No Apologies for a “week spineless Resident”

It just confirms what he said in his book and that is that he is a RACIST.

He's a piece of work. There are some that don't think racial equality is enough. They want to punish others to feel superior. Hmm...sounds like racism all over again...this time on the other side.

I appreciated Colin Powel's comments this week. He's right. When a police officer, the professional charged with keeping the peace, arrives armed and ready to defend your property, who yells at him? This professor is himself a racist. To put that police officer down for doing his work is wrong. I'm so proud of Officer Crowley for doing the right thing - had he "let it go" it would have sent a wrong message that if you insult the work of an officer and escalate a situation with anger you can get away with it if the officer is of another race.

You should put the chip on your shoulder away when an officer that was clearly trying to help arrives. Professor Gates has ZERO ground to stand on here. He caused ALL of the problem. And Crowley was the peacemaker in this. Officer Crowley is an example all police officers should look to as an example of excellent work, and professor Gates is someone we should also learn from: What not to do.

Our president is a racist as well. He grew up as a black raised by whites. He has issues with his family and they spill into his work. Sucks to be us that his job is being in charge of our nation's policies.

I heard the black panthers who intimidated voters last fall had their charges dropped. Wonder how that happened. Can't wait for the next election! Way to encourage the behavior Obama.

Looking suspicious and she emphasized that she was not at all sure anything was wrong.

The officer entered Gate’s Home! The officers asked Gate’s for his I.D. Gate’s choose to give the officer crap, which is constitutional right! There was zero legal merit in arresting Gates and the charges were dropped! Although as tacky as cop’s roughing up citizens for no reason, Gate’s saying whatever he feels’s like saying to the Cop, IS LEGAL!

IF I were in the same position, (and I have locked myself out from time to time and went through a window) I would have probably told the officer to FU%$ off, if he were to even have the slightest ATTITUDE in MY home! He walked into Gate’s home and proceeded to throw his authority all over Gates! IF someone were hard of hearing and startled and had turned around and shot the Cop, there would have been ZERO charges! The Cop entered Gate’s home by choice and without invitation. He further arrested Gates INSIDE the home and stated in the report that Gates actions constituted disorderly conduct in public. He arrested and cuffed Gate’s INSIDE HIS OWN home for giving him crap verbally! The charges didn’t stick, because Gates did NOTHING Illegal.

We have ZERO idea of the exact demeanor. Actions, conversation that took place INSIDE Gates Home! Again, I don’t give a dam if some neighbor thought I was breaking into my own. If a cop walked in and played out the typical cop “do as I say” carap, I would have showed my I.D. and told the guy to get the FU%^ out if he had even the slightest of attitude, which 99.999% of cop do!

There is NO LAW against speaking your mind to a police officer and they are trained to TAKE as much crap as they dish out in most cases.
And as far as resisting arrest or disorderly conduct, Gates commited no crime and these Laws apply to public property and DO NOT apply to inside your own homw, without a warrant and after he already showed his I.D.

Crawly abused his power and jumped the gun! The charges were meritless and dropped! Move On Dude!

Crowley has said publicly that the meeting was good, there will be further discussion with Gates and that both sides can learn from this.

Does anyone else think this is too small of an incident for the President of the US to get involved in? He has bigger problems to focus on. The economy, Iran and nuclear weapons plants, Israel and the building dilemma. All of this effects us more than this one incident. President Obama should focus on these larger items!!

I agree that you have a constitutional right to speak your mind in any situation. You also bear the responsibility for acting stupidly, as did Gates, when in a situation similar to this. Why would you have a problem showing an officer your identification in this type of situation, or have a problem following their requests? Read this morning's news about an Albany couple that was pulled over by police in June. Similar situation, based on the report in the paper, where the persons in the car said what they are consititutionally allowed to say...however bad judgement on their part in the situation. They were arrested as a result. Now it is in the courts. Why not follow the president's example and just have a beer at city hall and call it quits? That is the teachable moment from Obama. Not that one should apologize for making a stupid remark for for acting stupidly in a suspicious situation (as did Gates). No chip on my shoulder. I just don't understand why people act that way in suspicious situations and expect to get away with it!?!?!?

Because they CAN get away with is by LAW! The situation in Gates home was in NO WAY suspicious to HIM! It was HIS home. He SHOULD EXPECT to get away with saying ANYTHING he chooses in his own home!

As to Gat'es agenda or character, that's a whole other isssue, based upon life experience, perspective and personal opinion, but it's no LEGAL issue!

The incident in the CAR is a whole other issue, as your in a motor vehicle and on a public roadway!

Just like how cops get away with police brutality and corruption all the time!

In MANY jurisdictions, such as S.J., Oakland, S.F. and Modesto, police corruption is rampant and WELL documented! Racial profiling, excessive force, lying on police reports, planting evidence, cover ups are all common in bigger jurisdictions.

In San Jose for example, cops are really just gangsters with badges! They have been known to sell drugs, protect crime rings, and worse!

I myself have a perfect driving record and have never been in trouble, but I have witnessed police brutality and I don’t condone the demeanor of how most cops act either.

P-Town is a bubble in which some people just do NOT have a grasp on the bigger picture!

He has witnessed severe police brutality and corruption, and racial profiling to a major extent within his community and abroad fro his entire life.

WE have NO idea what the police officers demeanor was in the house, how he approached Gates, what he said etc.

