Memorial set for Cal State East Bay music lecturer Lawrence Granger

A private memorial service will be held in San Francisco June 27 for Lawrence Granger, 57, of Pleasanton, who died June 14 of heart failure following surgery for a brain tumor three days earlier, it was announced yesterday.

The Bay Area has lost a gifted musician and a genuinely nice man. Larry performed with our parish choir and during rehearsal breaks taught my 12-year-old son about harmonics (and jokes about viola players). I haven't met many people who are so kind and gracious to young musicians.
