you people? It is just the uninformed telling the uninformed what is going on. You present no facts, details or (more importantly) issues other than fear and hate.
Are you afraid because we have a black man for president? If you don't like your elected officials then run yourself and change it.
More importantly stick to the facts and the issues. Calling politicians names doesn't help.

While I agree with comments that McNerney should have held a town hall meeting in person, I also have to agree with a previous poster: Who the heck are you people?
This whole "socialist government takeover" conspiracy theory is so ridiculous I would think it was a joke if I didn't know people who seriously believed it to be true. Where are you getting this information from? I think I can hazard a guess... Let me think, it starts with an F...
Both sides have reasonable concerns and arguments, but if you don't have evidence to back up your claims then stfu.

Dear "Who Are You People?"
We are a bunch of PO'ed citizens. We are PO'ed at the current government in Washington that is trying to turn this country in to a socialist or communist nation. You don't have to pour through reams of data and articles to reach that conclusion, you just have to have a modicum of intelligence.
Specificaly, on the topic of this post, we are PO'ed at our congressman that doesn't have the guts or the desire to face his consituents. By constituents, I mean everyday Americans, not the Nazi mobs stirred up by Fox News that Pelosi insinuates. Some of those "Nazis" she was accusing are veterans that have put their lives on the line defending this country. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Nancy Pelosi comes closer to a being a Nazi than anyone I know of in this country. Anyone with a lick of sense would want Pelosi and Obama run out of town immediately. Our democratic government and freedom are at stake.
It doesn't have anything to do with Obama being "Black" at all. Since Kenyan records show that his father is 1/4 Negro and 3/4 Arab, Obama is likely 1/8 Negro, 3/8 Arab, and 1/2 Caucasian, so even the part about him being the first black President is probably a lie. If he would only be forthright on his heritage, prove that he is a natural U. S. citizen, and release his college transcripts we might know those answers. It DOES have a lot to due with Obama's EXTREME left-wing views; his deceipt about his past and what he intends for our future; and his habitual lying.
Got the picture?

I was extremely disappointed! The first 5 min was an "infomercial" on McNerney. In my opinion this was a cowardly way to approach citizen's concerns and it took "forever" for them to get through one simple question - and then another 3 min infomercial by some woman for McNerney between each question - what a waste of time! I think my time will be well spent trying to get this man out of office!

