You angry conservatives need to chill out, before you all get locked up in a Looney bin at worst, or ruin the chances of OUR party ever winning an election again!

No, I want you Republicans to continue your nuttiness so you can continue to lose in elections. Nothing makes us Democrats happier than watching you guys follow your ultra right-wing, southern evangelical base off a cliff to political oblivion. So keep worshipping Sarah “the quitter” Palin and Joe the Plumber, and we Democrats will keep on winning. Sucks to be you!

The conservatives are behaving like lemmings...leave them alone, they will do to themselves what needs to be done...give them enough rope!

They have no leaders that they can trust. NOT ONE! hahahahahahahahaha...all the way home!

Anybody that votes down party lines, or thinks one side's extremists are better than the others are just as foolish as the counterparts they criticize for their beliefs. One party is no better than the other. Politics is so far removed from the everyday citizen that its a joke. Its no longer about voting for the best candidate, its about voting for the lesser evil.

Jen,

What in the heck do you mean conservatives need to chill out! We have a Communist in the White House who is intent on changing this country from a democracy to a socialist republic and you say we need to chill out! A majority of voters very foolishly voted for Change without bothering to get the details about the Change. The Germans did the same thing when they allowed Hitler to come to power. The similarities between Osama and Hitler are chilling. People better wake up fast or this great country is going to be irreparably damaged.

Wow, a battle of the "nit-wits" between the knee jerk, wacko lib's made up of Al Sharpton, Nancy Pelosi, Algore, ACORN, et. al. & the "comical conservatives" with Sarah with a P, any hypocritical southern preacher that has either cheated on his wife, had an affair with a young girl/boy, The Bush Clan & don't forget...Aahnold. You know why all the late night folks writers have a never ending supply of material.

Politics makes otherwise sane people (OK, Maxine Waters might be a stretch) turn into nutjobs after being on the federal, state or local dole for more than a year or so. Why would ANYBODY spend over $2 Million on an election that will only pay them $250,000 a year? You know the answer & it is why NO politician is either accountable or beholden to either their constituency or whatever "beliefs" or values" they espoused during their candidacy to get them elected in the first place.

When anybody needs me I've got my pitchfork & big flaming torch ready to storm the castle & overthrow the evil emperor's (plural) in control of the kingdom. Until then don't bother me, Oprah's coming on in 20 minutes!

And you think George W. Bush was a dummy?

You Obama supporters, be honest now. Read the following and tell me how you would have reacted:

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current or cheated on their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the fourth of May (Cuatro de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had miss-spelled the word advice would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and 'potatoe' as "proof" of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on "Earth Day", would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually "get" what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more
proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind
the scenes?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again 10 times within years, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by
90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all the above in just 5 months -- so be patient you've still got three years and seven months to come up with an
answer.

when you look at everything you put down in its entire scope and realize he is only 5 months into his presidency and you look at his polling numbers his level of incompetence is truly amazing and we are not even done with his healtcare, North Korea, or Iran messes yet. We will be lucky to survive for the next 3.5 years or maybe he will be lucky not to be impeached for incompetence after the bloodletting in the mid term elections.

Baby, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

He knows he better move fast on his agenda...we ain't gonna take it and the Independents get it now too. He's done.

Page 425 of Health Care Bill -

On page 425 it says in black and white that EVERYONE on Social Security, (will include all Senior Citizens and SSI people) will go to MANDATORY counseling every 5 years to learn and to choose from ways to end your suffering (and your life). Health care will be denied based on age. 500 Billion will be cut from Seniors healthcare. The only way for that to happen is to drastically cut health care, the oldest and the sickest will be cut first. Paying for your own care will not be an option.

Now, CALL YOUR PEOPLE IN WASHINGTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell them to read page 425 if they don't read anything else. Surely some of them have parents.

Crazy isn't it? How about the fact that the Bill also says that goverment money for this healthcare fiasco will require hospitals and educational institutions that train medical professionals to show proof that they have given PREFERENTIAL treatment to minorities over caucasians.

This is blatant racism. As if "affirmative action" wasn't enough. The point to civil action is to require EQUAL treatment under the law. How is preferential deemed as equal?

