Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vowed Wednesday to let California government come to a "grinding halt" rather than agree to a high-interest loan to keep the state afloat if he and the Legislature do not close the yawning budget gap in coming weeks.

Shut it down that way they can't tax us anymore.

They are like a bunch of children

So we need to re-ignite the great economic engine of California.

Reduce the business tax burdon long-term to encourage Capital formation and job creation.

Streamline state and local regulations to encourage businesses form, relocate (to the state) or expand.

Get rid of the 3 point retirement system for state workers. Workers should not get pension benefits before age 62 (partial benefits) or age 65 (full benefits).

Reduce salaries for all state workers 10%. For those making over $200,000 per year, reduce compensation 20%.

Get rid of redundant departments: Franchise Tax Board or Board of Equalization. Department of Education.

County offices of education should be eliminated.

This is just a start.

And need to lose those empty or near empty Wheels buses. Rode one the other day from one end of town to the other - i was the only one and the driver is on the radio dicussing something having to do with a contract. I'll bet there's other expenditures like this that are happening, because at one time we had money to burn, but we can't go on laying off teachers when we are throwing money away on things we can do without.

Good. Shut it down.

Have you seen the brand spanking new Wheels buses? What a joke. Our tax dollars, wasted.

Hey, the Wheels buses are cheap! AC Transit was selected to run a hydrogen bus test program. The first buses they tested cost $3,500,000 each and their are three of them. This was all taxpayer money. The price per bus has dropped; I believe a recent article stated they are now down to $2,500,000 each. Funding may have been pulled on this program but well in excess of $10MM is now gone with questionable benefit to the taxpayer.

I guess two other significants events are happening as well. BART is negotiating with the union on a new contract and the union is unwilling to budge at all and the city has reduced their budget by about 13 million but I did not read anything about layoffs or reduction of salaries which will be needed. Makes one really wonder when you look around town and see what we are investing in, softball fields, Stoneridge extension, new bart station, buses, etc.

Almost every politician has one fear - the fear of being on the wrong side of any union. All public unions must be abolished. They are bringing the state, our city, our county and our nation down, and fast.

Get rid of the unions. Get rid of redundant organizations (think how useless the Counties of Educations are). Get rid of the three point system approved under Davis. Eliminate positions that are not needed (have you ever walked into a government agency? Too many people not doing anything!). Reform the welfare system (think the famous Octomom, raising kids and getting in vitro fertilization with taxpayers' money). The list goes on. Get to work, Sacramento: no taxes needed, we already pay a lot, what we need is true reform.

Resident, you want to see waste in action? Go down to to the planning department and walk in where they issue permits. Nobody is building anything in town and if you go in there you will see a minimum of 10-12 people standing around doing nothing.