I was informed of this call ahead of time by someone in political circles. Otherwise I would not have even known about it. There was nothing on the McNerney website regarding the call. In fact, his calendar stated that he was with the Tracy dems at 6:30. That tells me that he did not want anyone to know ahead of time if it could be helped.
I called his office and asked to be on the call the day before. They needed my name, address and phone number - you just knew they would be checking the voting records. Around 6:10 I, too, got the recorded message saying, "Sorry that you are not available, blah, blah, blah," and then the disconnect. I then called both the Pleasanton and Stockton offices and found those lines busy, busy, busy. I suspect that is from where the calls out were being made. I then called the Washington, DC number and was given A TOLL-FREE NUMBER WITH A PIN CODE!!!! So, there was a bridge and ports for whomever HAD been notified ahead of time. I wonder who that might have been?
When I got on the call I immediately punched *3 to get in queue to ask a question. They got to me around 7:40 and what happened was eerily similar to the initial pre-recorded call. They asked what my question was and somehow couldn't hear me speaking. They said, "Hello, hello," and then dropped me from the queue. I know of at least one other person who had the same experience and I suspect there are others. It was obvious that they were not taking any chances with "wild card" questions.
I took note of every question and answer during the call. It was obvious that not only were those allowed to speak pre-screened but that the questions were all scripted. I am suspicious that the McNerney eejits wrote the questions themselves just using the background of the people they hand-picked to read them. People were way too truckling and obeisant for anyone with any intelligence to believe that the "opposition" was represented. What, to some, may have passed as "opposition" was merely regurgitation of opposing viewpoints couched as polite queries by useful tools of the local democrat party.
One participant actually stated that he had recently been hearing sound bites of Obama during the campaign stating that he was in favor of a single-payor system and wanted to know how that jibed with his current claims that those with private plans could keep them. (It was obvious that this was directed at talk radio and FOX). The tone of the question was far too "civil" to have been posed by someone really concerned about the obvious disingenuousness of the position.
Another very "interesting" occurrence was McNerney's recall, late in the session of the name of someone who had asked one of the first questions. His name was Lee. I am in front of people on a regular basis and I can tell you that it is a rare person who remembers the name of someone he can't see AND the issue he raised a half hour earlier. McNerney is not that bright. Just more proof that this call was a put up.
Because I suspected that the call may have been pre-recorded (there were no calls taken from anyone but the pre-determined group) I contacted an official from the group in Tracy where he had been scheduled at 6:30 to see if perhaps he DID appear there. He had not. When I commented about the public having no prior notice of the call I was told this was due to confrontations with the opposition taking place at other town halls across the country. When I asked if, indeed, it wasn't the constitutional right of those people to have their voices heard and if McNerney wasn't doing himself nore harm by appearing to be fearful of the opposition I was told, "Yeah. We need to talk to him about a number of things." Tells me that even the faithful are not pleased with this guy.
I would say that this crowd is running scared for the next election. Those of us who are not happy with having people like McNerney successfully shoved down our throats (because the democrat party throws money at these elections) need to get behind the opposition candidate in 2010. That means doing more than paying lip service to the issue It means digging into your pocket and coming up with a $20 bill - more if you can afford it - walking precincts, making phone calls, getting involved. Remember, we get the kind of government we deserve. And I, for one, someone who IS involved, am tired of getting the kind of government that the disconnected and lazy deserve. Those of us who are engaged can't do it alone. We need EVERYONE out of the wagons pushing and pulling.

(from an earlier post)...
Keep in mind that "Nurse McNerney" has already given her constituents like you and me an "enema" because "Nurse McNerney" believes we "deserve" it ... (unlike herself and the rest of her fellow Congress buddies who specifically voted AGAINST a Republican-sponsored amendment to require Congress to have the same healthcare as they are proposing for us.)
The "enema" I am referring to is the House version of the national healthcare bill. McNerney is one of the members of the Energy and Commerce Committee which voted in favor of the socialist, complete inividual freedom robbing, withdrawal of life support for seniors, bankrupting House healthcare version HR 3200 which now is with the US Senate.
So just like in "OZ"..."NURSE McNERNEY" has spoken!
His (highly staged) telephone conference this evening is just a "checklist item" so that McNerney can indicate that "I have MET with my constituents" on this issue in which I have already voted.

To "Who are you people" - Who are you people? I see a great deal of fact and information posted here. What is posted are the facts about how an elected official is behaving when a goodly portion of his constituency disagrees with him. What is posted are the facts of how what should have been a PUBLIC hearing was conducted. WHat is posted is the anger and frustration of people who are being disregarded, disrespected and taken for granted. And, this is not the first time that McNerney has behaved in less than an honorable manner. Hie previous "town halls" have consisted of him having private conversations with attendees while others who have come to speak to him are forced to stand at a distance and not listen to what is being discussed. I don't believe that this man has ever conducted a true "town hall" where all discussion is open to all in attendance. I would daresay that it is YOU who are uninformed as all you have done is hurl ad hominums at people whom you don't know from Adam. Does it not dawn on you that the main reason people are up and at arms is BECAUSE they have educated themselves on this horrendous piece of legislation that McNerney HIMSELF hasn't read cover-to-cover? When the details were revealed people became enraged, scared and active.
And, please, please, let's not drag racism into this. That is the last gast of a dying liberal. You should get down on your knees and thank God, if you indeed believe in Him, that people like us are taking an interest in this abomination that Congress is trying to ram down our throats. If you are not intelligent enough to understand the ramifications of this legislation perhaps at least your children will appreciate that for which we are putting ourselves on the line.
You need to take the hyperbole out of your rhetoric. There is no room here for words like "hate" or the invocation of racism. You only show your ignorance when you stoop to such depths. You ARE right about one thing. We don't like this particular elected official and will work hard to rid ourselves of him. However, when the party in power has gerrymandered the district to a fare-thee-well in order to retain their stranglehold on the area it makes it pretty difficult to overcome. And, that is precisely why blogs like this are so powerful. The power of the pen was instrumental in moving people to break away from England and has remained thus down through history. You are seeing democracy in action, right here, right now.
Are you afraid because we have a black man for president? If you don't like your elected officials then run yourself and change it.
More importantly stick to the facts and the issues. Calling politicians names doesn't help.