Also, I can fully understand those of you that don't agree with others' opinions. But to reduce a debate to personal attacks only shows your inability to fight the ideas and demonstrate any debate skills.

Law Student,

Sure - here you are

"On page 881-882 the bill states that the Secretary of Health and Human Services:

"In awarding grants or contracts under this section, the Secretary shall give preference to entities that have a demonstrated record of the following: . . . Training individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups or disadvantaged backgrounds."

On page 884-885 the bill states:

"In awarding grants and contracts . . . the Secretary shall give preference to entities that have a demonstrated record of training . . . individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups or disadvantaged backgrounds . . . ."

On page 887-889 the bill states that the

"Secretary shall make grants to, or enter into contracts with, eligible entities . . . to operate a professional training program for oral health professionals, to provide financial assistance and traineeships and fellowships to those professionals who plan to work in or teach general, pediatric, or public health dentistry, or dental hygiene, to establish, maintain, or improve academic administrative units (including departments, divisions, or other appropriate units) in the specialties of general, pediatric, or public health dentistry, to operate a loan repayment program for full-time faculty in a program of general, pediatric, or public health dentistry."

On page 889-890 the bill states:

"In awarding grants or contracts under this section, the Secretary shall give preference to entities that have a demonstrated record of the following: . . . Training individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups or disadvantaged backgrounds."

On page 908-909 the bill states: "The Secretary shall award grants and contracts to eligible entities" to do the same things for the field of public health as the Secretary can do for dentistry.

On page 909 the bill states:

"In awarding grants or contracts under this section, the Secretary shall give preference to entities that have a demonstrated record of the following: . . . Training individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups or disadvantaged backgrounds."

Apart from the legality of such preferences under the U.S. Constitution and the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and the unfairness to those who are not "individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups", the Democrats' policy will foster the racial preference climate that continues to stigmatize and demean those individuals who receive the preferences. For example, if you know nothing else about two university students, except that one was probably admitted under a program where intellectual standards were reduced and the student received a preference for being the child of an alumnus, and the other was admitted under more rigorous intellectual standards without receiving any nonmerit-based preference, what are you going to think about these two students? Is the answer any different when the preference is based on race rather than an alumni relationship?

A nonmerit-based preference program based on an individual's physical appearance or surname is no less a "badge of inferiority" than the one condemned in Brown v. Board of Education. Thanks to the Democrats' racial preference program, all of the "individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups" at these medical schools and other entities, including those who deserved admission without the racial preference, will wear that badge."

This applies to training funds:

"individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups OR DISADVANTAGED backgrounds” . . .

Look, we as a County give Billions in the form of Aid (FUNDS) to "Disadvantaged Countries” that also happen to have a population of what we would call minorities.

We as a Country have also had Government as well as private programs to assist the "disadvantaged” for many years and this included disadvantage Caucasians.

Someone who is Underemployed, Unemployed, lacking education, is Disadvantaged!

What is the BIG deal? Just asking!

Racial Preferences in the Democrats' Health Care Bill
By Allan J. Favish
All 1,018 pages of the Democrats' health care bill can be inspected here. The bill includes racial preferences. Under the Democrats' health care bill, if a medical school wants to increase its chances of receiving many different kinds of grants and contracts from the federal government, it should have a demonstrated record of training individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups.

This "group" is dead set on blaming every person, place or thing for the problems in their lives. They go out of their way to find connections between the problems in their lives and the so-called reasons THEY are not at fault. This group will watch television, read books and magazines, and listen to radio shows for the main purpose of discovering new ways of blaming someone or something else.

The problem with this group is that all the blaming and pointing of fingers does not make them one bit happier. Once they have pointed their finger at some issue and placed their blame on it, they feverishly move to another issue. The only level of satisfaction they ever get is bringing people down to their level of anger and unhappiness. After doing this, they celebrate their hard won battle and quickly step over the lives they have ruined.

"To move forward at a time when Republican numbers are shrinking in many states, the party should show "respect of those who don't agree with us"

By MICHAEL R. BLOOD (AP) – 26 minutes ago

SAN DIEGO — Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty on Thursday urged fellow Republicans to welcome outsiders into the party ranks, not scorn them, as the GOP rebuilds from defeats that left the White House and Congress in Democratic hands.

