House Dem’s resolution describing Hawaii as Obama’s birthplace may put GOP birthers ‘in a jam.’

Original post made by Cesar, Country Fair, on Jul 27, 2009

Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-HI) will be introducing a resolution today on the House floor commemorating the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood. However, there’s a catch. The resolution will also describe Hawaii as President Obama’s birthplace, which may “put House GOPers who are flirting with birtherism in a jam”:

“In the language of the resolution, there is a statement that Hawaii is the birthplace of the 44th President of the United States,” Abercrombie spokesman Dave Helfert confirms.

That confronts House GOPers with a choice: They can vote for the measure, and endorse the idea that Obama was born in Hawaii, which could earn the wrath of birthers. Or they can vote against commemorating the 50th state’s joining of our blessed Union. Or GOPers can skip the vote, but that could look nutty.

“Far be it from us to try to stir things up,” Helfert said puckishly. “The president was born there, so what are you gonna do? Not mention it?”

Meanwhile, Politico reports that Orly Taitz, who claims to be leading the birther movement, “is boasting on her blog” that she has made some high-profile Republican “friends” on Facebook: RNC chair Michael Steele, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA), and Reps. Mary Bono Mack (R-CA) and Cynthia Lummis (R-WY). “To me it means that the leadership of the Republican party understands the importance of the issues and legal cases I brought forward,” she said.

Better to 'look nutty' than perpetuate a fraud.

Stacey is a registered user.

It won't matter if God Himself were to come down from the Heavens and proclaim that Obama is a US citizen, the "birthers" won't believe it.

Stacey, if that happened I would believe it otherwise why won't he produce his birth certificate and release his transcripts? Actually he went to Pakistan years ago and I would be interested in seeing what passport he used to do it. None are unreasonable requests do you think?

Stacey,

You probably think astronauts went to the moon and that the earth goes around the sun. How can anyone reason with a person like you?

All hype! The CIA and Congressional Lawyers had concluded long before Obama took office, that he is legally a U.S. Citizen and that he was born in the U.S.A.

Now that is based upon available documents, as well as Law. Hawaii, like CALIFORNIA went all electronic years ago and it is NOT POSSIBLE to produce an original paper Birth Certificate. Obama had produced the certified copy of his birth certificate long ago. How many 44 year olds have their original paper certificate?

Personally, I was adopted and my PAPER certificate states my adoptive parent as my birth parent, time I was born and all, BECAUSE that how the LAW works. In theory, they are NOT my biological parents, although my original paper certificate states that they are.

Whatever, Obama is President and that’s it for now.

Correct Law Studnet! In FACT, we adopted a Chinese son, born in China and his ORIGINAL CERTIFIED LEGAL birth certificate say that he was born to US in the U.S.A because that the way the system works!

So all this Obama consiracy stuff is a waste of time. For all we know, Bush could have been born in Saudi Arabia, and adopted by folks in TX, therefore he is legally whatever the birth cetificate says he is.

I find it curious that everyone refers to Osama as the "first black president" etc.

The man is just as white as he is black! I also wonder why some folks have a problem with a "black" president that is actually just as white as he is black.

So if any white person has a problem with Obama’s skin color or they in fact have a problem with ½ of themselves.

Get it?

"So if any white person has a problem with Obama's skin color or they in fact have a problem with 1/2 of themselves."

"Get it?"

Hope.

We do NOT have a black president! We have a bi racial president that has a black father and a white mother.

Who cares what color the man is anyways?

And why do people refer to him as an African American?

Why not just an American?

So now why will the state of Hawaii not release his birth certificate?

Juan, it's a violation of medical records privacy laws. The State of Hawaii can't release it without the permission of the parents or legal age child; Obama himself in this case.

He's reportedly hired a law firm to enforce the sealing of all birth, travel, tax, education and credit records. It's estimated he's spent over a million dollars of his personal or campaign funds to accomplish this. Some people think there is no 'birth certificate' in Hawaii.. there's only a 'Certification of Live Birth' routinely issued when a person is [or claims to be] born in a taxi, or at home, and not in a hospital or under the direct care of a physician. These were routinely issued to people who gave birth while travelling [Kenya, perhaps] or on a cruise ship or airplane.

A 'Certificate of Live Birth' or 'Certification of Live Birth' which was widely rumored to be counterfeit, was posted to.. and then removed from his website. That's basically what stirred up the controversy.

The Constitution of the United States says.. [paraphrasing.. I don't have my copy in front of me] "Only a natural born citizen of the United States is eligible to be President." The confusion over his place of birth directly affects the 'natural born' requirement. Many suspect he was not eligible to run in the first place. The fact that he is a Harvard educated attorney complicates all this. If he claimed to satisfy the constitutional requirements knowing that he didn't.. wouldn't he be guilty of perpetrating fraud on the electorate? \

A simple release of the information would answer the question. The Democrats challenged John McCain's eligibility because he was born in the Panama Canal Zone while his father, a U.S. Naval Officer was serving there at the time of his birth. He was certified as eligible to run.. all anyone asks is Obama prove 'his' eligibility...