The officer should have left the minute gates showed his I.D. regardless of ANY comments Gates made to him.

So, back to my original assertion that Obama should NOT have commented publicly on something he knew nothing about (the details of the Gates-Crowley incident), and when he realized he had "made an unfortunate choice of words" he should have simply apologized to all involved. That was the "teachable moment" opportunity. Instead, he defered the blame to all of us by calling it a "teachable moment" (like we were the ones who made the comment) and rather than apologize resolved the issue to his satisfaction over a few cheap beers with Biden sitting by to even out the odds. I expect much more from ANY president, whether Republican, Democrat, Liberal, or Conservative.

Whatever! Impeach the guy!

Thank god no other president in history put their foot in their mouth!

America is THE MOST RACIST PLACE EVERRRR!!!!!!!!! This discussion makes me so, so , so angry...not because it's Michael Jackson but because I keep hearing and reading how those children could not be his because they are light skinned!!!!! Black people, African -Americans come in all shades and colors. We have a diverse history because of the slave trade. And last I can recall NO ONE knows what genes will come into a baby! Look at Solange Knowles son. He has blue eyes and blond hair. Neither of his parents are that light. BUT her mother has green eyes and is very fair skinned.

Michael Jackson's father has green/ hazel eyes, Debbie Rowe has blue eyes. Paris's eyes are actually greenish/blue. They are NOT some ice blue color. Also, the kids are not even as light as people keep saying. They look dingy, Michael used to dye their hair AND he used chemical straighteners on their hair.

My grandmother has very light colored eyes and is light skinned with strawberry blond hair..guess what she's BLACK too! Her father was considered Creole. Her mother had jet black hair, almost black eyes and very light skin. Guess what she was Native American and French.

Now my aunts children all have dad's that are EXTREMELY DARK, they are almost purple and my aunt is light, but her children all came out with light eyes and golden hair like my grandmother!!!

And yes, my uncle is the father!

My own children (by the same father, mny husband) all look different. Some are light, some are tan and one has jade green eyes. Their hair texture is even different. The darker ones have really wavy fine hair and the lighter ones have a curly pattern to their hair. The darker ones have bronze colored hair and my lighter children have black hair...I am brown with naturally auburn hair....

You just never know what a child is going to look like ESPECIALLY when you have a parent who is black and the other is of another race/ethnicity.

Have some respect for other races people. It's not just plain black/white in the world!

Just wanted to take this opportunity to talk a little Genetics 101:
1)Genetic traits skip generations.

2)What African-American is not "mixed" somewhere down the line? And who cares unless one has a negative association with just being black and thinks being mixed makes them more "exotic" or "interesting"... how sad.

3)Considering the above 2 thoughts, let's never be so brazen as to think we can say what a person's ethnic/cultural make-up is based on a picture.
My mother is Norwegian, father is African-American and my complexion is like Halle Berry's and I have brown eyes as does my sibling. My husband is African-American with medium complexion and brown eyes - and our son has blue eyes (an example of traits skipping a generation). In order for that to happen the blue eye trait must be on both sides of the family (I am speaking specifically about blue eye color trait only).

But, as the saying goes - "Opinons are like a**holes. Everybody's got one". So, when all is said and done let's not take it so seriously. To write so passionately about whether or not MJ could/did produce these children says a lot about how bored one must be!

I say let's not expect the police to prevent crimes anymore. That way they will never get into a situation where people can "get all up in their face" because they're investigating a situation where they have no idea what to expect.
Let the burglers break in, the police can check it out after the crime occurs. Let the woman be raped, the police can collect the evidence afterwards to try to find out who did it. The police don't need to patrol anymore; We can keep them all in the stationhouse and only send them out after the crime has occured. That way we can also save on gas and help save the environment.
Oh yeah, and this would be right in line with how our President, Attorney General, and Homeland Security Secretary are prosecuting the war on terror, or rather I mean war on "man-caused disasters". Don't prevent it, let the acts occur then try to figure out who did it and "bring them to justice."

Has anyone considered even for a moment that possibly Obama is in way over his head and is winging it? I mean let's face facts. He has never really had a job, ran a company, nor for that matter really even served in congress as most of his time was spent running for president. He speaks well and knows how to get along and be liked but let's look at where we are at. Unemployment continues to rise, no job creation, nationalizing the financial system, nationalizing GM and Chrysler, 787 billion dumped literally in nothing to show for it, potential hyperinflation, job and economy killing cap and trade, a joke of a healthcare reform, heck he cannot even correctly run a 1 billion car rebate program without it coming to a halt. A key point here lost on him is that this is his only program which is working and working quite well...why? because he is basically giving millions a tax break of $4500 and they want to spend it.

Take a look at some of his personal priorities during our time of economy pain with him setting the example. He flies all over the world and US continuing to campaign and burning a tremendous amount of fuel and money, flies for a night out to New York with his wife, throws out the first pitch at the All Star game, sticks his nose in being the campus cop and judge in Cambridge for his good friend, and although not covered by the media he is spending $35,000 a week for his vacation on Martha's Vineyard. He is clearly lost in my mind and this does not even include the current debacles going on in Afghanistan (over 40 americans killed this month alone and more americans killed there in the past 6 months than the previous 2 years and we are being fought to a standstill) , North Korea, Iran,

The only thing he seems to be successful at is giving a teleprompter driven speech and being liked.