The potential 2012 presidential candidate, addressing a meeting of the Republican National Committee, appealed to members to build bridges to independents and conservative-leaning Democrats that would win converts and, in turn, elections.

To move forward at a time when Republican numbers are shrinking in many states, the party should show "respect of those who don't agree with us," Pawlenty said. "Let's make sure that we welcome others who are not yet Republicans."

By MICHAEL R. BLOOD (AP) – 26 minutes ago

Looks like we took the "pledge" you speak of in 1860. On the other hand, people in your party, like Robert Byrd, was a KKK member in more recent "history".

I think you should look to your own party for racism, sexism, marxism and all other things evil and correct those first before looking over the fence at a neighbor who you hate solely based on their virtues.

Hate doesn't look good on anyone no matter what the reason.

Lashawnda,

It is sad to think that you see this country this way.

There may be a few individuals in this country who are filled with hate for those unlike themselves, but that is by far an extreme minority of individuals.

People are not racist simply because they don't agree with policies or a person's ideas.

Obama is not the man I voted for and his ideas are far from anything I believe in, but hate him for the color of his skin? Not possible for me. I would have Obama and his family over for dinner at any time. I have friends that believe the very things he does and while I don't agree with them either, they are still my friends. I can like the person but really disagree with their worldview. Happens all the time.

Stop painting dissent into the corner with hate. If that is how you see the world, then perhaps you were not taught to separate a person's actions and words from their looks. I will never believe the bad people outnumber the good people in this country. Character is what counts here, not color.

I have "fear" over the implications of Obama's policies. Obama, the man, doesn't cause me any fear at all.

Lashawnda

Listen,

Since Obama has been elected:

For Starters:

A) The hate groups have had a 75% increase in web traffic.

B) Racial comments abound, all over the internet.

C) Obama and his family have been subjected continued to on line racial jokes about monkey’s etc.

D) Racial hate groups are recruiting children all over the internet.

E) Conservative groups have called for all out violence.

F) The birthers theory on Obama being born in AFRICA has NEVER had any merit, but continues to be a major ongoing topic.

G) Obama has a long history of representing minorities who are under served and

The general public has a major fear of his “social justice” agenda, that he made very clear on his campaign.

America was not ready for an African American President and the hostility continues.

Don’t think for a minute that race and prejudice towards minorities isn’t an ongoing deep issue in America.

It is SAD, isn't it!

Al,

Rasism is alive and well in America and you know that!

Someone posted about the Republican Party starting a movement to debunk the percertion "from the left" that many Republicans are Racist. There is an on line site that promotes conservatives to register and take a vow against racism, that has been running for over two months. The site was linked here on the Weekly forum as well as all over the internet.

Guess what? Sixty Two Republican Conservatives have signed the oath!

Don't tell me their in not major Racial Tention since Obama has become President.

I have 3 shool gae children in Pleasanton schools. There is not a day goes by, that someone doesn't make some sort of Obama remark to one of my children.

Interesting that I consider myself a conservative and votes for Mc Cain!

I do not believe there is a racism problem in this country. I do however believe that the Jesse Jackson's, Al Sharpton's etc. of the world keep the black community thinking there is this huge issue otherwise where would they get their millions from? That is right our own black "leadership" just keeps us down as it helps their cause not the black community.

"Al"

My brother in law, black, and my sister, white, and are both out of work and have been for about two years. They live with my BIL's mother.

Over a year ago, my brother in law was offered a job in another state. He went to speak with his pastor and the pastor of a predominantly black church specifically counseled him that he should not take the job, that it was more important that they stay a part of the church and that "God would provide". He also shared that Obama was going to "make things right".

We were in shock that after months on unemployment he heeded his pastor's advice and felt that it was the right thing to do. My sister was quiet throughout the entire process and I was sick to my stomach that her husband, in the meantime, also forbid her to enroll her and my nephew (14 months old at the time) in WIC. He also wouldn't allow her to take him to a clinic for immunizations. Why? Because he had too much pride for those programs. I literally begged my sister to do it quietly for my nephews sake, and in fact, if she needed a mailing address, she could use mine. She said she couldn't do it - it would be wrong to keep it from her husband.