Given the "glowing" performance and of McNerney for his "effective" phone(y) TownHall meeting, I wonder if the Pleasanton Weekly is "proud" of their beloved Congressman they so highly endorsed during the campaign.
To refresh the reader's memory, here is the PW's endorsement (below) of McNerney who everyone should now know is strongly supportive of voting a straight socialist ticket...
- voted for Obamacare which will further bankrupt us, result in rationing of care, and withdrawal of life support for seniors, not to mention separate us all from our freedom (he also voted to retain Congress's separate and superior healthcare program vs. a republican effort to have the same plan as normal citizens)
- he has voted in favor of the (un)Fairness Doctrine which violates our 1st Amendment of Free Speech
- he has voted to further weaken our national defense by withdrawing funding for our troops in Iraq during the surge
- he has voted FOR the largest tax increase in US history...for the economically devastating and job killing Cap and Trade bill
Here is the PW's endorsement again...if you have the stomach to read it...

To Jerry McNerney:
I urge you to consider the obvious: AMERICANS DO NO WANT GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE!!!
You didn’t listen when we told you we didn’t want TARP. You didn’t listen when we told you we didn’t want STIMULUS. HEALTH CARE will be the last strike…and if you support government-run health care, YOU WILL BE OUT!!!
If you don’t start listening to us now, it should be no surprise to you when we VOTE YOU OUT OF OFFICE!!!
Polls show that a majority of Americans don't want what is being pushed upon us and we’re not buying what the President and this out of control Congress is selling.
Stop being part of the problem and start being part of the solution. You’re Pelosi’s stooge and your constituents recognize that. Your telephone “TOWN HALL” really pissed people off, because it became obvious that you’re neither willing nor able to truly represent your constituents when you won’t even take questions or hear opinion from them.
It’s time for you to stand up and be a man. Have an original thought of your own instead of adopting whatever the DNC tells you to think. Do you really think they’re going to help you when you need it most? Don’t kid yourself…they helped you get where you are because you serve a purpose. But they will toss you aside the minute you are no longer useful. And by the looks of it, that may be sooner than you think.

As long as Harry Reed and Nancy Pelosi keeps getting back into office we are going to keep getting the same kind of crap. And McNernie is just a puppet for the regime. Keep the heat on these ultra liberals or we are headed for the biggest socialist country in the history of the world. Mark,
I watched your video and while I found that it presented some interesting viewpoints, I fail to see how it relates to my previous post. Elite =/= Government. If you are so concerned about a dramatic shift in power, isn't it these elites that you should be rallying against, rather than the government?
I had stated that I found the viewpoint that this administration is trying to turn this country Socialist ridiculous. It is the Red Scare all over again, despite the fact that socialism is much too often mistaken for communism, despite the fact that they are not the same.
P.S: Did you get a chance to view the articles on my link?

There should be no surprise that the Pleasanton Weekly endorsed McNerney. Jeb Bing used to be a Chicago newspaper reporter. He was raised in a city that has been controlled for decades by the Chicago Mob and run by crooked left-wing politicians, both elected and not. Al Capone. Mayor Daley. 4/5 of the last governors run out of office for corruption, including Gaboyavich. Mayor Daley II. Reverend Wright. Jesse Jackson. Jesse Jackson II. Dick Durbin. David Axelrod. Rahm Emaneul. Ezikeal Emanual. Barack Obama. Where are Eliot Ness and J. Edgar Hoover when we need them????
Anywho, Jeb is steeped in Chicago left-wing loon politics.
