Why would we want an expansion of horse racing facility in our town? Development and expansion of the Pleasanton racetrack isn't my idea of a well thought out stewardship of the fairgrounds. Sure I love the fair but I wouldn't welcome an expanded racetrack operation down the street from my home. The justification is that there is a "need" because other racetracks have closed? I'm not sure I understand that logic.

I'd like to see the charter or other legal documents that are the basis for the racing operations and understand exactly what authority Mr. Pickering has to consider substantial capital improvements to build an expanded racing operation.

I love the idea of bringing in more horse racing days. I think there should be more racing days YEAR ROUND. This will bring in more money for the city to do the improvements and give this city a reason for people to come and linger and check out the downtown to liven things up here bit. More people coming into town means more possibilities for Downtown Merchants to pay their bills and Keep In Business. We need more reasons to draw outsiders to check out our city. This town needs a little more life as more and more of the community will seek out other cities to have some fun and spend their money. I would love to see a theatre, a bowling alley.... activities that are family oriented and give us something to do in our own little town. City Beach (located in Fremont) would be a great addition to our town. It is a compact activities center with Family flavor or a rock wall, pool tables, vertual bowling alley, bocci ball lanes..... They also have a night a week for over 21's only. You can rent out the facility for company events, birthdays....

Why do we have to 'double check/fact check' the Weekly???

This story says the track will 'go dark' Mondays and Tuesdays. The Fair website says Mondays. Duh....
