I did not know Charles, but want to extend my thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

We have lost a gem.

We heard a lot about Coach while in the process of buying his house this past month, and dearly wished to meet him.

Chuck was one of those rare individuals whose positive effect goes beyond his work, immediate friends and family. An unseen pillar in the community, he helped make Pleasanton a nicer place for all.

May his soul rest in peace, and his life inspire us.

I had the distinct privledge to have Mr. Volonte as a teacher while in high school in the 70's. He was such a gentleman. He treated everyone with respect. The Amador Swim Team that he coached was legendary in the unprecedented number of championships they won. He was a role model for all of us and I have thought of him often through the years. His commitment to the community seems to come from a place and time that has largely passed in public education. He will be missed by all who knew him.

We moved to Pleasanton Valley in 1967. Within weeks our oldest son Keith became friends with Chuck and Donna's son, Rich. This started a life long friendship that will never end. Each of my seven children was lucky to have Mr. Volonte touch their life through teaching. He knew how to teach the kids while gaining their interest through laughter and wisdom.

Chuck remained a dear family friend until the day he died and will always be remembered as one of the nicest people who ever lived.

Its no wonder Amador High proudly named their beautiful pool after Chuck. He was an inspiration to those that he came in contact with. He brought laughter to the world and made learning fun.

For years he will be remembered as a person that made a difference. Those that knew him will greatly miss him and always hold fond memories. My guess is that, included in the memories is a good laugh. He has successfully completed his job on this planet by raising his beautiful family that shares his spirit. He has also inspired so very many people to share his drive in making this world a better place.

Now he moves on to rest with the love of his life, Donna. He will no longer share the laughter through speech, but will share through memories for years to come.

Farewell Chuck!

I never had Mr. Volante as a coach but he DID teach my State Requirements class, a then-necessity to get your drivers license. Even years after, if I would run into Chuck, he'd remember me from than one class many years previous and we'd catchup.

Always a swell mannered guy with a smile to offer to everyone.

I had the privilege to have Chuck as both a driver's training teacher and swim Coach at Amador Valley from 1990-1993. Always the consummate gentleman, Chuck will be fondly remembered.

I remember him teaching the driving class I had in 1992. He was a funny, kind, and sweet teacher. He will be greatly missed and my prayers go out to his family.

Chuck was my swim coach at AVHS and drivers ed teacher. Also, I was his TA. I am so sad. He was an amazing, kind, funny and generous person. My heart felt wishes to his family.

My heart and prayers go out to the Volonte Family. He was an absolutely fabulous part of my high school experience from drivers ed to swimming. It is with new fondness to remember our swim team saying of "Chuck is god". Peace.

Thank you Mr. Volonte for inspiring me to become a teacher myself. Your humor in the classroom and your ability to connect with your students was always a benchmark that I put upon myself in my 25 plus
years as a teacher. You were my favorite teacher at Amador and you also inspired my brother Ron as his swim coach at Amador. Our prayers are with your family Chuck as you were truly a teacher whom we all loved .

What a truely wonderful teacher to students in our district. It is so true that he was patient, funny, respectful, and shared is smile and humor freely to all he came in contact with. I can still hear his bountiful laugh. A true gentleman. A fine example of our Community of Character traits. I always loved running into Chuck so many years later after my graduation.

God bless you Chuck and I know you are with your lovely wife Donna. Cheers to you, and "Well Done" my friend. My prayers go to the Volonte Family. They have suffered a great loss.

Chuck sure put up with a lot from us in driver's Ed, but at the same time he made it fun and always made us laugh. I feel privledged to have known him and had him as a teacher. He will be missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Class of 1988 AVHS

I feel so honored and blessed to say that Chuck was my teacher, my coach and my friend. When I think of my high-school years, Chuck comes to mind and brings a smile to my face. He was kind and considerate, he had a great sense of humor and he was a friend to all.

I moved away from Pleasanton right after high-school but stayed in touch with Chuck. I would see him from time to time when I would visit and I am so thankful for the nice e-mail I received from him a couple months ago.

Chuck, thanks for your friendship and the many wonderful memories. You will be missed by many.

Wow. He taught my Driver's Ed class 10 years ago and I will never forget him. He was so funny and so full of life. My heart goes out to the Volante family, may you take comfort in that he was loved by so many!

I was a swimmer at AVHS , 75-77. Chuck was our coach and along with him we had the time of our lives. I did not know it then, but Chuck loved everyone of us, and I miss him. See you in the great beyond Chuck!

I'll always remember Chuck's smile and his zest for life. He used to call me "Big Guy". He would never forget a face. I think he would forget everybody's name and just invent something on the spot. That's just one of the things that made Chuck, Chuck. I'll miss him. He was a great guy. Keep it at 55!

I stumbled accross this on Dec 31 2010. Chuck was my swim coach from 81-84. I had him for Drivers Ed. as well. He was a great guy. Went to the house a few times, knew his wife. Just a great guy. I learned alot from him beyond just being a teacher and coach. Rest in Peace I am sorry you are gone from our world.

daddy... It's sunday and im here at work and started totally thinking about you. whenever i really miss you, i google the pool and i see your name in print and for some reason it makes me feel better. We all miss you so much. When the girls do something fabulous I still so want to call you up to tell you first.

It is 2015 and I just found out that Chuck passed away. I was the swim coach at Livermore High in the 70's and 80's and we lost to Amador every year. But, Chuck and I got along great. He had an incredible attitude and spirit. We always had a good relationship and laughed many times together.

I'm pleased that the new pool was named after this dedicated and fine person.

Just a side note: I coached swimming for almost 30 years and, after all of those years the GREATEST and most exciting dual meet I ever experienced was a meet against Amador at LHS's pool in approximately 1977. It went down to the event and whichever team won that race won the meet. Amador/Chuck got the touch. Chuck was one helluva guy!