There is a message sent to the black community that they are entitled to help from someone; God or the government, etc, even if it is inconsistent (he was relying on God for the job for healthcare and didn't want to be a part of WIC). The message is loud and clear and it is appauling that this would come from a church leader in the black community where so many people have very little. The pastor lives in a rather nice home, btw and he often reminds me of Jesse Jackson (we've gone to visit them and been a part of a couple of church activities since they never miss a one).

Was the church planning on taking care of my extended family's expenses? No. So why would they compel them to stay unemployed?

As my husband so aptly put it, God is in the heart of man if he has asked him to be and therefore, anywhere a man goes - God will be with him. He needs not a specific church, since fellowship can be found in any community, but he needs a job to care for his family since he is able bodied.

The "white" community's message is clear...if you want it - work for it.

How sad that the children in the black community are told they are behaving "white" if they do well in school. I have endless examples of the messages given to blacks by other blacks, as my sister has shared with us and as I have witnessed personally. She loves her husband and her children and believes whole heartedly that they will be saved from their situation if their faith is strong enough. In the meantime, she is barely getting by on food stamps and living in a one bedroom apartment with her MIL, husband and two kids.

Quite a difference for two sisters raised the same but counseled differently.

You can't say anything to her and her husband, however, because you are percieved by them as being "hateful" or "racist" or even that you are "better than".

I just see it for what it is... My husband is employed and we are active members of a church that instructs us to use what the Lord has given us...a brain - work, a skill - share, etc. I don't see this message as racist - just an honest way to achieve what you want in life.

Jen,

Your post has a tone and an underlying suggestion, that blacks are subjected to and or hold a distinct belief system etc.

I have NEVER met two people who were exactly alike in beliefs, actions or lack of action.

Your post in itself is steriotyping in nature. You are profiling your brother in law, blacks and black pastoes and churches.

I am not buying this.

This says it all Jen! I agree, you are steriotyping and your input is counter productive to the issue!

I'm not sure why either of you are referring to me as Jen, but, assuming you are all I can say to you Lashawnda is that apparently only you can stereotype your own community and your input, based on your own standards, is counterproductive.

There is a clear message sent to the black community and if you all want to deny the problem then you are a part of it - just as my sister is.

I didn't stereotype anyone. I told a SPECIFIC example of what one experience I was a first hand observer of.

If I go global, you want specifics, if I give specifics, you want global. You don't want to get this right. You want victim status.

I'm not buying your argument either.

When you can have a sincere dialogue and stop discounting any argument with real merit, perhaps you'll actually solve a problem. Until then, I hope you don't run your own life the way you want to run others.

The other poster said it - you ARE sad and you DO have issues.

Lashawnda,

You hardly get a pass after baiting me with telling me that I am "stereotyping" blacks in a previous post so defensively and how "There is not a day goes by, that someone doesn't make some sort of Obama remark to one of my children." Why would they if they weren't black? That was the context of the conversation when you brought it up.

It was your comment and it is what you conveyed in your own post. I know it is hard to keep things straight when you purpose to decieve others. Let me see if I can help you...

You are just looking to irritate people and I am done with you. You aren't going to snag me into any example of prejudice or racism where none exists. I love my family and I am sickened by the messages that BLACKS have sent to my BLACK brother in law. You can twist it anyway you want, but I know in my heart what the truth is. You are simply trying to bait people here and I'm not going to take it. You picked the wrong person.

Thanks for reminding me that I have a big heart and why I don't want to be more cynical like you. You have a big BLACK heart and I'm not referring to race.

For sure, your logic prevails in this argument and all can see it plainly that I have it in for my sister and my brother in law.

I am shocked! Why would you both go after Seen It after what she originally posted? Do you think what that pastor did was right? I don’t and neither would anyone else. Is that what you were saying? You agreed with him?

For an individual who is leading a church, it was a very irresponsible thing to say to a man that was trying to support his family, to instruct him not to take a job. Do you think that was right?

