There have also been articles identified indicating the Amador Valley Boosters drove the fund raising and modification efforts for the sound system at the stadium. Bill Coupe's undated front porch "drop" letter indicates (and I quote):

1) The speakers on the west side of the stadium (visitor) will no longer be turned on for any Amador Valley athletic event.

2) A maximum threshold for the speaker volume has been established based on our decibel meter readings.

3) During all athletic events the control panel, where the volume adjustment control is located, will be locked so the volume can not be adjusted without administrative approval.

Read what is available and decide for yourself whether the issue has been resolved.

I'm actually fully aware of what is going on. There was a home football game this past weekend and I have not seen any discussion on whether the sound system was set too high or set too low. Were players/crowd/cheerleaders able to hear announcements? Is the district paying any attention to the "many" or still aquiescing to the few?

So, your question really isn't about whether the sound system issue at Amador got resolved, right?

Yes, it still kinda is. Since there has been no discussion pro or con I thought maybe both sides have been satisfied with the volume/positioning of the speakers?

Given I have had no negative feedback from a neighbor perspective, I can only assume most (if not all) on that "side" are satisfied. Pretty pathetic one has to view there even being "sides." Perhaps if this had been openly shared beforehand, the perception of "sides" could have been eliminated.

Football season is over now...which is the sport that uses the speakers most heavily. It seems to me that the "fray" of complaints has stopped. I'm willing to bet $20 that after the summer when the school's neighbors have had a break from the activity on the field, and the speakers come on again for the football season that the complaints will be renewed afresh. Don't worry. All of the same arguements will be brought up again, time and energy will be wasted, and the neighbors will still forget that they bought a house next to a high school sports complex.

I was at the Amador- Foothill game in Nov and wondered why it was impossible to make out what the announcer was saying while I was sitting in the are normally known as "purple pit" in the end zone. Since they have turned it down, if you are not sitting right underneath the announcer's booth then you won't be able to hear anything. I don't understand why the neighbors can't put up with it. No one wants to compromise these days. It's too bad!

Football Fan -- Perhaps with neighborhood involvement, a compromise could have been reached. However, the Boosters involved no one other than those directly affiliated with the school -- Bill Coupe, Ben Fobert, and Lou Cesario were apparently the key contacts.

Engineering of the proposed sound system should have included those immediately affected based on the Good Neighbor Policy. That didn't happen. As a result, John Casey was engaged to determine what was reasonable.

Working broad issues in a vacuum never produces a positive result for anyone. This is a case in point.

Thanks Gatetree resident...your post shows that the whole rigamaroll will definately surface again next year. Whine, complain, moan... none of us spectators will be able to hear the announcing, you will still complain that you should have been "consulted." What would have really happened if you were consulted...nothing...we would have the old system, which we couldn't hear. Your idea of including you in the process equals total power an domination by YOU...the lords of Gatetree. And yet again...YOU bought a house next to a sports complex...have I mentioned that before. YOU bought the house next to the sports complex...I know...it wasn't as loud when you bought it as it is now. The school grew. There's more activity...same old arguement...those of us on our side happen to think that more organized activities for our youth equals less time to get in trouble doing things like....breaking into your homes...doing drugs...etc. You'll never understand.

What The Heck -- Actually, I do understand. The current softball field configuration is a direct result of the Gatetree Residents working with the school and staff to achieve a much better field layout than originally blueprinted by the District's hired architect. We all took the time out of our busy schedules to measure the field, autocad a layout, as well as meet with the school and the district. Our goal was to minimize having backstops against the fence-line AND not have fields overlap -- something Staff was apparently incapable of doing, even with HIRED architects. So -- don't tell me I don't understand.

Regardless of where my home is positioned, if people down on Mohr could hear the PA system I would venture to say it was TOO LOUD. Did I say TOO LOUD?

I fully endorse organized activities for our youth. I also endorse cooperation and respect, something the Boosters clearly overlooked when pushing the new sound system down the neighborhood's throat by ignoring the Good Neighbor Policy established by the District. Now you have a new system and still can't hear. Was that money well spent?

As for it surfacing next year -- we'll just have to see. That will depend on whether the items detailed out in Bill Coupe's porch drop letter of 9-12-08 remain in place.
