Pleasanton Garbage story false?

Original post made by Shannon, Danbury Park, on Apr 20, 2009

There was a lot of hoopla going around about Pleasanton Garbage giving us extra recyclable containers and also about them raising our rates. Well, I called them and asked about all of this and they HAVE NO IDEA why that story was published in the weekly. They are somewhat outraged that this information did NOT even come from a representative of their office. The poor woman who answered the phone said she's been getting HATE calls with people ranting and raving at her about the rates going up. Pleasanton Garbage is not aware yet of any kind of rate raise and they also have not even ordered those recyclable containers! So my question is, who made up that story???

Before you blast curbside recycling as being a made-up story:

Perhaps you should review the Staff Report associated with Agenda Item 14 from the April 7, 2009, City Council Meeting, read the minutes for that meeting when they become available, and/or see if TV30 is going to re-broadcast said meeting.

As Rae noted, there was a council meeting about raising the rates and we are stuck due to a 20 year agmt (or thereabouts) with PGS that expires on 2018. Plus, we'll have 3 garbage cans to hall to the curb each week plus 3 instead of 2 trucks coming into all the neighborhoods.

This doesn't seem economical or ecological. Although I do like the transfer station and that is probably where the cost get sucked up.

Stacey is a registered user.

Maybe this is a good time to bring up the completely bizarre and subjective pricing for hauling stuff to the transfer station.

Don't miss out on the discussion!
