Glenn Beck and the 'Birthers,' equally unhinged

Syndicated talk show host Glenn Beck is clearly a nut, who may be better at using the Rush Limbaugh playbook than the master himself. Take a look at this video during which Beck calls President Obama a racist but uses nothing to back it up.

To say that Obama, a man reared by his white mother and her white family in predominately white or multi-ethnic environs, is a racist, and not give proof of that--- boggles the mind...

But the problem here may not be Beck’s assertion, but the fact that he’s a part of the same angry fringe knot as the "Birthers," who steadfastly deny that Obama was born in this country. They have been causing such a rancid stink lately that the House of Representatives on Tuesday included in a resolution celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood, a statement of the obvious: “The 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, was born in Hawaii.”

There’s nothing Obama can do that would appease any of these people.

Stacey is a registered user.

Beck wants ratings.

Birthers would still refuse to believe Obama is a citizen even if his birth certificate were to bite them in the behind.

Julie,

you always seem so logical and level headed so I cannot understand your comment. Why in the world wouldn't our president release his birth certificat and his college transcripts to the press. Does seem a bit odd don't you think?

Beck is stoking white supremacist anger by insisting that the president hates white people. In other words, he's suggesting that it's okay to dislike President Obama based on racial terms. And because Beck is saying this from a position of authority, it has the flavor of legitimacy -- a permission slip for racists to further entrench in their backwards, antiquated bigotry. This is race-baiting in its purist form.

I could not disagree with you more as I have listened to Beck and he pretty much goes after anyone and does not single out Obama for things Obama does not do. You really need to sit back and evaulate Obama and his friends and it is not about racism but rather choices. William Ayers, Reverand Wright, the Chicago gang, ACORN. etc. do I believe he is a racist? Yes, in a way I actually do.

Since the Tea Bag movement was an epic failure, disenfranchised white people (i.e. Glenn Becks audience) have to move on to the "Birther" stuff. Pretty sad.

Johnny,

How is that white hood fitting on your head?

Greg,

typical liberal response when confronted with facts you must lash out by calling people names as a sign of fighting back rather than using facts.

Shall we also send these nice things to members of Congress and CNN's Lou Dobbs who are all keeping the argument going?

Indeed if this isn't a problem for Obama, why not just release the document? Simple and end of argument.

Something tells me he is either arrogant that he doesn't need to provide the document to the American people or that the sceptics are right. Either way Obama doesn't get a vote of confidence.

Really? 10MM viewers of Glenn Beck are just some random people. I see.

Logic, facts, and sound reasoning never really works with you, does it. I'll stop here for your sake.

Web Link

Funny how these attackers came out of the woodwork when it's now the Democrat in question, but not before...

"Curiously enough, there is no record of McCain's birth in the Panama Canal Zone Health Department's bound birth registers, which are publicly available at the National Archives in College Park. A search of the "Child Born Abroad" records of the U.S. consular service for August 1936 included many U.S. citizens born in the Canal Zone but did not turn up any mention of John McCain."

"According to a State Department manual, U.S. military installations abroad cannot be considered "part of the United States" and "A child born on the premises of such a facility is not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States and does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of birth." Tribe said the manual is an "opinion" with no legal status. "

Really, really -

Your weblink doesn't say anything.

And so your issue is the timing, not that Obama isn't a citizen. I see. Way to go with that logic!