You and I won’t know if this was the first time he did something like this. My “guess” is that it wasn’t. He would directly benefit from keeping the family around if they can eventually give money to the church coffers, or even if people look at the congregation size as a successful church. Either demonstrates selfish motivation on the side of the pastor. What selfishness did Seen It demonstrate? Nothing.

Lshwanda,

I’m not sure if you think you are being “cute” by walking different sides of the line of pretending to be black, white or polka dot in your comments and not committing to which “community” you identify yourself with, but your game is reprehensible and you should be ashamed of yourself for going after a woman who is clearly upset about the situation of her family. Shame on you!

To What?,

You you said that Seen It demonstrated Hate and Anger in her post. Actually, I didn’t see it until you piped in. As far as the situation she described, I’d be LIVID with anyone, black or white, Asian, etc that did that. She has a right to be mad at anyone who did that to her family. You seem to be the one with issues to call out someone who is hurting by someone elses actions and then calling them the equivalent of a racist.

You both are a piece of work. I hope you'll both get your heads screwed on straight. You are both manipulative and I hope you aren't parents of any children that look to you as a model of civil behavior.

Seen It First Hand:

"I love my family and I am sickened by the messages that BLACKS have sent to my BLACK brother in law."

You said it not me! Again you refer to "blacks" so I can only assume that "blacks" are your problem.

I agree that you should go speak with the Pastor at St. Claries church.

In the mean time, I will personally pray for you and I mean that sincerely.

The only anger here is from people that claim others are racist.

The conservatives that I know, base on the original posters intent, are kind and loving people. I cannot relate to those that called this woman out for loving her family and being concerned what one pastor did to a family in his care.

Apparently he is in charge of caring for a church that the poster claimed was "predominantly black". That is the message he is sending to a black community. How is that racist? That sounds like a fact.

As far as St. Claires, I believe that "black" pastor is shepherding a predominantly "white" congregation. Apples to oranges comparison.

Peace to all

Wow is right...

You don't seem to get the fact that this lady's whole issue is based upon her black brother in law, his black pastor and the entire black community, whatever that means.

Her entire emphasis is upon the color of people skin as it relates to her sisters situation. She stresses that the blacks support some action or lack of action as a community.

This woman brings this whole story up to comment on a topic of Racism in America! She brings up RACE and you can see that COLOR is a BIG deal to her!

Pleasanton sure has some bizarre thinking people, that’s for sure. Get out into the world and you will see that people are all PEOPLE!

Heated topic off topic here, or what?

Question for Seen it first hand,

As far as your sisters children, they are half black and half white.

God forbid, if one of these children ever did something that affected your sister in a negative manner, or in their community, which evidently is not all black, would you refer to them as being ½ black when you shared the situation with others? Would the color of their skin be a subject or pertinent to what you were trying to convey?

Would their potential negative actions bother you more because they are partly black, or apparently live in a partly black community and or have a black pastor?

That is right our own black "leadership" just keeps us down as it helps their cause not the black community.

+++++++++

Then the responder, who you are all assuming is a racist, replied specifically using the same language as Al.

There is nothing off here. She gave a story with facts relative to Al's supposition.

Here is another generalization unsupported by facts, just as you performed, you all are people who want to hate other people for a problem you believe is present that is not in her story.

Give it a rest.

Look Lady,

Your emphasis is on the color of skin, being black. That is your whole point. You jumped into a discussion about racism and went right into your story of your sister and her black husband, their black pastor and the black community in general.

You choose to stereotype black people, black pastors and black communities. You also suggest this story would be a common story within
The black community, or otherwise there is no point to even mentioning color.

This is your story, your family, your sister, your brother in law, their pastor and their community. You make them being black an issue, not the rest of the world.

I think the vast majority of people now believe it is just an excuse for not being successful and blaming ones failures on someone else. Why not work hard, get educated, be industrious and see what can happen like the Chinese, Vietnamese, East Indians who have recently immigrated to this country and are achieving a tremendous amount of success by their efforts and ambition.

If a white person says anything politically incorrect they are considered a racist. A large group of white people are considered racists. A white woman who mentions the race of her family member in a converstation about race is a racist.

Blah, blah, blah. You only lose your position in an argument when you pick on someone who isn't a racist.
